A lot of people think kangaroos are a protected species because they’re native.

They’re not.

In NSW, the Biodiversity Conservation Act allows the issuing of licences that authorise the killing of kangaroos for commercial “harvesting”. Licenses to harm are also issued to landholders who want to kill kangaroos on their property.

Essentially, the very legislation and government departments that are supposed to protect kangaroos do the opposite: they allow thousands of kangaroos to be killed every night, their joeys bludgeoned to death or left to flee and die alone.

We KNOW kangaroo killing is cruel and unsustainable.
We KNOW that up to 40% of kangaroos shot do not receive a headshot, often dying slowly from secondary trauma.
But we also know that many landholders and shooters think it’s their right to kill native animals all for the sake of $$$.

Australia must learn to live in harmony with the animals that were here long before the colonisers. And that means abolishing the archaic, colonial attitude of shooting everything that moves.

She needs to go home to her family.

*** Comments have been turned off. Please send a PM if you have any information to assist us so we can make contact with Max's owner. Max is not coping at all... it took staff 4 hrs to eventually get this terrified boy out of the over night kennel. The reality is we can only accept surrendered animals if we have room and if they are able to cope in a pound environment ***

- Do You Know Max? -

This boy was placed in the overnight kennels at our Charmhaven facility by his owner along with a note that has no contact details.

We have been unable to get through to the number listed on his microchip.

Max is extremely fearful in the pound environment and is not coping.

TO REITERATE - THE NIGHT KENNELS ARE NOT TO PLACE YOUR OWN ANIMAS IN - THEY ARE FOR GENUINE STRAY DOGS ONLY.

Are you Max’s owner or do you recognise him?

Please contact Charmhaven Pound on 02 4350 3184 if you can assist us or send us a PM.
