Welcoming our boy Fat Cat back home 🐾🐈‍⬛

Today we had to make the tough decision to say goodbye to our old boy ‘Fat Cat’ also known as Sumo by only Dr Ram.

Dr Ram rescued Fat Cat nearly 5 years ago from a family that decided to euthanise him so they could travel and not have to pay for a Cattery.

Dr Ram was fond of Fat Cat as soon as he met him and he asked them to surrender him to us. He was blind, old and nearly 10kg. Hence the name ‘Sumo’.

Fat Cat has been a huge part of our clinic, from talking to the nurses in the morning begging for food, tormenting all the cats that come into our clinic, the surgery help whilst he waits at the door for us to come to reception, and also sometimes eating our lunch when it’s left unattended.

Fat Cat was actually quite untouchable when he came to Canning Vale Vet, he would often hiss and try to bite the staff. However in the last few years he warmed up to everyone and even let our clients pat him.

Unfortunately in the past year Fat Cat dealt with some eye issues, his cataracts progressed and got worse. He also had glaucoma in his left eye. His eye got quite painful so we had to remove it.

He recovered very well from that procedure, however in the past few months he dealt with weight loss, lost his appetite, and also suffered a severe infection in his socket which he scratched and created an abscess.

With as much medical management possible, with 2 vets and our nursing team doing our best to care for him, we made the hardest decision to put him to sleep.

Fat Cat passed away peacefully at our clinic surrounded by love.

Fat Cat will be forever missed by all of our staff, and clients.

Beautiful Ricci had chewed up some dog toy that caused an obstruction to his digestive tract. He underwent a surgery to remove the foreign body and has made a full recovery. Here is a photo of lovely Ricci and a review from his owner.

We are so glad he has made a complete recovery and we look forward to seeing him for yearly health checks and vaccinations. 🐾🌼💙

Merry Christmas to all of my most amazing clients who have bonded with us in last 5 years like family members. Each of you have been wonderful with us. We are blessed to have Sophie as our vet nurse for more than 3 years now. Sophie is truly a sunshine and full of enthusiasm to help every pet and also full of beans to make everyone laugh. Aaliyah joined us vet nurse 6 months ago after finishing our training with us. Aaliyah comes with a great calming personality to deal with any situation when comes to animal care. Aaliyah is most polite person among all of us. Aaliyah loves working with animals but we have no idea why she loves birds so much that she doesn’t want to touch them 😂😂😂. Avel is currently enrolled in vet nursing program but she works with us on Saturdays. Avel comes with lot experiences with animals which she obtained from Singapore veterinary profession. Avel can speak Mandarin very well and has been with a great help. Our other trainee nurses Suzi, Megan and Meiling were efficient during training and absolutely adore their help. Our superstar puppy school professor Tamika has been with us for 3 years with great reputation. Tamika is a dedicated trainer and she is determined to give the best. We are lucky to have such great team and loving clients. Once again, we are indebted to each of our clients who has given us opportunities to look after their pets. Trixie is 100% back to normal after a major surgery to get rid from the exceptionally large and pus filled uterus - Closed Pyometra. The weight of pus filled uterus was nearly 10% of Trixie’s body weight. There was zero leakage of uterine fluid into the belly during surgery. The only worry was rupture of uterine wall and that was not allowed to happen 😊😊😊

Pyrometra surgery 4 days ago at Canning Vale Canning Vale Vet - Open 7 days a week. Pyrometra like this definitely kills a dog in a week or two without surgical interventions. Antibiotic treatment alone can’t cure close pyrometra. Dog is doing good.

⚠️Warning Vomit ⚠️ On Tuesday we had a dog rushed in due to eating half an onion 🧅 All parts of onion plants are toxic to dogs. Eating onions can cause a breakdown of red blood cells, leading to anemia in dogs. Other symptoms of onion toxicity to lookout for are lethargy, pale gums, fainting, decreased appetite. Nunu visited us yesterday and he was totally a different dog. Completely back to normal. Thanks 🙏🏽 to Wang family to give us an opportunity to help Nunu and trust us all the way from a dying Nunu to a happily running Nunu. It was never possible without your commitment to Nunu.

Here is 10 years old Pomeranian cross boy Nunu with severe Ataxia. Nunu was falling on his head and was not able to walk even few steps falling. Nunu was presented to us on 09/07/2022. Even after multiple diagnostic procedures and multiple visits to us, owners didn’t give up. They made every possible effort for Nunu. Nunu is too close to his Mum. Next video followed the complete recovery of Nunu. He is enjoying now a completely normal life ❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰

Unbelievable, 3.5 years old, Frenchie, spayed today. Surprisingly she walked normal in less than 10 minutes. The only thing she loved being cuddled. She also cries like a cat. She also greeted her owner like nothing happened. Need not to mention that we use Electro-surgical devices which very little to no bleeding just one half to one small swab. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Belly rub therapy has worked for little Edmond. He is nearly back to back to normal after an acute illness.

Here comes his excellency senior citizen of our community Mr Benji, nearly 16 years old Labrador Retrievers. Although he is not able to walk much but still enjoying a very neat and clean life with his lovely family. Benji is overseas born Australian 🥰. He migrated to Australia more than a decade ago. After a 30 minutes consult including nail trimming. Benji went home. His appetite is fabulous. He doesn’t wet his bed and asked owners to walk him out if he needs to perform his routines. I am his vet since 5-6 years. 🥰🥰🥰❤️💙💚💜🤍
