Snake season is upon us and our precious little LouLou is lucky to be with us after she found herself on the menu... LouLou is a 1.5kg adult Chihuahua. She was out playing in the yard when she was grabbed, bitten and held on the ear by a python. It double wrapped itself around her throat and body and was strangling her. I was inside at the time but heard the awful yelping sound and immediately ran out to find her knowing that something was wrong. The sound got softer and more muffled as it strangled her tighter and cut off her airways… Luckily my other chihuahua was standing beside her and the snake barking so I found her straight away…I absolutely did not expect to come out and find the scene that I did. I made it to her just in time to unwrap the snake from around her throat and body and to unclamp the snakes jaw from her ear and ultimately save her life. Had 10-20 more seconds passed she would have died from lack of oxygen and/or having her neck broken and body crushed. This was a terrifying experience and I urge all chihuahua owners to be aware and be careful when letting your chihuahuas go out into the yard unsupervised. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined this to happen. We are very lucky to have our little LouLou and very grateful that we made it to her in time. The snake was relocated. LouLou was seen to and treated by our vet and has since made a full recovery 🙏💖💕
