UPDATE - Missy has been re-united with her dad and all is well 😇

Malagavet has had a Staffyx brought in after being picked up from around the 711 on Marshall Rd. Her name is Missy and her microchip is registered to an Esperance address. Unfortunately we aren't able to get a hold of her owner or leave a message. Hoping that she is from the area. Please contact Malagavet of 924 3420 if you are her owner.

Did you know this February is our birthday month? 2025 represents 20 YEARS since the doors opened on MalagaVet! No...I can't believe it either!
As a BIRTHDAY GIFT to you this week we have something for our Canine friends:
When was the last time your dog had their Heart Worm preventative?
If this is more than 6 months ago, we have a limited number of FREE HEARTWORM TESTS to check them, prior to giving your dog Proheart injection. This gives protection for a whole year.
The test normally costs around $55.00, so what are you waiting for?
In addition, we can ask your vet to do a FREE dental health check at the same time. Our Feline Friends qualify for the Dental check so there is no missing out for them!
Doubly good birthday gift for you all!
Both Gifts are by appointment only, so call us to book NOW on 9248 3420.🎁🎂🎉

It has come to light recently that Homesafe id, a WA based microchip registry has closed down and will no longer provide services for finding pets that are registered with them. If you happen to know your pet's microchip number, go to petaddress.com.au, enter their number and it will tell you which registry they are with. Central animal records (CAR) and Australian Animal Records (AAR) are NOT affected by this. If your pet is with Homesafe, it would be best to go to either of the alternate sites and register them online. If you don't have your pets microchip number, give us a call and we can look it up for you (or alternatively scan them at Malagavet) and let you know who they are registered with. If any of your pets were microchipped at Malagavet, you will not have to worry as we have only ever registered pets with AAR or CAR.

I think Hudson sums up this week pretty well, just make sure you keep your paws cool at all times! This beautiful black Lab charmed us all today with his happy demeanour in the hospital. Enjoy the cooler weekend weather and perhaps just dip your feet in the nearest water like Huddy!

***PARVOVIRUS WARNING*** KOONDOOLA LOCAL AREA
We know of a second confirmed case this week of Canine Parvovirus infection and illness in a second dog from the Koondoola local area. This deadly virus can survive in public areas such as local parks, which is likely how these cases have been transmitted . The disease can infect dogs of all ages, but those that are unvaccinated or lapsed in their vaccines are at very high risk of deadly illness.
PLEASE, PLEASE , PLEASE get your dog's vaccine updated now, regardless of their age.
Call us now on 92483420 for an appointment before Christmas.

Little friend "Willie" gets all the love from our team for being the happiest and best dressed patient this week at MalagaVet! Willie is a diabetic, so he gets twice daily insulin injections from his loving owner who is devoted to him. We can't possibly imagine how much he means to his family, but he is a special patient who always comes in with a spring in his step and a smile on his face. Have a lovely Christmas - Willie and family!

STOP DUMPING STRAYS IN HOT WEATHER!

Don't abandon innocent cats and kittens to suffer and die in the heat!! Today we took in this mother cat and kittens who had been locked inside the wooden carrier and left in local bush-land, unable to escape😔 Thankfully a person out walking found them and didn't leave them there. On a day like today they would have died of heat exhaustion.

Our nurses fed, watered and bathed them and they have had a vet exam and treatment they needed at Malaga today. All are resting in safety now.

Did you know that there are shelters and rescues offer a safe haven for stray cats? No matter how difficult your situation, dumping animals is never the right answer and in some cases simply cruel.

Let's work together to end this heartless act and neuter pet cats to reduce stray cat numbers! Share this post to spread awareness!

🐾💉 Attention dog owners! A reminder to ensure your furry friend is vaccinated - we have seen a case of Canine Parvovirus (CPV) in a local area (Koondoola) for the first time in a couple of years. This highly contagious virus can cause severe illness and is especially dangerous for puppies. Vaccination builds their immunity and keeps them safe, while also helping protect other dogs in the community. Don't wait—update your adult dogs now or start your pup's vaccination schedule as early as six weeks old! By vaccinating your dogs, you’re protecting them and investing in their long, happy life. Call 92483420 now to make an appointment ❤️🐶
