💛🌺🌸🌼Can you foster Cordi? 🌼🌸🌺💛
💞We want to bring you the story of Cordi.💞
To say this darling little girl has had a rough run is an understatement. 💔
We were contacted by someone informing us this little (17kg) 3 year old Staffy was about to be euthanised as rescues were full so we contacted the adopters ourselves and found out we basically had 36 hours to sort something.
We then spent hours having to beg the new owners not to euthanise her, pleading to trust our experience and that Cordi had another 10-12 good years to live.
Yes Cordi has been shifted around and sadly that happens in rescue for many reasons but that is not a good enough reason to euthanise.
Cordi has been put through multiple homes since late last year where she entered a large Victorian shelter. She was returned three times then somehow ended up in another Victorian rescue. From there she was adopted and flown interstate to a Perth two weeks ago to a couple with a 12 month old female staffy. Cordi was already nervous and anxious around other dogs. 😞
Rescues are responsible for advocating for the best interests of the animals even if that means upsetting people and saying no!
She should never have been sent interstate to a home with another dog she hadn’t met when it was known she was selective and fearful already. Particularly another young female dog.
Although we aren’t sure what exactly was discussed there appears no backup was arranged here either.
She had no chance to settle, decompress, learn to trust her new humans will protect her, or to slowly associate positives with other dogs and unreasonable expectations were placed on her where she was introduced to four dogs in one session. So Cordi did what she felt she had to when presented with other dogs she was unsure of - she protected herself.
This frustrating situation all lead up to the opinion Cordi needed to be euthanised when in reality she is just another misunderstood dog who hasn
MIKE (CWAA DOG) - ADOPTED
⚠️UPDATE: ADOPTED⚠️
Our darling Magic Mike has become depressed in kennels 😥and we are desperate to get him out. Everyone who meets Mike adores the little man, so we don't know why he still waiting for a foster or forever home. He is an amazing little chunky monkey who ever so loving and affectionate. Mike is also exceptionally smart and very responsive to reward based training.
As you can see in the video he walks nicely on lead and although he is young, he would only need a half hour walk each day combined with play time. Mike would be best suited to a family with teens, or a couple or single person who has had staffies before and want a sidekick to join them in activities.
He would fine with a friendly female staffy or similar sized breed to hang out with during the day, otherwise he is fine to go on his own. He hasn't been assessed with cats, but we think he could be introduced slowly over time in a dog savvy home, as he is only a pup still.
Mike is 12 months old and has had all vet work completed, so if you can help mend Mike's broken heart 💔and bring some magic back into his life, please get in contact by calling us on 0403672486.

ZEUS (CWAA DOG) - ADOPTED
Zeus in training for the Swan Valley Mudfest Muddy Paws Challenge lol. 😂
Zeus was surrendered to a vet as he was going to be euthanased due to being scared of being bathed. He ended up coming into our care at the Canine Welfare Alliance of Australia and was fostered by the lovely Jess, before finding a fabulous new home with loving pawrents Jason and Jill, living the life all dogs dream on 50 acres. Little Zeus is an excellent example of dogs who have been lucky enough to get a second chance thanks to vets and rescues working together.
Check out Zeus having a ball! Going by this video, we think we have a winner right here ;)

There are many people doing wonderful things in the animal welfare industry, and most of the hardest working individuals do so as volunteers. Yvette from Street Cat Appeal Narrogin SCAN is one such person, who we have had the please of working with, and a wonderful example of how a single person can make a huge difference in the community.
Since moving to the town of Narrogin a few years ago, Yvette has saved hundreds of cats from the streets. She spends a huge amount of time hand raising, rehabilitating and caring for street cats and kittens, before sending them to rescue groups for rehoming. Yvette does so without any funding from the council or government, and uses a lot of her own funds to help the felines she rescues. Many come in with illnesses and having never been handled by humans, which means around the clock care and rehabilitation. In a short amount of time, Yvette has managed to make a substantial impact on the number of street cats and kittens in the town of Narrogin which benefits not only the cats, but the entire community. Before she came along, most stray cats were being shot by the ranger, but now they are being given a second chance.
We would love to see local vets, country shires and businesses, get behind community members such as Yvette, by offering discounted services, sponsorship and funding. The larger more well known organisations often receive the bulk of the assistance and media attention, while the small private not for profits are funded by personal finances, and their invaluable contribution to animal welfare is often over looked. These individually run rescues are putting in long hours, 365 days of the year with no respite or time off, as passion and a love for the animals they save, drives them to work as hard as humanly possible.
While not publicly acknowledged, people such as Yvette are making a huge impact on over coming issues in areas often not addressed by local governments and larger organisations, such as stray cat pop
MOLLY (CWAA DOG) - ADOPTED
Adopted Canine Welfare Alliance pooch Molly, spent the first 10 months of her life with little interaction outside a backyard. She was a exceptionally nervous dog, who had little training and was unsure of new experiences, places and people. Despite this, she soon blossomed under the care of her amazing foster family, particularly with the guidance of foster mum Sharon, and canine foster brother, Charlie. Molly then found a home with the lovely Baker family, who took her under their wing and gave her a life she deserved. This is Molly almost a year on, living life to the fullest, having fun in the sun with her new dad at the beach on the school holidays. We couldn't have wished for a better furry-end tail for miss Molly. <3

