LET’S CHAT - Crate Training…

At Big Paws Little Paws, we are firm advocates for the proper use of crate training, recognising it as a foundational tool for both the safety and behavioural development of your pooch. When implemented correctly, crate training can significantly enhance your dog’s emotional well-being and resilience, while also providing a secure solution in emergencies.

Many pet parents may not realise that crating is standard practice in veterinary clinics and grooming facilities during visits. It’s a safety protocol designed to ensure the well-being of your pet and those around them.

As a boutique doggie daycare and grooming facility, the strategic use of crates is vital to our daily operations. In our daycare, structured crate breaks are essential in helping dogs self-regulate, avoid overstimulation, and develop an ‘off switch,’ which is critical for balanced behaviour.
Similarly, for our grooming clients, crating before and after their grooming session offers dogs a calm, secure environment while awaiting pickup.
