During the holidays, dogs are 4 times more likely to get into chocolate. Whether theyโ€™ve eaten a little or a lot. itโ€™s important to call Pet Poison Helpline and your veterinarian (or Smart.Vet if your vet is closed) as soon as possible to determine the best course of action. The type of chocolate and your dogโ€™s size has a major impact on what youโ€™ll need to do, but ALWAYS call pet poison control to get professional advice.

Symptoms of theobromine poisoning (also called chocolate or cocoa poisoning) include: vomiting and diarrhea, excess thirst and urination, tremors and muscle spasms, restlessness, panting, and seizures. Dark and baking chocolate, which have the highest concentration of cocoa, are the most dangerous, followed by semi-sweet and milk chocolate.

The best thing you can do for your pets is keep chocolate and baked goods including chocolate well out of your pupโ€™s reachโ€ฆ including wrapped gifts under the tree! ๐ŸŽ

** This post does not constitute veterinary advice and you should always contact your pets veterinarian and pet poison control if they have eaten anything, in any quantity, out of the ordinary **

If anyone sees Max, please call the clinic ASAP with any information. He has been missing for 4 weeks from Cooroibah and has been an indoor kitty for 12 years, very unlike him to have done a runner. Owners would like to know either way. 07 5485 0088

This little Eastern Grey was found not so happily hopping around the Pomona Cooroy Football grounds by a local mower. Our amazing Brooke was able to sedate him and bring him into the clinic where we found suspected chemical burns to his face, hands, and behind his ears.

After being inspected and cleaned, a wildlife carer collected the little guy ready to be rehabilitated and eventually, released back into the wild.

If you come across injured wildlife, give us a call on 5485 0088 or call ANARRA on 5343 4859 for advice. Your call makes all the difference ๐Ÿพ

Smokey is in need of a new home ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›

"A beautiful loving and affectionate cat who loves plenty of pats and tummy rubs.
He is an active cat who would suit anyone who will give him attention or a family with primary school or teenage kids as he enjoys being played with and following people around in the garden. His eating routine is simpleโ€ฆ a tin of tuna in the morning meat at night and some kibble. He has a good routine. He is a very clean cat and always uses the litter tray or outside, never in the house. Whilst he has a thick double coat, it is not long and requires only the occasional brushing. He spends a lot of time grooming."

Smokey is 4 years old and had been desexed and microchipped. Please message us or phone the clinic on 5485 0088 if you think you can be his fur-ever family ๐Ÿพ

Thank you to everyone enquiring about these puppies as we know there has been a huge outpouring of support, we will continue to provide updates as they carry on their journey here with us ๐Ÿถ

The two dumped puppies are safe and sound ๐Ÿพ

Thank you to everyone who called concerned about these two senior pups, and to the lovely family who was able to bring them in. Found together left in a crate, they are both in desperate need of serious dental care due to rotten teeth, and they both will be clipped and bathed due to the poor state of their coats.

Be sure to watch this page for updates on their progress as they get some much needed TLC from the team ๐Ÿถ
