Good morning from Lizzy! It’s breakfast time and she is more than happy to demonstrate how to eat in a calm manner. People ask us when is the best time to start to train a puppy, but the truth is, a puppy who has been brought up by a well balanced Mother already knows how to behave respectfully and fit into the dog pack. So the question is, when is the best time to learn as dog owners, and the answer is that it’s never too early (even before your new puppy arrives) and it is also never too late to modify behaviour!
SNEAK PEEK…… You asked for more dog behaviour seminars and we’re listening! Are you thinking of getting a puppy but not sure how or when to start training? Are you looking to prevent unwanted behaviours from developing in your dog? Or do you have some behaviour issues you’d like help to address? Are you a dog foster carer or would like to become a carer? Whatever your situation, we can help! We are just finalising the details so get yourself on our early bird wait list to get the details as soon as they are confirmed and access early bird special ticket prices and other special offers! PM us with your preferred contact details!
I know a lot of owners think that crating your dog is mean or cruel , you couldn’t be further from the truth. Check out our old boy Con opening his own crate then waiting for it to be secured so he can sign off and relax. The crate replicates a dog’s den, a place that offers security and minimises potential risks while reducing their anxiety.
The ability to have our dog look to us for direction when they are in an elevated mental state should be every owners ultimate goal.

Another video from the facebook archives showing some excellent leadership skills. Again this was filmed in a controlled situation under strict parental supervision.
One of my all time favourite videos so I thought I would share it again on our page. Good leadership and a princess dress is all you need for a good walk with your dogs…….❤️❤️❤️

Today is gonna get a bit warm at 31’ here in Perth! Here’s some good advice from the littlest member of Complete K9! 🌞💦🐕🦺 Anyone else get the feeling that she’s planning a take over and I’ll be out of a job soon….. 😂🤣😂
During one of my consultations this past weekend, I made a suggestion that a family crate train their puppy and they were HORRIFIED….! 😳 But after a long conversation about the benefits, they were on their way to the pet store as I headed off to my next appointment. So I’m sharing this video of one of our crate trained dogs just to show them, and all of you, how much dogs do appreciate their own den. This is Con, our 9 year old Rottweiler. He was crate trained as a puppy and he continued to use a crate when he competed in dog breed shows. When he retired from all that, we packed up his fancy shampoo and shining products 🤣 and stored away his crate so he didn’t use one for many years. Then Frank came along! As a puppy, we wanted to crate train Frank but Con was so happy to see his crate return that we had to buy a second one, and now the boys happily crate side by side. As you can see, Con takes himself to his crate and waits patiently for the door to be closed. Then in 3…2…1… 😴 A crate gives dogs a den which is something that dogs instinctively seek out for comfort and safety. By giving your dog his own den, you will help to reduce his stress levels and ensure that if you dog ever becomes fearful of something in your home environment which can trigger the fight or flight response, that he has somewhere safe to retreat to, avoiding the very much unwanted ‘fight’ response. For dogs who are anxious or struggle with separation anxiety, a crate will help them to feel safe and secure and you will see a reduction in anxiety and associated behaviours. For puppies, a crate is an excellent tool for toilet training to teach the puppy bowel and bladder control which is something they learn as they grow. Dogs don’t like to toilet where they sleep so puppies will learn to hold on a lot earlier than dogs that are not crated. Crates are also handy to contain your puppy when you can’t directly supervise him, therefore preventing him from getti
