Puppies have a critical socialisation period between 6-16 weeks, shaping their behaviour for life!

Without proper socialisation, they’re more likely to develop separation anxiety, fear aggression, or reactivity. But here’s the challenge—puppies need multiple vaccinations before they’re fully protected, and by then, this crucial socialisation window is already closing.

🐾 Did You Know? 🐾

Dew claws may seem like an extra toe, but they serve an important purpose! On the front legs, they help dogs grip objects (like bones or toys), provide traction when running, and assist with stability when turning at high speeds. In some breeds, rear dew claws are also present, though they are less functional.

We don’t routinely remove dew claws. Why? Because they are a natural part of a dog’s anatomy and don’t typically cause issues. However, in cases where a dew claw is constantly injured or loosely attached, removal may be necessary for the pet’s comfort and well-being.

Regular nail trims can help prevent overgrowth and injury, so don’t forget to check your pet’s dew claws too!

🏥He came in for a dental and a lump removal and was such a good boy the entire time.

💧🐱Is your cat drinking enough water?🐱💧

Hydration is vital for all pets, but especially for male cats, as they’re more prone to urinary tract issues. Proper hydration can help prevent serious problems like blockages.

Tips to encourage your cat to drink more:
🐾 Provide fresh water daily.
🐾 Try a water fountain, some cats love running water!
🐾 Add wet food to their diet for extra hydration.
🐾Make sure the water bowl is away from the litter tray.

Keeping your cat hydrated is key to their health. If you notice signs like straining to urinate or frequent litter box visits, contact us right away!💧🐱🐾

🌞 Heat Wave Cat Tip! 🐾

This is Nurse Liisa’s cat, Neeko! He’s an old boy who absolutely loves his treats, and what a fantastic idea to freeze them during a heatwave!

Treats like Churu, Happy Snack, or Pretty Wild sticks can be frozen to make refreshing, hydrating snacks for your cats. Simply pop them in the freezer and serve them chilled.

Neeko gives this tip a big paws up! 🐾
