My name is Kim, I am the owner and operator of Redlum Breeders - Boston Terriers Australia.
Experienced in nearly 10 years with the coloured Boston Terriers internationally. I spent years living in Canada, working with the right pure bred lines, with a number of great reputable breeders in USA and Canada, to prepare the right breeding pairs for import. Moved back to Australia in 2018, leaving behind some great people - buyers, breeders and vets/vet techs . I am happy and excited to continue growing my relationships in Australia.
I am a small inhouse breeder, registered with MDBA but previously registered with Canadian Kennel club. My dogs are on one of the best, most natural diets you can get(Raw). Breeding dogs are DNA health tested for DM, JHC, HUU, CERF, BAER and full colour panels. They are registered with 2 or more registries around the world - Canadian Kennel club, American Kennel club and MDBA.
My job as a breeder is not just fulltime but 24/7 dedication . Adult dogs and pups always have my company, they are very social, grown up around humans, children, kept safe, warm, fed, daily clean soft bedding, clean pen set ups for pups( cleaned 2-3times a day), constant training on adults, early training for pups (sit/food manners/come/crate/potty/name calling), meal prepping (I make my own dog food), vet appointments, maintain grooming on all pups and dogs, deworm all pups and adults, do paperwork (for pet registry, vet, desexing, health guarantees, organising your pups insurance, puppy bag, DNA clinics, imports etc), keep up with web maintenance, photos/videos for each buyer and past, continuous study, interviews, whelpings, tube/syringe feedings if needed, eagle eye - any small sign of fading pup, Im on it like a hawk, breedings, deliveries, collections and imports for breeding and the list goes on.
This Redlum page is used not just for planned litter updates, up coming litters or photos/videos. It is also used for future buyers to see our breeding history, pen setups, puppy living, previous buyers reviews/comments and is a bully free zone - we do not tolerate hate of the breed OR colour.
Additional information/notes:
If you come across an available pup, please messege me via email or facebook . This is the quickest way to get questions answered, paperwork sent/completed, photos taken and deposit acceptance - to hold you pup. I always highly recommend this, as I could be unable to talk.
As a breeder, I will always have 1st right for picks of the litter. If I choose to pend a puppy for DNA purposes, it is not due to health reasons BUT for me to evaluate pups full breeding potential.
I do not give anyone priority over anyone else. Everyone deserves a pup. With the quiz and paperwork complete, a Non refundable deposit of $1000 holds your pup. IF pup has been sold prior to sending a deposit, you will be notified asap.
Pups will come with:
Limited registration, Sales contract, 1 year health guarantee, microchip, vet/spay and neuter contract, desexing contribution, age appropriate vaccinations, vet checked, vet health certificate, vaccination booklet, vaccination/deworming/treatment/procedure schedule, Redlum pups birth certificate, information receipt - attached to sales contract, food sample, dewormed x3 and parasite treated for coccidia and giardia, first aid kit, flea treated, early puppy training, socialized with kids and dogs, familiarized with family/home environment, puppy feeding schedule AND a puppy pack which includes:
Crate - with our home scent(and mums), puppy pads, blanket with mums scent, toy with mums + siblings scent, p**p bags, bowl, discount card for βfresh patch grassβ, treats, collar, puppy chew. Loads of other things.
And later this year all pups that leave the Redlum house will be BAER tested with the electronical BAERCOM device. A highly recommended testing to be done on Boston Terriers. This testing is VERY hard to find here in Australia. But one of the most common testings done in USA and Canada. We are lucky enough to finally find a fully qualified technician in NSW.
Can pup be shipped? Of course. I take many precautions and use Jet Pets. I supply a suitable sized crate for ventilation, with water bowl firmly attached. Pups crate will be personally dropped off at departure, zip tied closed, pup will be on blanket(mums scent) and in its personal/familiar crate. Pup is kept in air conditioned environment while waiting for departure and promptly put on designated plane(with air conditioning), strapped down safety. At arrival point, pup will head straight to designated pick up area. You will show ID and paperwork(reference number) if required, prior to receiving your pup. Depending on destination, shipping can roughly cost $100-$300. No extra fees for crate as pup already comes with one. Shipping needs to be done promptly to acquire a vacant spot on the plane(this can be limited in some flights/aircrafts).
What should I prep for as a new pet owner?
TRAINING - Please be aware this is a big leap for pup. Leaving his familiar surroundings and entering something totally different. I try to make transition as easy as possible for my buyers. This includes the start of early basic obedience, getting pup use to natural home noises and movement, get pups confident on common surfaces (hard wood, tiles, verandah, brick, carpet, small obstacles etc), pups begin crate training and independant sleeping. This is to reduce anxiety pup will get on the 1st few nights.
Remember to take it easy on pup the first few days she/he is there. I know its hard, and exciting, your new pup has arrived! But holding off visitors, or any unnecessary travel(taking pup to the shops, work, family events etc) will help your pup adjust quicker and prevent extra stress/anxiety, which in term can cause immune system to drop and pup will be more vulnerable to sickness.
SET UP - If you chose to set up a pen while your away(at work/school etc), this is a smart choice. Have puppy pads(in a holder, to prevent chewing), toys for entertainment, secure bowl, opened crate. OR some even chose to crate train. Prevent accidents from occurring while your are gone. Pups can chew anything and everything. Puppy proofing is always recommended.
FOOD - I will send pup home with food samples. Buyer is to order/buy this product in advanced, and continue the diet for 20 days to a month. Changing the pups diet so quickly after arriving in a new environment, will cause stress and potentially lower the immune system. Which can lead to health issues.
VET - Have your vet ready and booked for pups 1st check up. Once pup arrives, you have 72 hrs to visit your vet and have pup evaluated. This is to give you peace of mind pup is in good health(no obvious life threatening hereditary issues) , keep health guarantee valid, schedule future appointments and to visually show the vet all treatments that have been completed prior (this prevents over treatment which can cause health issues and sometimes death - especially if over vaccinated).
OBEIDIENCE - As a breeder, I can only do so much. Your pup will not be fully obedience trained, or fully house broken. That is unrealistic for young pup. Your pup will have an idea of the command or task set upon them. The muscles on the pups bladder are not fully formed like an adult, they cannot hold for long period and if not provided with a toilet accidents WILL happen. On going training is always recommended for any new home owner. To have to perfect dog, training needs to be constant/daily and always positive. βPup is what you createβ.
