A little photo drop of my girl… my sweet, ridiculous, gentle, chaos-in-slow-motion basset hound who somehow managed to be the funniest and softest soul I’ve ever known.
Bessie wasn’t just a dog, she was an experience.
A personality.
A full-blown character arc.
A whole sitcom wrapped in long ears and a tummy that hit the floor about five minutes before the rest of her arrived.
She had the biggest heart of any dog I’ve ever met in my life (and I’ve met A LOT of dogs).
She genuinely believed every person she locked eyes with was a long-lost friend finally returning home.
If you dared make eye contact, you were now in her circle.
She loved to sing.
Not bark … sing.
Opera. Ballads. Emotional storytelling.
If she could have held a microphone, she would have.
She loved her snacks with the passion of a woman who had lived a thousand lives and earned every single treat.
Crumbs? Gone.
Carrots? Yes please.
Anything that fell on the floor? Finders keepers.
She loved basking her tummy in the sun like a solar-powered walrus.
I swear she ran on solar energy, just plug her into a warm patch and she’d stay there until further notice.
She wasn’t strictly a “mummy’s girl,” because She would wander off with ANYONE who offered her a scratch on the head.
No hesitation.
And of course, she was raised by little Lenny…
Which meant she grew up absolutely convinced she was a teacup lap dog.
A tiny delicate baby trapped in the body of a giant croissant with legs.
If you sat down, she was sitting ON you, regardless of whether you were ready for 30+ kg of emotional support basset.
She brought joy into the salon, into our home, into every person and pup she met.
She was adored by clients, comforted nervous dogs, supervised my work (badly), and considered every appointment her appointment.
Bessie lived a life filled with love, snacks, songs, and sunshine, and she gave all that love right back.
She was gentle, silly, stubborn, sweet, and utterly unforgettable.
We love you, Bessie.
Thank you for being the heart of our home and the soul of our story.
Forever our girl. 🤍🌈🐾
