🐾 Saturday 1st of Feb @ 8.15am social obedience class - located at Rockingham foreshore

🐾 Tuesday 4th of Feb @ 6pm Hooper's- Located at 984 eighty road baldivis

🐾 Thursday 6th of Feb @ 6pm Group obedience- Located at 984 eighty road baldivis

All classes run for 8 weeks.

For obedience classes, week 1 is humans only to go through foundation skills including leash handling (this is one of my favourite classes and a good way to sharpen up your skills).

New Years Eve - Fire works 🎆

The noise and unpredictability of fireworks can be very overwhelming and scary for some of our furry best friends!!!!

To make sure your fury friend is as comfortable as possible and reduce the risks of escape here is a list of things to consider-

🐾 Bring your dog inside. Even if your dog spends most of their time outdoors, it is a good idea to bring them in during the fireworks. This will reduce the risks of them from running away if they feel scared/panicked, which can put them in danger.

🐾 Create a Safe Space: If your dog is crate-trained, make their crate available, as that’s probably already a safe space for them. Alternatively, using their bedding, toys and blankets to create an area were they feel comfortable.

🐾 Close windows and doors to try and lessen the sound.

🐾 Playing music or white noise can be helpful in drowning out the boom of fireworks.

🐾 Close blinds to block out/ reduce the flashes of the fireworks.

🐾 If your dog is able to eat, have plenty of liki and snuffle mats ready to go, as licking and sniffing can help in reducing stress while also helping in creating good feelings/emotions (if your dog is distressed, it is very likely they will be unable to eat during this time).

🐾 Calmly sitting and comforting your dog. You can't reinforce emotions, so please calmly talk and reasure your dog.

🐾 If your dog is medicated, make sure to give their medication ahead of the time (as indicated by your personal veterinarian).

🐾 Desensitize: Try working with your dog well in advance of firework-heavy holidays to desensitize them to fireworks and other loud noises. You can start this process by playing fireworks sounds on a low level while playing with your dog and giving them treats. Over time, slowly increase the sound of the fireworks during these play sessions.

Continued education to make sure we give our clients (both dogs and humans) the best training practices, is of great importance to me!

Currently on a 5 day course presented by the amazing Ken Ramirez at the Perth Zoo.

Ken's knowledge, both theoretically and practical in the real world, has been invaluable and has expanded the way I think over the past 3 days.

Truly a privilege to be able to sit in his lectures.

Looking forward to being able to bring knew knowledge into the way I work with both dogs and their humans ❤️

We have 2 spaces left for our new group obedience class starting this Saturday!

This class is for existing clients whether that be private or group.

Every other weekend will be at the foreshore to put your skills into real world scenarios.

Alternate weeks will be held in Baldivis.

This is a great way to also work in a fun, upbeat environment, helping to bring confidence and independence to our handlers. This eighty week class is packed with fun!
