Meet JOAN (JJ)!

We are still accepting adoption applications for JOAN.

Joan is a 9-month-old Catahoula Leopard mix who is hard of hearing (nearly deaf) and partially blind.

The ideal home for JOAN would be:

⭐️ A family with experience handling large breeds/puppies. Joan is strong for her age and very intelligent, so with time and consistency, she can be easily trained.
⭐️ Experience with special needs animals.
⭐️ Someone who understands that Joan will need time, patience, and love to fully adjust.
⭐️ A calm, relaxed environment.
⭐️ While Joan loves children, she is an energetic, lanky puppy. We recommend a home with children aged 12 or older.
⭐️ Joan has separation anxiety and is currently on short-term medication. If you work part-time, she will do fine left at home as she adjusts to a new routine.
⭐️ She enjoys lounging on the couch, snuggling in her bed, and cuddling with her humans.
⭐️ Joan is social with other dogs and would benefit from slow introductions to new canine friends. We believe a dog home with her and another could work (if doggo matches her energy) However, she can also thrive as the only dog as long as she gets daily walks and company.
⭐️ No cat home as this would be over stimulating for her.

🤍 We love JOAN deeply and truly believe there is the perfect family out there for her.

🙏Please help us by sharing this message—your support is much appreciated!

Please Note: While we've received some regional applications, we are prioritizing local adopters to ensure we can provide the close support Joan needs as she adjusts.

Meet Joan – your future best friend!

This charming 9-month-old Catahoula Leopard mix is full of personality and love. Despite being partially deaf and blind, Joan is an exuberant, joyful puppy who thrives on human attention and affection. She’s social with other dogs (after a slow introduction) and adores spending time with her people.

Joan may need a little extra help navigating the world due to her unique superpowers, but with the right family, she’ll flourish. She does experience some separation anxiety, which is being managed with medication as she adjusts to a new home. With patience, routine, and love, Joan will grow more comfortable and confident.

This sweet girl loves to play, cuddle, and explore new adventures. Joan would be an ideal companion for families with older children (12+), and she’s sure to bring endless joy into your life.

Everyone who meets Joan falls head over heels for her, but what she truly longs for is a forever family to call her own. Could that be you?

We would be also open to a foster - adopt situation.

What Joan will need: 🤍🩶🤍
The perfect home for Joan would be a relaxed, calm environment with possibly one other dog who matches her energy or a doggy that could put up with a boisterous at times lanky, large pup. She has not been cat tested as an adult - so a NO CAT home is ideal.
She really needs some one on one time as she adjusts to your home and routine.

Share with your friends 🤍🩶🤍

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

Meet Flores (Baby Ginge)!🐾

Baby Ginge is 11 weeks old and she's a Female Ginger who absolutely fits the 'orange cat' narrative online, she is very quirky!

Baby Ginge came into care as she was found roaming alone at around 3-4 weeks old. Flores is extremely confident and nonchalant about everything except food. She is extremely affectionate (and does not mind if you are a stranger or her carer), she loves the other cats and loves a wrestle or game. She will sleep on your chest, neck or lap and regularly walk right up to your face and rub your nose and face. She will wander up to the neighbours dog (when he visits to acclimatise the kittens) and menace him if he is too excited, or rub on him affectionately if he is not. She sits in the food bowl while she eats so the other kittens cannot get access to it. She will try to steal absolutely any food she can get her hands on. She will speed onto the table to steal potato, toast or avocado directly off your plate. If you leave a glass of orange juice unsupervised she will drink it.

Flores is absolutely one of a kind and she will most likely be a terror in your home but she provides endless entertainment and A LOT of love.

If you think you have room in your heart and home for Flores, and are prepared for her to upend your routine, please head to our website to submit an adoption form:*
https://dontgoastray.org/adopt-foster/
*if you have previously submitted an adoption form for another case, please submit again with 'Flores' specified.

Flores will be available mid-January after completing the last of her vet work. Kitten adoption fees are $350.00. She will be microchipped, sterilised, vaccinated and up to date with flea and worm prevention.

Just a reminder, DGA kittens are rehomed to indoor only homes.

(Please note: completing an adoption application does not guarantee an adoption. Only successful applicants will be contacted.)

If you aren't able to adopt a new friend at this stage, but would like us to support us in rescuing more kittens like Flores, please donate:

❤️TERRIFIC TEREX ❤️

Terex is a handsome adolescent (1yo) seeking love.

He's cuddly and playful and comes fairly well trained, having done puppy school twice. He just needs someone willing to carry on his training and give him lots of exercise.

If you're willing to put in a bit of time, then Terex would make the perfect companion.

Meet Fernando!🐾

Fernando and his brother Francisco (also seeking his forever home) came into care when they were only little. Fernando has been an absolute delight since he came in. These brothers had a rough start to life and due to Francisco's eye spent a bit of time in and out of the vet hospital. They have both been little troopers and are so friendly and affectionate. We have brought two individual kittens in to be socialised with these two brothers and they have been such great role models!

Fernando is adorable and always wants to cuddle, he has a sweet little chirp and is very much a lap cat! Fernando is confident with other cats and kittens and is very social. He has a real soft spot for the resident cat in his foster home too!

We would absolutely love to keep the brothers together however we are accepting applications for them individually too!

If you are interested in meeting Fernando and feel he is a good fit for your home, please head to our website and fill in an application 🍀

Meet Francisco!🐾

Francisco came into care with his brother at 3/4weeks of age. Unfortunately he had an eye injury and required urgent surgey. The wonderful team at performed the surgery and cared for the two little brothers for us and he's recovered splendidly!

