We wanted to share this video of the beautiful Colin.
Colin is a very special, gentle giant who struggles on smooth flooring (it’s very scary!).
Weighing over 50kg makes it hard to lift Colin up for a fear free transport in clinic so we came up with this as a way of getting Colin around clinic when he was in for his dental procedure! Colin was using the soft blankets to make the scary floors feel more comfortable and it gave him the boost of confidence he needed to walk!
Very brave, Colin! 🥇🏆
We have been looking after the lovely Toffee for many years now and she is an incredibly special girl. This year Toffee is turning TWENTY!!
Every visit she enjoys a little creamy treat and a snack on our cat consult room grass.
We couldn’t resist showing this cute video of her enjoying her snack after her arthritis injection.

The gorgeous Lumi wins most attentive patient of the day!
We could sit and chat to Lumi for hours with listening ears like that! 😍
Here’s some cuteness for your Sunday morning!
Kitten season is here and we have a special little friend growing and thriving behind the scenes of Foothills.
Nurse shanae has been doing a fabulous job with this little cutie pie who was found all alone on the street.
We can’t wait to see this little guy go from strength to strength!
ATTENTION 🐾🌿
We would like to share this important video again as we suspect there is a PARVOVIRUS outbreak in the Armadale and surrounding suburbs and we want your pets protected.
VACCINATION IS KEY IN PREVENTING YOUR PETS AND SLOWING THE SPREAD. There is no cure for parvovirus and treatment is intensive.
To book your pet in for their annual vaccinations please contact us on 94977488.
Please us spread the message by SHARING our post.

🐾⚠️‼️COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT ‼️⚠️🐾
Foothills Animal Hospital would like to warn the Armadale and surrounding communities that Canine Parvo Virus has made it self at home within our region. We have had the most confirmed cases in years, with multiple cases confirmed.
Parvovirus is a HIGHLY contagious virus that can survive in the environment for years.
Treatment of parvovirus is intensive and expensive. The only way to protect your furry family member from this horrible disease is to vaccinate.
Ensure unvaccinated puppies complete their appropriate vaccination protocol and are not taken out until your veterinarian has advised it is SAFE for your puppy to be out in the world.
Please contact the clinic on 9497 7488 to book your dog in for vaccination now.
We need your help to #carefortheanimals
A personal message from Dr Nicole.
P.s. Jack made a full recovery from a nasty gastroenteritis 🐾🌿
🌿ATTENTION 🌿
We have been seeing an increased incidence of kennel cough in the past two weeks, all with the very similar symptom of ‘coughing like something is stuck in their throat!’
Dr Nicole Leslie shares,
‘Canine cough in dogs is an upper respiratory tract infection which can cause a nasty cough. It can look like your dog has something caught in its throat! Normally dogs are otherwise bright and eating normally but in more severe cases they can be lethargic and feverish. The canine cough vaccine protects against one viral and one bacterial cause of coughing but there are many other viral/bacterial causes which your dog could be exposed to. For this reason the canine cough doesn’t always prevent an upper respiratory tract infection. Antibiotics aren’t commonly indicated as typically the infection is viral. Treatment is commonly aimed at settling the cough and isolating until symptom free.’
If your pup is due for vaccination or is exhibiting symptoms of canine kennel cough, please call the clinic on 9497 7488 and our nurses can help book your appointment 🐾🌿
MEET FLASH 🌿
Flash came in for his castrate last week & made the most of nurse Laura-Lee’s cuddles! Flash made sure to stock up on belly rubs, even enjoying them while we placed his catheter. Now that’s stress free handling!
What a superstar you are, Flash!
Happy Hump Day 🌿

🐘RIP Tricia The Elephant🐘
We think its fair to say that Tricia touched the hearts of many over her amazing life since her arrival at Perth Zoo in 1963. Tricia has helped generations develop an appreciation for elephants and wildlife conservation.
Tricia had a very influential part to play in Dr Nicoles veterinary journey and Dr Nicole wanted to include her legacy within Foothills since the very beginning. For those of you who may not have noticed our chalk board in reception is shaped as an elephant in her honour.
Perth Zoo have set up the Tricia Tribute to Conservation Fund. In which all donations will go towards conservation work and building an elephant guard post in Sumatra’s Bukit Tigapuluh ecosystem in her name.

Happy Hump Day!✨
Having a positive relationship with our patients is one of our top priorities - here at Foothills we pride ourselves on our fear free, low stress handling.
This video is beautiful example - A 10 week old Aussie Shepherd in clinic for his 2nd vaccine. Easy was so distracted by his yummy lickimat that his vaccine went completely unnoticed.
We are constantly learning and improving our abilities to cater to all our furry friends. Some of the things we are currently able to offer are:
- Our amazing outdoor consult with gate access to remove the daunting walk into the vet.
- Our "chill pill package" to help reduce anxiety within clinic starting from the safe space of your home.
- Feliway and Adaptil: replica appeasing pheromones to help add an extra level calm.
- Lickimats, creamy treats, squeaky toys, balls, prime 100 and more accessible as distraction.
For more information on how we can make your pets next visit to vet their best yet please call 9497 7488.

Proactive Pawrents 🐾
Sweet Sorin visited Dr Rachel last week as his Mum had noticed he was limping on one of his front paws. Upon further investigation there was nothing obviously wrong however a questionable black dot was embedded in his paw pad.
Sorin is a very lucky boy as an exploratory procedure revealed that there was a large, sharp thorn buried in his paw pad.
The handsome Sorin is now on the mend and feeling much better without his pointy stowaway.

❗️Recently we have been seeing an increase in stick related injuries❗️
From lacerations to foreign bodies however this case was a particularly special one.
Rest assured this lovely dog is on the mend and recovering beautifully however it is a friendly reminder that there are much safer alternatives for our chewers and fetchers ❤️
- Chewers:
(Available in clinic - all natural/sustainably sourced)
1. Pigs ears
2. Beef or kangaroo hide rolls
3. Cow hooves
- Fetchers:
1. Frisbees
2. Balls (no smaller then a tennis ball).
3. Stick alternatives made from soft plastics.

⛈The Rain Is Here!⛈
Each year as we move into winter and the rain begins to pour we see an increase in lost/missing pets.
The wind kicks up, thunder rumbles in the distance, and your dog is panting, trembling, and looking for a place to hide. Sound familiar? Storm phobia is an incredibly common problem for our pets. In extreme cases, dogs might injure themselves in their panicked state, or even become destructive or aggressive. Without any treatment, storm phobia in dogs worsens over time.
If your pet struggles during the winter weather please don’t hesitate to book your pet in to see one of our lovely vets for some tips and tricks on how to keep them comfortable and calm.
Please call the clinic on 9497 7488 to book your consultation.
Whilst on the topic of lost pets we would also love to remind everyone to please ensure your pets are microchipped and that your details are up to date. Rest assured reunification is much easier when these steps are followed.
⁉️COVID-19 IN PETS⁉️
Dr Nicole Leslie has taken the time to make a short video to explain some of the information regarding Covid-19 transmission in pets.
If you do have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact the clinic on 9497 7488.
