We would like to thank each and every one of you for the special part you play in making Foothills what it is. We are honoured to be your chosen vet and to care for your pets.

We have had many amazing moments in 2024 (and some very sad ones too) and are looking forward to seeing you all in the new year. If you’d like, we would love to hear a special moment you had with your beloved pet this year in the comments below.

ADOPTION UPDATE!

Our handsome boy Dash was adopted by a family whose pets have been coming to Foothills for many years.

We can see he is settling in well with his new kitten brother and they are enjoying some sunshine in their catio.

We want to thank Dash’s new family for taking him in to their home and making him a part of their family. We are so grateful for them and the wonderful care they give their pets.

A special thank you to nurse Shanae who fostered Dash whilst we found him a home and to the kind gentleman who saw him dashing across Albany highway as a young kitten and bought him to safety at Foothills.

We hope you are all spending the day with people and animals who make you happiest.

All of the team would like to thank you all for being such a special part of our lives - we love what we do and we hope you feel that whenever you visit the clinic.

Kobalt’s tips for keeping your furry friends cool in the upcoming hot Perth summer:

☀️ ensure pets have access to shade if outdoors
☀️ provide multiple water bowls to ensure access to water at all times and in the event one bowl is knocked over
☀️avoid walking or sun exposure between the hottest part of the day or when the temperature is 25 degrees or more
☀️ be aware of breed specific risks (like brachycephalic breeds) and adjust environments and exercise to suit your pets individual needs
☀️never leave pets in unattended vehicles, even for a few minutes
☀️provide cool enrichment (like frozen pet-safe ice treat blocks) to help keep pets cool

IF you suspect your pet has heat stroke, contact your closest vet clinic IMMEDIATELY - some signs include, excessive panting, drooling more than usual, lethargy, vomiting or behaviour changes.

Meet Doctor Megan!

Dr Megan is one of our newest vets who is doing both surgical and consulting shifts at Foothills.

Dr Megan is a wonderful addition to the Foothills team - she loves dogs (pictured is her smallest pup, Kobalt) and is always very patient and compassionate with our nervous big dogs!

Fun fact about Dr Megan is that she always has themed, fun socks on to rock with her crocks!

We love having Dr Megan as part of the Foothills team and are so excited that she is part of the foothills family!

Kelly is such an important part of our team - she manages our ever growing staff, is our IT whizz, our number one go to person and is always there for any of us with a huge smile on her face and a helping hand.

Meet ACE!

Ace came into clinic with ulcers in his eyes, inflammation and redness and persistent and chronic eye irritation.

Upon examination we diagnosed Ace with bilateral entropian of the upper eyelid and ectropian of the lower eyelid - a condition where the eyelids roll inwards (entropian) making the eyelashes irritate the sensitive parts of the eye and where the eyelid droops (ectropian) to expose the cornea.

These conditions were causing Ace to have consistent eye issues.

We surgically corrected both the entropian and ectropian on both eyes and Ace is currently in his healing phase and doing very well!

Certain breeds are pre disposed to this condition, including shar pei, bulldog, Great Dane, mastiff and Rottweilers.

Ace is only one year old and so this surgery is going to change the quality of his life and make him so much more comfortable! We can’t wait to share the final update on his journey 👀🐕‍🦺🦴🐾

Meet DASH!

Dash is approximately 8-10 weeks old and is looking for a family to call his own.

He is available for adoption through our CARE-fund at Foothills.

If you are interested in making this little man part of your family can you please send an email to [email protected] with the subject Dash Adoption and attention to nurse Natasha.

This little guy is growing up around another cat and is so far cat social, and is learning to understand what dogs are too but is more cautious around them.

In the email please let us know:
1. Members of your family (humans and animals, ages included please)
2. Reason for wanting to add to your family

Our adoption fee is $390 and covers the microchip, first vaccination and desexing (to be done at 5 - 6 months of age)

Morgan moved from New Zealand with her family (including her cute as a button rotti Louie!).

Bio- born and bred in nz, recently moved over with my family. Have always had a strong interest in working with animals, worked in a clinic back home which made me want to give nursing a try, since moving here I’ve decided it’s a good opportunity to further my career in this industry and take the opportunity to study veterinary nursing.

We wanted to share this video of the beautiful Colin. Colin is a very special, gentle giant who struggles on smooth flooring (it’s very scary!). Weighing over 50kg makes it hard to lift Colin up for a fear free transport in clinic so we came up with this as a way of getting Colin around clinic when he was in for his dental procedure! Colin was using the soft blankets to make the scary floors feel more comfortable and it gave him the boost of confidence he needed to walk! Very brave, Colin! 🥇🏆

We have been looking after the lovely Toffee for many years now and she is an incredibly special girl. This year Toffee is turning TWENTY!! Every visit she enjoys a little creamy treat and a snack on our cat consult room grass. We couldn’t resist showing this cute video of her enjoying her snack after her arthritis injection.