Francisco is now a confident and smoochy boy who loves a cuddle and a wrestle. He will call for you in the house and once you call back he comes running over for a smooch. His remaining eye is so very knowing and he will stare at you while you cuddle. He's very loving! Francisco can be lead astray by his siblings to play with the house plants but is usually found trying to hide his stuffed toys, bathe the other kittens or he's looking for you for a cuddle!

If you think you have room in your heart and home for Francisco, please head to our website to submit an adoption form:*

Meet Peter and Griffin!🐾

These two littermates are around 7 weeks old and are extremely playful. They absolutely love wrestling eachother! They're not at all bothered by their dog housemates or their adult cat foster brother, they just have eyes for eachother and a game!

They're easygoing in new environments and with new people and will do almost anything for food! They'll give a solid purr when they're in the mood for a cuddle, but are easily distracted by a game.

If you are interested in meeting Peter & Griffin and feel they are a good fit for your home, please head to our website and fill in an application 🍀

Meet Joan - 7 months old 🤍.

Joan was originally surrendered to a veterinary hospital as a puppy and was later adopted into a forever home. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, she has returned to the care of our rescue. We’re now dedicated to finding her the perfect family!

Joan is a 7-month-old Catahoula Leopard Dog. She’s up to date on all her veterinary care, including three puppy vaccinations, sterilization, flea and worm treatments, and she is microchipped.

Joan is truly special. Born partially blind and deaf, she doesn’t let that stop her. Her loving, playful, and mischievous personality shines through, and she’s eager to show that she’s capable of anything— and we believe she is!

Because of her unique needs (or as we like to call them, her superpowers), Joan needs a family that will work with her. While she’s very social, she’ll do best as the only dog in the household, or with a calm, respectful dog (preferably female) who can give her the space she needs.

Joan holds a very special place in our hearts, and we’re also open to a foster-to-adopt situation for the right family.

We have had two sweet babies come into care over the weekend after being found on an industrial estate 🐈
They were both very dehydrated, dirty and stressed!

Unfortunately one of these babies was having eye trouble and took incredible care of them and relieved a lot of his discomfort so he could come into foster care. After getting home to foster care over the first night his eye deteriorated and he was rushed to and the decision was made to perform an enucleation. He is doing absolutely incredibly and is so much more comfortable!

We will be introducing these two gorgeous babies over the next week as they settle in and we learn their personalities. But we wanted to take an opportunity to thank the wonderful veterinary hospitals who are able to assist us in saving lives.

We are needing to raise funds to assist us in covering his surgery and medications. If you are in a position to assist we are, as always, incredibly grateful. It is your support that allows these creatures another shot!

Please donate or share this post to help us out. 🐈‍⬛

Introducing Achilles 🐰

Achilles was born on 13 January 2024 (9 months old). He is a medium-large REW male with a delightfully adventurous, intelligent, quirky, and loving personality!
All he wants is to be loved! Achilles loves to explore outside; the sheer amount of zoomies and binkies is next-level impressive! He is always around his family and is very curious as to what everyone is doing or, more importantly if it's treat time yet! He likes to park his body under the dining table and dead-flop, albeit with one ear open!

Achilles loves to be groomed and brushed, usually ending with plenty of teeth purring and clicking! Lots of head pats and ear twirls on his level are his absolute favourite; he'll be asleep in no time. He is fully toilet trained, very clean, and is one bun that likes to keep himself looking dapper with plenty of self-grooming.

Achilles has been largely a free-range rabbit with a penned home base. He would suit a home where he is a spoilt single bun and accepted as an important member of the family—not just a rabbit. He's looking for someone who will spend time with him and work on his self-confidence and trust.

Achilles finds himself looking for a new home after a big fallout with his bonded brother Odysseus. Unfortunately, after a terrible fight, the boys simply couldn't be rebonded, no matter how hard his family tried. For the safety of both rabbits, his family made the tough decision to rehome Achilles, and while a home is being found, he remains with his loving family.

Achilles has been desexed, vaccinated and microchipped with . He is in excellent health and condition.

Please submit your adoption application if you have room in your heart and home for Achilles.

Meet Yoshi & Bowser, the lovebirds with ! 💖🐦

These two adorable male lovebirds are inseparable and will make the perfect feathered companions for a loving home. Yoshi is shy at first, but they're both very sweet and affectionate, especially with their favourite human.

Yoshi is still getting used to human touch, but he's becoming more comfortable with consistent training and gaining his trust. Hands can be scary, but his carer has been successful with hand-feeding his favourite treats. Bowser, on the other hand, is a total cuddle bug who loves to perch on your shoulder, cuddle in your hair, and receive kisses.

Both birds have a healthy appetite and enjoy a variety of fresh vegetables, including mesculin salad, 4 leaf salad mix, bean sprouts, and broccoli.

If you're looking for a pair of loving and entertaining companion birds, Bowser and Yoshi are the perfect match! They're sure to bring joy and laughter to your home.

BON SCOTT - 5 weeks old!

From a prison cell (He was found in a prisoners cell within the walls of a prison farm) to the beautiful luxury of a foster home, Bon is thriving! He eats like a champion and is very human affectionate. He will come to you when you call him with lots of meow's & he loves any attention.

He is a total cuddle bug an an absolute purr pot. He adores snuggling up for some quality cuddle time and is always ready for a play session with his favourite toys. With a playful spirit and a love for food, he'll definitely let you know when it's mealtime, his adorable demands are hard to resist!

Our amazing foster carer's family snapped these gorgeous photos of him, which really shows you his cheeky personality.
