Nala's Assessment session - BEFORE video
Nala is with us to resolve her reactivity to Dogs, People, Vehicles and generally anything on wheels or fast moving.
Keep with us to see how Nala progresses during the program
Bjorn a 10 week old GSD pup who came for a 2 week Board & Train.
I don't accept the excuse that gets thrown around "It's just a puppy it will grow out of it" when it comes to bad behaviour. Start how you plan to finish.
Bjorn is a great example of the little sponges they are. Off lead recalls around the distraction of another puppy keen to play. In only a couple of weeks training!
Start your pup off on the right track - puppies who start with us from around 8 weeks of age are by 6 months of age: -
* Off lead recalling
* Have a good place position
* Down stay
* Heel
* Legs
* Puppy holds and vet holds
* Have any behavioural problems sorted as they arise so they don't become issues later in life.
Bjorn, a 10 week old GSD pup who joined us for a 2 week Board & Train whilst his owners were on holidays.
We set Bjorn up with some foundation skills during his stay practising them in multiple real world environments.
Going on holiday's and would like to have your dog busy learning some new skills for when you return?

Benji the young Rottweiler Pup having a much needed socialisation session. This young pup has been showing undesirable behaviour when meeting new dogs and so we organised an intervention with a group of pro social dogs to help Benji learn to interact appropriately and give his owner the skills to address problem behaviours as they arise.

FOR SALE - TREADMILL - Life Fitness
Commercial treadmill suitable for dogs due to its length. We used it during winter but since moving we don't have a need for it any longer.

Coco used to be worried about getting into the car and needed to be coaxed and lifted to get in.
During her stay we have been working on off leash control. Combining the two (recall and vehicle) we now have Coco happily jumping into the vehicle on cue π
The very first Puppy Hold with a 8 week old pup.
Following the theme of teaching your dog to be comfortable while being held in a restraining hold, here is a raw video of how the first Puppy Hold typically goes.
Initially there is going to be some resistance and it's important that you don't release the pup at this point or they learn that wriggling and fighting the hold = release from the hold.
You want to wait for your puppy to be relaxed for at least 5 seconds before you gently roll them out of the hold and allow them to be free.
We always follow this with a fun play or food luring session to wash away any unpleasantness they felt during the hold. Soon they enjoy the hold as it predicts the fun that soon follows.

Trump exampling how all our dogs learn to be handled
This is what we term the 'Puppy Hold' because that is when this hold is started and carried through the life of the dog for general nail clipping, ear and teeth checks, injury care, blood tests and vet assessments.
During the first few months of the puppies development this position preceeds most training sessions it then fades to a few times a week and in adulthood the position is used for routine nail clipping fortnightly & during vet visits.

Coco's day out
Big thankyou to @kadogtraining for having us out to the lovely property in the hills, Coco and Trump had a ball!
Coco started with us as a young pup completing a few private sessions before a bit of a break prior to starting her board & train program:-
βοΈ Progress her recall to offlead
βοΈ Place
βοΈ Reactivity to other dogs
βοΈ Confidence building with dogs
βοΈ Ball manners
Today we focused on the offlead and confidence building portion of her stay.
Coco's owners have done an excellent job practising the skills learnt in our private sessions which means she is flying through her offlead work. As a result we were able to take her on this adventure end of week 1 of her stay π needless to say she is doing very well and even made friends with @kadogtraining beautiful Freya the Great Dane.

