Canine Exercise Talk for Pet People

Bring with you a comfy chair or cushion and be ready for a great discussion on how to set your dog/s up for success with breed specific exercise and genetic fulfillment. Two much loved topics which I feel does not reach pet people enough.

I am going to talk about differences in muscle tissue fibre types and how this relates to various breeds for example: hunting breeds such as hounds, herding breeds, guarding breeds or retrieving breeds of dogs. I will also include how we go about exercise requirements for each breed type including biomechanics.

You will begin to look at exercise requirements from a completely different perspective for breed types.

We will also discuss growth and development phases and all life stages and how to adapt your plan for the future.

We will talk about how you go about incorporating genetic fulfillment for your dog within this plan. For your dog and importantly your breed of dog. Often young dogs get rehomed or pet people struggle with so called behavioral issues. Often these are actually just a reflection of a lack of understanding of just how important genetic fulfillment is for your dog.

So come join in on this great opportunity to share in this talk as I do encourage open discussion.

Thanks for all the well wishes and offers of support! We came home this afternoon. Fires still going but mostly under control. Absolutely shattered!!! Dogs thought it was a great adventure.

Willow's reality.
Willow is slated for euthanasia this coming Saturday, the 4th of November, 2023, at 4.15. Her little soul will walk over the bridge. This is Willows' reality.
We have tried everything we possibly can to get this beautiful soul, even just a foster home. She has now been in our emergency kennels for 8 months. She is not coping.
As you can see in the photos, she is no longer carrying weight, regardless of what we feed her, and she's still losing it. She has also started drinking her own urine.
This is NOT the life a dog should live.
The few moments of reprieve that we've managed to give her through sporadic foster care have stopped her stress induced behaviours and have helped her gain weight again. But it's still not enough. The moment she goes back to the kennels, she regresses.
Willow needs a home on her own to decompress. NO other pets of any sort. Her mental health needs rebuilding before she can even comtemplate being around another dog of similar size or larger.
Willow is currently out on foster care for this week only. We can't take her back to the kennels, just to have her continue to deteriorate. We refuse to be that cruel and will do what is right by her. Even though it will absolutely break our hearts to do it.
Willow undeniably deserves a second chance, but she also deserves to get that second chance without having to completely shut down in every aspect possible, both mentally and physically, to get it.
This is our very desperate and final plea to get Willow into a home of her own.
Her time has almost run out.

NAVHDA Breed of the Week no. 24: Slovakian Wirehaired Pointer

The Slovakian Wirehaired Pointer was developed after World War II through selective breeding of German Wirehaired Pointers, Weimaraners, and the Cesky Fousek. It was relatively unknown until the 1990s, when Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and was first introduced into the UK in 1997. Slovakian Wirehaired Pointers are generally regarded as “natural retrievers”, and are typically calm and sociable in the home and with other pets assuming they are socialized early. They are also considered to be very loyal and tireless hunters, and most love the water. The Slovakian Wirehaired Pointer is a very high energy dog, like most versatile dogs, and need plenty of vigorous, daily exercise.

I currently have a litter of 3 Cairn Terrier Puppies. Two of them will be looking for forever homes. The boy and one of the girls, but I won’t know which one till I make my choice at 8 weeks.

They will be liver shunt tested at 9 weeks. And will come with Dogs Australia limited registration, a non breeding/sterilization agreement, microchipped, vaccinations flea/worming up to date, a puppy pack and a lifetime of support.

There is a red boy, and red girl (I think they will be quite a pale red) and a red brindle girl. They are nearly 5 weeks old, so will be ready to leave towards the ends of November.

Both parents have their show titles, and compete in lure coursing and earth dog.

Pups are raised in the home using Puppy Culture, and are socialized with other dogs, cats, sheep, children and a multi of noises/surfaces and other different things.

Pups would also suit show/performance home, willing to consider mains register for the right person.
