As our community continues to grow, so does our team! ✌️
To ensure we provide the highest level of care to our wonderful new families and their pets, we are expanding our staff. We are delighted to introduce the newest member of our team, Meka!

Meka joins us as one of our exceptional Veterinary Liaison Nurses.
Please join us in giving her a warm welcome!

Meet Meka:

Hi everyone! My name is Meka. Last year, I made the big move from Melbourne to Brisbane to further my career in the veterinary field and be closer to family and friends. Soon, I’ll be starting my studies for a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

I am passionate about fear-free practices, animal behaviour, wildlife conservation, and surgical procedures—especially orthopaedics. Having grown up along the mid-north coast and in northern WA, I love spending time outdoors, whether in nature or the ocean.

When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me in the kitchen baking, at the gym (I hold a Certificate IV in Fitness), in a dance studio, or spending time with my beloved pets—Astro, my Greyhound, and Jimmy, my cat.

I look forward to meeting you all and being part of the Ripley Vet Hospital family!

You may have noticed that we closed early yesterday—that’s because our team was busy with our quarterly focus meeting! These sessions are essential for us, as they include training exercises, team-building activities, and discussions on important and relevant clinic topics. By continuously learning and improving, we ensure we can provide the best veterinary care for you and your furry loved ones.

Here are some fun snapshots of our team tackling a communication exercise—building a sturdy structure out of some rather unusual materials!

🙈 Naughty puppies get charCOAL for Christmas! 🙈

‼️ Trigger warning - VOMIT! ‼️

This holiday season, keep your furbabies safe by ensuring they steer clear of anything they shouldn’t be munching on! This cheeky pup found out the hard way after snacking on some grapes 🍇—a big no-no for dogs. 🙈

Here’s a quick reminder of common foods that are toxic to dogs:
- Grapes and raisins
- Chocolate
- Onions and garlic
- Ham
- Avocado
- Macadamia nuts
- Xylitol (found in sugar-free gum and candy)

If your furry friend happens to eat something on this list or you’re unsure if it’s harmful, don’t wait—contact our friends at Animal Emergency Services right away! 📞 Please see our other post for Ripley Veterinary Hospital’s hours for the holiday season 🎅🏼🎄
