We have had a great few days at Megan Jones place in Woodside to break our trip up. Cuba has travelled really well on a whole, he seems very settled & as fresh & full of himself as normal 🤦🏼‍♀️🇨🇺💕

Our competition starts on Thursday with the 6yr old young event horse class & trot up for the 2 Star long & then we won’t be doing our dressage until Saturday 💕

Soy protein for horses - What the hull?

There has been discussion in the horse industry around soy not being a suitable source of protein. This is true of soy hulls, genetically modified soy, and non-organic soy, as they may contain dangerous toxins if these are not removed at the time of processing.

Organic Soybeans, however, have one of the closest amino acid profiles to the composition in horse’s muscles and do not contain toxins.Human oral grade soy is completely safe to feed.

Soybeans are considered to have a superior amino acid profile compared to other fed protein sources. When we think of protein sources, often soybean is overlooked because of the confusion.

Let’s take a good look at the facts.
~ Soy is a plant source of protein
~ A good source of Linoleic acid
~ A good source of Linolenic acid
~ Contains no starch
~ Contains all 10 essential amino acids
~ A good source of DE digestible energy

Soyabean Quality
There are many types of soy products being produced for the equine feed industry. Not all of them are suitable and we certainly would not feed our horses some of them. Feeds containing soy hulls, genetically modified and non-organic soy are products that we would not use.
These products have more negative impacts on horse’s body than positive ones. They can contain anti-nutritional factors which inhibit the absorption of other nutrients. This is especially true of soy hulls. Soy hulls are not used in human consumption due to the trypsin inhibitors that may be present. HOWEVER, organic Soy flour which has been certified is the safest way to feed soybean. There is strict regulation around use of chemicals and the processing of organic soy flour. There is no residue or exposure to organic soy. The human grade soy flour does not contain any soy hulls. Hiform Equisoy is a wonderful product containing full fat de-bittered human grade soy flour, and is a fantastic form of safe, nutritious protein for all horses!

A little bit about Topline:
Contains amino acids including L-Arginine. Excellent for horses with a poor appetite or in a run down condition. TopLine DOES NOT contain whey powder, which is used in almost all muscle building products for humans and horses. Whey protein is the protein that is derived from whey, which is a by-product of the cheese made from cow's milk.
Horses are herbivores, whey may acceptable for humans, but we do not feel comfortable feeding it to horses. Human studies published in Nov 2011 stated ‘whey protein may affect glucose metabolism and muscle protein synthesis. However, the evidence for a clinical efficacy is not strong enough to make final recommendations with respect to a specific dose and the duration of supplementation. Other supporting amino acids, herbs, specific B-Group vitamins and trace elements work extremely powerfully in a synergistic way.'
TopLine does NOT contain FISH products or other by-products which are totally unsuitable for herbivores!

ElectroPlus formula contains nutrients that have a role in maintaining normal electrolyte balance in body tissues during heavy exercise.
