GUIDE DOG DAY 2024

Today is International Guide Dog Day, in which we celebrate and recognise the very important role that these dogs play in supporting people, worldwide.

This year the message to remember is that, “Anywhere you can go, Guide dogs can too.” (Guide Dogs Australia website) Guide Dogs and their handlers can travel on any form of public transport, attend theatres, shopping centres and healthcare/medical suites, and eat in any cafe or restaurant.

Let’s be aware of the access rights of these dogs and their handlers 🥰

Our amazing Dr Tracey is about to embark on her month long Japan Trip 🇯🇵

Unfortunately, this means for our birds, reptiles and small mammals we will not have anyone in clinic during this time. We recommend contacting Brisbane Birds and Exotics or The Unusual Pet Vets if your little one needs veterinary attention.

Dr Tracey looks forward to seeing all her patients when she returns from her holiday ☀️

🎅 It's holiday time! 🎅

We are already looking forward to seeing all of your furry family members back in the clinic next year, but in the mean time, we are taking some time off to spend with our own furry family (and the not-so-hairy).

If your pet needs to see a vet while we are not open, please phone Animal Emergency Service at Underwood on 3423 1888.

This little snake was brought into the clinic by a wildlife carer in a bit of a knot 🐍

Dr Tracey assessed the snake and determined that this could have been a birth defect or complication from an old tail injury.

Unfortunately, due to the higher fracture, this little guy no longer had the ability to defecate and so he was humanely euthanised.

This fluffy little fellow was recently seen for castration by Dr Tracey. Desexing male guinea pigs allows for them to be housed with females without the risk of unwanted pregnancies (did you know, female guinea pigs can get pregnant as young as 4 weeks old?!) 😬

It also eliminates the risk of testicular tumors, though these are not common.

If you would like more information about desexing your guinea pig, please give us a call or book an appointment online.
