Let's talk HEARTWORM!
Below is a video of Heartworm in a sample of blood! This is not normal!
Believe it or not, heartworm is actually spread by biting mosquitoes! 🦟
Heartworm is completely separate from intestinal worms, as heartworm attacks, you guessed it, the heart!
While we can't rid all mosquitoes by spraying Mortein continuously, we can help protect our furry friends from these deadly parasites by keeping their heart worming prevention up to date.
For dogs, Proheart SR12 is an injection available to give your pooch year round protection. This is often done at the time of vaccinations, but can be done at any point.🐶
Heartworm is not as common in cats as it is in dogs, but cats should be treated also.🐱
Give us a call to find out more about the benefits of heartworm prevention.

Do you have a pet that hates coming to the vet? Then stay tuned this one is for you.
‘You can’t teach old dogs new tricks’ ... or can you? 🤷♀️
Meet Gus, and watch him show off his new trick (at 7 years old 🙊). Its not ‘sit’ or ‘shake?’. His trick is realizing his local vet staff are friends NOT food 🐶🥰🐶
Gus used to be so overwhelmed by fear coming to the vets that he would lash out, and who could blame him it can be a scary place. He used to have to be muzzled outside and even then he was so stressed he couldn’t enjoy the pats or treats we where trying to give him. This was not only stressful for Gus but for everyone because all we wanted was to help and be liked by him. It wasn't easy but through hard work, determination and understanding we were able to help his mum come up with a plan to slowly make him more comfortable at the clinic, making his visits fun and treat filled versus anxiety ridden experiences for everyone involved.
So if you have a pet who you have been avoiding taking to the vet for their annual injections or even just a checkup (as you know it is not a fun experience), give us a call and let’s work together to teach your furry friend this life changing new trick.
Do you have a new puppy?
Are you unsure on where to start with their training?
Well then puppy preschool is for you 🙂
In puppy preschool your newest member of the family will not only learn the basic building blocks like sit, drop and stay they will learn how to be gental with their mouths (we all know puppy teeth are like little needles), off /take will also teach them to leave things that should not be in there little destructive mouths.
Whilst all of these behaviours are important the main focus of puppy preschool is socialising with other people and puppies outside of their immediate families. This helps to ensure your new family member is well adjusted and friendly in all situations.
