I need your help to finish my comprehensive list of breeds of chickens readily available in Australia, including game fowl and rare breeds, for my breed weight chart I am putting together.

Pop a list in comments of the breeds you have in your flocks, if you can, include a photo, we always love to see your chickens.

I would also love to hear from breeders to make sure I capture anything I have not thought of.

One of the things we have to do, so we can provide you with a variety of beautiful heritage breed chickens, is grow out new breeding stock every couple of years.

This bunch of lovely chooks are a small portion of what we have been growing as either new breeds to increase our range or replacement flocks of breeds we already have.

In this free range pen they can search for bugs and enjoy the freedom of where they roost for the night, either in the coop or in the grass, we don't lock them in at all so they are truly free ranging while being protected from predators.

It is such a joy to see our next flock of New Hamphire finally coming onto the lay.

The cockerels aren't quite ready to breed just yet, but that gives the girls a chance to really start laying some larger eggs that I can incubate for lovely large, strong chicks.

The original girls are now retired to my free range eating egg flock.🥚

We should have some chicks starting to hatch by the end of Autumn.

We have a set delivery fee of $70 plus gst per order, plus the cost of your chickens.

Meet 'Miracle', the duckling that compost incubated.

Yes, you read correctly.
I was doing my usual feed rounds this morning when I found this little soul, sitting in a nest of eggs that I had been waiting for a duck to go broody and start sitting on. She was, oh so quietly, looking at me😍

I quickly scooped her up and took her to a nice warm brooder to warm her up, she was a little chilled at first but is now a happy warm baby.

Since she is the only duckling I have at the moment, I thought maybe someone would have another duckling friend for her to grow up with.

She is an Australian Call duck and unsexed. I am just calling her a she for the story.


So, we had lots of good try's at guessing our new bantams but no-one guessed Araucana.So here they are, our new BANTAM L...

So, we had lots of good try's at guessing our new bantams but no-one guessed Araucana.

So here they are, our new BANTAM Lavender Araucana.

So now we have a bantam greeny/blue egg layer for all those who keep bantams

We look forward to them starting to lay so we get some chicks hatching - I would suspect that will be the end of Autumn.
