Poor Matilda!
Dear DBBR supporters, itโs been a long time since we asked for any financial help, but we need to now!
Matilda, one of the 6 Pilbara puppies we had agreed to help, has exited her pen awkwardly and was obviously in pain. Thankfully, her foster carer was able to have her seen by the ๐ง๐ผ๐บ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐ฐ within the day (a feat in itself as anybody who has ever tried to book an appointment with these remote vets would know!) who confirmed that her tibia and fibula were fractured and that she would need specialist attention in Perth. See X-ray in comments. Thankfully the team at ๐ฆ๐๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ต๐ฎ helped with organising a flight and she flew in from Paraburdoo yesterday.
We took her directly to ๐ฅ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐๐บ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ who had a surgeon and nurse return to the clinic especially for us after hours. After assessing her they decided not to wait but instead to work on her leg straight away.
A broken leg on a pup this young is both good and bad. The good side is that their bones heal quickly, and she should not have any lasting issues from it. The bad side is, because of the rapidly growing bones, the normal procedures with pins, plates and casts canโt be used which means she must be carefully monitored and kept rested for a few weeks.
We are thankful that Matildaโs prognosis is very good, but this emergency has been a costly exercise and used funds that we, frankly, just donโt have. We would love to raise $1,000 to go towards Matildaโs vetwork, flight and physio if deemed necessary once her leg heals.
We would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the people who assisted with this emergency, and made Matilda a priority. We will update you all on her progress and with more puppy pics when her siblings join her in Perth next week.

Miss Tuiri had a meet with one of her now all GROWN UP pups Harriet (previously Diana).
Itโs hard to believe she had 12 of those not so little pups in her tummy not that long ago! As much as Tuiri was happy to see her baby I think she is now accustomed to her life of leisure and enjoyed the peace and quiet when she left๐
