🍢☀️🥩BBQ SEASON & PANCREATITIS🥩☀️🍢

The tasty steak and sausages on the BBQ make for a delicious meal, we are sure your pets would love a taste too!🍖
As tasty as a BBQ is, meats such as steak, sausages, ham, chicken skewers etc. can cause severe tummy upsets in our pets often resulting in a condition referred to as "pancreatitis".
This means the pancreas has become inflamed and painful, often requiring hospitalisation for a few days. In serious cases, they may become diabetic (that means needles daily).

Kebab skewers when eaten by dogs and/or cats can potentially cause a foreign body in your pet. This means your pet will become ill very quickly, and in most cases will require a major, invasive and costly surgery to remove the foreign body.

Enjoy the warmer evenings and keep the food pet friendly.🐱🐶

🐍!SNAKES ARE OUT AND ABOUT!🐍

⚠️REMEMBER, EVERY SECOND COUNTS WITH A SNAKE BITE!
THIS IS AN EMERGENCY THAT SHOULD NOT WAIT!⚠️

It's that time of year again where the weather warms up and snakes become more active.
We have seen cases as early as August this year and with the amount of calls and emergency cases we have been getting in the past few weeks, it's always a good idea to brush up and be prepared if your pet is bitten this season.

Some symptoms of a snake bite may include:
- Sudden onset weakness and collapse.
- Vomiting
- Panting
- Dilated pupils
- Muscle tremors
- and paralysis, just to name a few.

If you suspect your pet has been bitten, call a vet IMMEDIATELY to be seen ASAP.☎️

🪱INTESTINAL WORMING REMINDER🪱

Are your pets up to date with their worming?
The worming schedule for dogs and cats can differ, depending on the age of your pet and what product you are using.

As a rule of thumb, dogs and cats should be treated for intestinal worms every 3 months.🐶🐱

Give us a call to find out if you are treating your pets accurately! 🐾

🐾😱12 MONTHS FLEA & TICK TREATMENT😱🐾

Wollondilly Animal Hospital now offers year-long flea and paralysis tick protection for dogs in one dose.🐶
That's 12 months of flea and paralysis tick prevention! Yes please!

Ensuring the safety of your dog from fleas and paralysis ticks is crucial year-round.
Fleas and ticks are not just a nuisance, they can potentially threaten your dog's health, no matter where you live. In Australia, the paralysis tick is one of the most dangerous parasites with just one female adult tick bite capable of causing life threatening illness and even death to your beloved dog. That is why it's vital to prioritise year-round prevention in conjunction with daily searching for and removal of any ticks found.
Symptoms of tick paralysis include:
- Weakness in limbs
- Changes in the sound of their bark
- Rapid or difficulty breathing
- Coughing, gagging, or vomiting.
If you believe your dog is exhibiting symptoms of tick paralysis, contact us immediately
Remember prevention is better than treatment.

Give us a call to discuss updating your dog's flea and tick treatment today

🌷🌹🌼🐾ALLERGIES🐾🌼🌹🌷

For some dogs, Spring time means allergies.🐾
Our dogs love a good scratch, but how do you know when it's a sign of an underlying allergy?

An allergy could be caused by bacterial and/or yeast infections, parasites, or can even be caused by something in their food or the surrounding environment.
Imagine not being able to tell someone that you are itchy!
Keep an eye out for one or more of the following symptoms:
- Redness
- Hair loss
- Regularly chewing, scratching, licking and/or biting
- Sores
- Scooting
- Darkened areas of the skin and more.

Remember that an allergy can't be fixed, it can only be managed!🐾

You know your dog better than anyone else, but if you see one or more of the following symptoms then we’d highly recommend getting in touch with us asap!🐾
Give us a call to book your appointment!

Our Story

Welcome to Wollondilly Animal Hospital!

Our practice opened in 2005, a few years after our sister clinic in The Oaks (Burragorang Veterinary Clinic). Dr Rhys Erskine saw a need for high quality veterinary services and wanted to bring this to the Wollondilly Shire. Our team are fortunate to have made many life long friendships with our clients and their furry friends, and hope to continue this with both new and existing clients.
