Pollinator Week 🌼
10th - 17th November 2024

💙 Blue Banded Bees use the "buzz" pollination technique. This is why BBB are super important for the flowers that hold their pollen in "capsules". The BBB will hold on & shiver their muscles, causing the pollen to shoot out of the capsule 😲

Satin Bowerbird 💜

While it may be a female or a young male, I refer to it as her 🫶🏽
She is our backyard visitor that comes multiple times a day to visit. I love watching her hop around & listening to her beautiful, strange, but beautiful call.

I'd had a bit of a blah day, so when I could hear this beautiful (in my opinion lol) call, I grabbed my camera, slipped on my thongs & followed the call 🎵 stopping each time i needed to wait for him to call again to reorientate myself.
I found the bush he was in, which was in one of my neighbours' yards. So naturally, like an intense birder, I stood there, on the side of the road for 40 minutes, waiting for him to show himself ⌚️
It paid off 🙌🏽 I saw him! He then flew off into a close Eucalyptus tree 🌳 & I got a few nice shots, not great, but a few regardless & I was stoked.

A couple of days later, dropping my son off at school, I heard the call again but closer, Caleb & I went after the call & found this super handsome boy in the schools vegetable garden. Great way to start the day 😍
