Breeder perspective-

Every breeder knows what we all go through, including properly screening potential buyers for our horse/foal sales. We take a lot of heat for not doing "xyz" this way or that, to dealing with fickle buyers or those that just simply aren't honest with themselves, or sadly, with us.

Breeders take pride in their programs and "products" and the majority do it for the love of the breed over any potential amount of income that offsets operating expenses, or doesn't. It's truly a horse crazy phenomenon and a deeply rooted passion that tends to put the horse's well-being even above our own.

We have to deal with dishonest people with limited resources to properly vet them, where their "word" means little in a society that wants it all served on a silver platter without giving anything in return except for the pursuit to "one-up" or rip others off whenever possible.

In this industry, unlike the early 2000's, we have seen it all! Fortunately our horses have gone on to good homes but it was hell getting them there.

We live in a society where integrity has been lost, where there's no such thing as a handshake, and where people feel they can impose and inconvenience the breeder just because they can, and with little regard to the impacts of their failed "honor" and commitments. We've become a society of taking instead of giving, or even making it mutually rewarding.

I understand this is harsh but I can do that easily 😂

The amount of time invested and wasted on would-be customers is painstaking and extensive. That's not to imply that all breeders are created equal either because I've encountered some that would do the breed a favor by removing their "shingle."

There's no easy answer on this subject regardless whether the person is a customer or breeder when integrity vacates the heart and mind.

The biggest take-away for us has been the pride we feel in always doing the very best for the horse and the customer. To stand up tall behind our word with full disclosure, even if it meant risking a sale. Not every horse is meant for every customer! It's really that simple.

I wanted to put this out there because I have had the unfortunate benefit of seeing people now as compared to those in the early 2000's. It's been frightening witness to the lack of decency in all areas of life, and especially in the equine industry.

As you all move forward I hope you will pause to look at the quality of the individuals on both sides of the sales transaction. It is my hope that for the breed, people find a way to get back to being honorable and kind with mutual respect for one another. It is probably a much bigger mountain to climb but one that is necessary for breeders/customers who are weary of the bad taste left in their mouths.

On behalf of a few breeders I have spoken to recently, we work our arses off to save the breed (grow it) and who is going to save us? I suspect some customers may feel the same. Let's all do better!

Due to change in direction, Wirraway Copyright CH is unlikely to be producing any more purebreds, and this could be your possible last chance to get a grey c**t you can use on 98% of purebred Morgan mares.

Zeus is by MEMC Crown Royal, and the only entire by him atm, and as a bonus, carries 1 copy of the splash gene.

Both boys are sweet temperamented, lead, tie, pick up feet and as most morgans are, easy to catch.
