The point Clare vet hospital has recently undergone refurbishment. The upgrade includes a private room for when those tearful decisions arise and loved ones are farewelled. Separate entry away from main hospital, comfortable, in a non clinical environment, with enough space for the whole family to come if they wish.

💥Heatstroke warning💥

Temperatures are set remain high over the coming days.

💥Keep your pet cool and keep them Indoors with access to plenty fresh cool water!
💥Be aware that even though your pet is swimming at the beach or in the pool they can still suffer from exposure to the sun and exhaustion from the heat!
💥Sand is HOT under their little feet and pavement and pavers around the pool can burn them.
💥Only walk dogs in the cooler temps of the early morning or late evening.
💥NEVER leave in the car even for a few short minutes

Brachycephalic breeds (short snout) and elderly pets, over weight and long coated breeds are particularly susceptible.

Signs include-
Excessive Panting
Difficulty breathing
Unable to settle
Vomiting
Drooling

💥Watch out ticks about 💥

Although a year round threat - with this warmer weather upon us, we have seen an increase in the number of animals with tick paralysis.

It’s imperative your pet’s tick prevention is up to date and daily tick searches are a must to help keep these dreaded parasites at bay. We have plenty of tick prevention products suitable for both cats and dogs available at our Point Clare and Umina veterinary hospitals

Signs of tick paralysis include:

💥Change in bark or meow
💥Wobbliness on hind legs progressing to front legs- loss of coordination
💥Difficulty getting up and sitting down
💥Gagging/retching/vomiting
💥Difficultly breathing - laboured/rapid
💥Blinking can also be affected

If your pet is showing any of these signs seek veterinary attention asap!

We met one of the most adorable babies this week.

Rocky the tiny Cavalier puppy was a very brave boy during his visit for his check up. 🐾

We’re looking forward to watching him grow and being a part of his journey 🐾
