💊 Tips for Giving Tablets to Your Pets 💊
Do you struggle to give your pet their medication?
We thought it would be a great idea for everyone to share their tips and tricks for giving pets their tablet! We know it's not always easy!
The good old way we recommend is gently tilting their head back, placing the pill on the back of their tongue, and stroking their throat to encourage swallowing.
Or hiding the tablets in food!
If you're thinking of crushing the tablets, please call or email us first so we can check with our vets if the tablet can be safely crushed (as some cannot be).
We also advise against giving tablets in high- fat or highly salted foods.
We'd love for you to share any tips and tricks that work for you and your fur baby. 😀

🐾 Does Your Cat Go Outside? 🐾
🐈Unfortunately, cat fights are quite common. We want to spread awareness of how important it is to seek medical attention as soon as possible if you find your cat has been in a fight.
🦷Cats have a lot of bacteria in their nails and teeth, which can cause severe infections and painful abscesses. Additionally, cat fights can transmit serious diseases such as Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV).
🏥By seeking veterinary attention, you reduce the risk of an abscess building, you manage their pain levels quickly and you get on top of any infections that are about to brew!

We absolutely loved seeing your pictures of your cozy pets! It got us thinking—this info may help you decide if your dog needs a jacket for winter walks.
🐕Short-Haired/Lean Breeds
Examples: Greyhounds, Whippets, Dobermans
Why: Short, thin coats don’t provide much insulation and being muscley means they have less body fat = less warmth. A jacket keeps them warm and comfy.
🐾Small Breeds
Examples: Chihuahuas, Miniature Pinschers, Toy Poodles
Why: Smaller dogs lose body heat faster. A warm jacket helps maintain their temperature.
🧓Senior Dogs
Why: Older dogs struggle with temperature regulation and may have arthritis. A jacket keeps them warm and eases stiffness.
🐶Puppies
Why: Like small breeds, puppies have trouble retaining heat. A jacket keeps them cozy.
🦴Hairless Breeds
Examples: Chinese Crested
Why: No fur means no natural insulation. A jacket shields them from the cold.
🏥 Dogs with Hypothyroidism or Cushing's disease
Why: These conditions can thin their coats. A jacket provides necessary warmth.
Breeds with natural insulation such as Huskies, Malamutes, Newfowlands, Samoyeds etc, won't need jackets as their double coat does all of the cozy work for them!

🐾 Patient Spotlight: Otis 🐾
Meet Otis!
This brave boy recently visited us for a bandage change after having surgery to remove a lump. His owner mentioned that Otis usually doesn't enjoy trips to the vet, especially for procedures like bandage changes.
To help with Otis' anxiety, his owner sprayed Feliway, a calming pheromone spray. We also use Feliway blankets in the waiting room to help our feline friends relax.
During the bandage change, Otis amazed us all. He just laid his head on nurse Jess's hand while Dr. Yvette carefully changed his bandage. Nurse Jess couldn’t believe how relaxed he was!
Well done, Otis, and his wonderful owners for their care and support ❤️