TIGGER (PRA DOG) - ADOPTED
PLEASE SHARE MY STORY - I AM NEED OF A VERY SPECIAL PERSON TO HELP ME ON MY JOURNEY - I REALLY WOULD LIKE A HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
Every rescue dog has a dream...to find that perfect home who looks past their imperfections, see the beauty that lies within and the loyalty they have to give. Tigger is one of those dogs.
Tigger has been in and out of kennels for far too long and Perth Rescue Angels are desperate to find her long term foster or better still, a forever home. <3
Tigger is an absolute delightful girl to be around. Sadly she has some anxiety which means it can take her a couple of minutes to be sure of someone, but once she feels safe Tigger just wants to be with you. She is very affectionate and loves to be cuddled, seeking comfort from her humans.
Although she is not, Tigger thinks she is half her size, so will try to plonk herself onto your lap. She will also lean up against you so she is being touched to know you are right there beside you. She is a intelligent girl with lots of character, who often sneaks onto the bed, when no one is looking, but is a smart cookie who listens for when you are coming.
Sady Tigger came into rescue a shaking mess, but being on her medication and with lots of support, she settles into new environments much quicker these days. She is a cheeky lady who enjoys chasing balls and running around the yard, playing with her toys, but also loves to just veg out on the couch and watch some television with you.
Tigger loves food, especially pigs ears and will do anything to get one, so there for is easy to train using rewards. She is well trained and well behaved, but will need good fencing and would prefer someone home more often than not. Due to her anxiety, Tigger needs a strictly no pet home as she finds other animals a little too scary at the present time.
It may take a while to find the perfect forever home for Tigger, so if you can't foster or adopt her please share her story so gorgeous Tigger can have a second chance at
These info-graphics are a great example how some dogs don't do well at dog parks. If you dog does not have good doggy manners or is easily frightened by some dogs, learn to understand what their coping threshold is, and take your time to socialise one on one or in smaller groups, before attending dog parks or letting your dog off lead. Rude or bossy behaviour towards anxious or fearful dogs are often the reason behind disputes at dog parks, so body language should be carefully monitored for appropriate interactions.

PADDY (SAFE DOG) - ADOPTED
LOOKING FOR MY FOREVER HOME - 4 YEAR OLD IRISH WOLFHOUND X - PLEASE SHARE
Paddy is such a handsome big boy who has a happy and calm nature. He adores people, is good with most dogs and may even be okay with cats given time. Paddy has a doggy friend whom he meets down the park, who he plays with. He looks forward to these outings and the socialisation he gets from it
Paddy is quite the water baby and loves swimming in the pool. He will also fetch the paper for you from out front and bring it back inside. He enjoys playing with toys, playing fetch and going out for his daily walks. He also likes his cuddles and would make an awesome TV buddy.
Paddy is house trained, knows his commands and is overall very well behaved. He would suit a home with older children only due to his size, or a couple or single person. He is a bigger boy, so would benefit from someone who has experience with bigger dogs.
Paddy has been waiting for quite some time for a home, so if you would like to meet him, please contact SAFE Perth - Saving Perth Animals from Euthanasia for more information or follow the link below.

SHEILA (CWAA DOG) - ADOPTED
UPDATE: ADOPTED
This pretty little lady chasing bubbles is Sheila and she is looking for a loving forever home.
Sheila is your typical ultra friendly, sassy little lady. She adores people, and would make an ideal family member for an active family, who is looking for a young lass, who is well behaved. Her favourite activities are playing with her toys, chasing bubbles, cuddling on the couch or being taken for long walks. She even enjoys a swim on a hot day and loves to play under the sprinklers.
Sheila likes the company of male doggy friends and should be okay with cats, if given the right intro. She is housetrained, has basic commands down pat and is enthusiastic about learning new tricks. Sheila walks well on lead and responds to reward based training fabulously. She just loves to please her handler and bonds quickly with new people.
Sheila considers herself a family dog and has asked that her new owner include her as part of the their life and take her on regular walks. This gorgeous girl has a lovely nature, and is delightful to be around, so will make the perfect addition to an active family, couple or individual. She will do particularly well in a home which wants a dog that although is active, is not boisterous. If you would like to meet Sheila, please phone Mel on 0403672486 to arrange a time to meet her.