Remember Murphy?
Murphy is back for a short stay due to his owners being away on their honey moon.
I am so proud of Murphy and his owners who since his 3 week Board and Train have kept up with monthly training sessions to continue Murphy's progress and ensure everyone is on the right path.
Needless to say he is doing so well and we can now progress to more advanced training skills with the basics firmly established.
You can tell I'm pretty pleased with Murphy, can't help but tell him so π
Just a normal day training Place
Auggie getting good at relaxing and maintaining position π
Auggie - Day 14 Board and Train
Auggie is with us on a 3 week Board and Train. This lovely boy is in for the following:-
* Stop reacting at dogs particularly dogs who bark at him
* Stop the crouch and pounce at dogs
* Stop pulling on lead
* Heeling
* Stop Jumping on visitors
Auggie also struggles with anxiety. He suffers from separation anxiety along with general anxiety when out and about which presents as the inability to relax and sit still in public.
We have been helping Auggie to find relaxation whilst out and about and in the home environment as just being in the backyard is very difficult for him and we would like to see him happy and confident being alone.
Being a 5year old dog this isn't a quick fix, we are giving him some tools to go home with to assist with how to manage when he feels unsettled in the hope he can continue to learn to live a less stressful life π
Nipsey Board & Train Update -some of the progress up to day 10.
Nipsey lacks confidence which has led to Nips lunging and barking at dogs and people. We will be showing Nipsey there are other ways of dealing with his worries rather than barking and carrying on.
Ofcourse I didn't film any before footage as usual π
During his 3 week program we are working on: -
βοΈ Reactivity towards dogs and people
βοΈ Stop pulling on lead
βοΈ Place
βοΈ Recall
βοΈ General House Manners
So far Nipsey is progressing really well and is on track to becoming a model k9 citizen.
More to come π
Murphy update
Murphy is with us to work on his reactivity to other dogs and bikes learn an offlead recall, heeling, place and general house manners.
Murphy is doing very well for day 10 in his training. Teaching Murphy (and any dog for that matter) self control is key to a successful outcome. Up until now we have provided guidance to Murphy during situations he finds difficult. Once he is following the guidance well we then like to give him the opportunity to make the right choices all on his own.
We have also incorporated biking into Murphy's daily program to help him see bikes in a more positive light.
Good boy Murphy!
More to come as we progress to offlead π
Murphy is a little unsure how to play with the flirt pole so Charlie the cat came to show him how its done
Murphy finds it hard to express himself in new environments. Helping him build confidence is a big part of our program.
Deaf Dalmatian Reliable Offlead Recalls
This deaf Dalmatian pup can now run freely with reliable recalls
Thunder came along to increase his confidence around other dogs and practise his off lead recalls also
They had a ball! Beautiful to see this pup stretching out and enjoying life despite being completely deaf, it has not held her back one bit!
Koko's Lesson at the Vet
Koko is a 5month old White Shepherd Pup who we have the privilege of having for a day stay each week.
Each week we get Koko out and about somewhere new to confidence build and practice skills she has learnt during her Private training sessions.
This week it was just too hot to go out during the day so we headed to the vet for some air-conditioned training.
Did you know that in the middle of the day your vet clinic waiting room is usually quiet?
This makes for a perfect time to practice your dogs waiting room skills without getting in the way of daily consults.
Thanks to the team at Wattle Grove Vet who are always welcoming π
Ned's first Place session
Here he is learning to extinguish leash pressure by jumping onto the place.
Ordinarily we would recommend teaching new skills in low distraction environments but Charlie the cat had other ideas π€¦ββοΈ
Needless to say Ned handelled his first session like a pro distraction and all.
Freddies Final Video
In three weeks we achieved
* Offleash recall
* Heeling and loose lead walking
* Place
* Down
* Retrieve a ball
* Teaching an out
* Door manners
In this video it shows how we practising our Downs, Recalls and Heeling in many different environments so we could help Freddies owners achieve that 'take anywhere easily' kind of dog.
Freddie came such a long way in a very short amount of time. Such a lovely boy to work with, our family will miss having him around.
Freddie 2 week Board and Train update
Getting out and about practising our heeling, down stays and recalls in new environments
Freddies owners want a dog who is easy to take anywhere, so, anywhere and everywhere we will go to help Freddie realise this.
Freddie is a social butterfly and has great dog to dog interaction skills.
We caught up with Motivate Dog Training and their Board and Train dog Molly, who, prior to their program was very Dog Reactive. We saw first hand how well Molly is doing. Freddie and Molly got along like a house on fire getting up to all sorts of mischief π
