FYI for anyone planning to attend the Community Action Day tomorrow, Wednesday 9 June.

*** EVENT POSTPONED ****

Tomorrow’s RSPCA WA Community Action Day (CAD) planned for Nollamara has been postponed due to Parvovirus being detected in the area.

Vet clinics in Mirrabooka and Yokine have had confirmed cases of Parvovirus, with one dog sadly succumbing to the disease.

It would be irresponsible to bring large numbers of dogs together when we are aware of a spike of cases in the area.

If our staff are exposed, it could also affect the health of dogs in the Shelter.

We are sorry for any inconvenience that may be caused. The event will be rescheduled at a later date, once it is safe to do so.

In the meantime, please take steps to protect your dog.
- Make sure vaccinations are up to date. If your pet is not vaccinated, please take them to your local vet.
- Avoid walking your dog or interacting with other dogs if yours in not vaccinated
- Avoid areas where there have been cases
- if your dog is sick, do not invite people over.

Symptoms to look out for include loss of appetite or your dog not drinking; vomiting, diarrhoea (especially if blood is present) and your dog being lethargic. If your dog shows these symptoms, please contact your local vet as soon as possible.

With no further local cases of COVID-19 overnight, and strong testing numbers, at midnight tonight the lockdown will end as planned.

A range of interim restrictions will remain in place as part of a stepped-down approach. The interim restrictions will be in place for the next four days - specifically from 12.01am Tuesday 27 April, through to 12.01am on Saturday 1 May.

In line with the Perth metropolitan and Peel regions post-lockdown measures, our campuses will open from tomorrow, Tuesday 27 April 2021.

TAFE classes will resume, but all staff and students will be required to wear a mask. Lecturers are permitted to remove their mask while teaching.

The four square metre rule will not apply in classrooms and working environments at TAFE.

Campuses are being cleaned before classes resume, with particular attention to high contact surfaces. Hand sanitizer is available across campuses in key locations. There will also be a small supply of masks for staff and students in the event they require a replacement while on campus.

We encourage people to visit www.wa.gov.au to find more information.

Usual physical distancing and hygiene practices will continue, following the Healthy WA guidelines, particularly those around hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes and staying home if you are unwell.
