“Do you socialise the big dogs in your care?”

The short answer is no... and here’s why.

For our big dogs, we provide individual care and attention rather than group play. Even the most dog-friendly dogs are kept separate, as this is the safest option for everyone involved.

The only interaction big dogs have with other dogs is from their rooms, where they can safely see and smell their neighbours through barriers. This allows enrichment without the risk of situations escalating.

Large dogs can be difficult to safely separate if things go wrong, and we never want to put our dogs or our team in a position where intervention is required. Our priority is always to keep every dog in our care safe, calm, and comfortable.

🐾 Why is this different for small dogs?
Small dogs may enjoy supervised group time in playpens or exercise fields in small, carefully matched groups, monitored by one or two members of our kennel team.

Altercations are very rare, but if one does occur, our team can quickly and safely remove a dog, making this a manageable and low-risk option for small dogs.

✨ It’s also important to note:
If a small dog is not dog-friendly, they will not be socialised either. Just like our big dogs, they will receive individual care tailored to their needs.

The weather has finally cooled down a little… and that means even more fun in the play pens 😍🐾

All through the hotter days we kept the doggos cool with plenty of water play... so much so that some of our kennel team were starting to look like drowned rats by the end of the day 😂💦 (worth it, obviously).

Now that it’s not quite so scorching, playtime has levelled up even more... zoomies, enrichment, exploring and ALL the happy dog energy 🐕✨

This is what boarding should look like:

Every day our kitties get time out in the cat room for exercise, enrichment and a good stretch 🐾✨
(Don’t worry... it’s always one at a time unless they came in together. Most cats don’t want new cat friends, and we totally respect that.)

My absolute favourite part of playtime?
There is always a bossy cat (or two) who DEMANDS to be let out… even when it’s not their turn… even when they’ve just been out 😹🎤

Honestly, nothing makes me laugh more than having a full-blown argument with a very vocal cat on a Sunny afternoon in Perth.

So… on my way past one of the play pens... 👀
I noticed a big group of little doggos having the BEST. TIME. EVER. 🐕🐕🐕💥

Could I resist?
Absolutely not 🙃

In I went ➡️
Said hello to everyone 👋🐶
Joined the playtime 🎾
And snapped some happy photos 📸😆

Now… where does the wardrobe malfunction come in? 👗💥

Well... not my usual outfit choice, but today I was wearing tights under my skirt 🖤
Why? To hide some pretty impressive bruises on my leg 😅🐾
(Caused by some very enthusiastic big paws… don’t worry... it was my mum’s gorgeous puppy, not any of your gorgeous fluffers! 🥰)

Fast forward to playtime…
Tugging 🐶
Jumping 🐾
Zooming ⚡

And my tights?
💀💔 RUINED. 💔💀

Would I do it again?
Lose another pair of tights?
Jump straight back into the pen?

Hayley... our resident vet nurse 👩‍⚕️ and one half of our AMAZING bird-lady duo 🦜🦜 had a “memories” pop up on her PERSONAL phone the other day 📱✨

And guess what it was full of…

🐦🦜🐤 BIRDS. JUST BIRDS. 🐤🦜🐦

Not holidays 🌴
Not food 🍕
Not nights out 🍷
Not even selfies 🤳

Just bird after bird after bird 😆🪶

And honestly… that’s exactly what you want when choosing where your feathered babies stay while you’re away 💛

We’ve officially regained access to our emails again 🙌
Thank you all so much for bearing with us over the past few days.

Please give us a little time as we work our way through the backlog… we’ve received quite a few emails and are going out of our way to get back to everyone as quickly as possible.

✨🐶 “Why haven’t I seen my pup on social media yet?” 🐶✨

We get asked this all the time, so I thought I’d share a few reasons why your fluffy baby might not have popped up on our socials just yet 📸💭

💥 Reason number one (the BIGGEST one):
Your pup is having WAY too much fun 😆🐕💨
Think wiggly bums 🍑, wagging tails 🐕‍🦺, zoomies ⚡, excited barks 🗣️ and non-stop movement. Super cute in real life 🥰… but it usually means every photo is a blurry mess 🤣📷

🌱 Another reason:
Your pup may be feeling a little timid, shy or still settling in 💕
They still receive all the same love ❤️, care 🫶 and attention as our confident, bouncy pups... but we never push them.
No forced running around 🏃‍♂️, no sitting still for photos 🧍‍♀️, and no calling their name 100 times 📣📣📣 just to get a pic. That can be really overstimulating for nervous doggos 🐾💛

⏳ And the final reason:
We probably do have photos… we just haven’t posted them yet 😅📸
With hundreds of dogs in our care 🐶🐶🐶, we end up with thousands of photos! We only post once or twice a day 📲 and there’s usually a 2–3 day delay between when photos are taken and when they’re shared 🗓️

At the end of the day, our priority is always your dog’s wellbeing, happiness and care 🐾❤️ not social media content.
