Hey beautiful people ~ For mental health reasons, I've had to cease all grooming as I'm in the process of closing down & selling the business ~ Thank you to every single one of my customers for helping me get through these last two & a half years, it's been fantastic.

After three years of bumpy roads and driveways our air conditioner decided it would be a good time to show a little wear in the way of a busted pipe. We would like to especially thank Matt Fitzgerald for coming so quickly to regas and make sure everything was set to go. If you need any aircon cleaning, maintenance or installs please give him a call 0431189679.

Very important!

Two dogs in two days lost to heatstroke and they were on morning walks!
Heatstroke! We’re not going to sugar coat this. You will not see the signs until it is too late!
This is an emergency and life-threatening condition. We have had several heatstroke calls in the past week alone and unfortunately for some, they didn’t make it. There is no guarantee that your beloved furry family member will pull through as they literally cook from the inside out and so owners aren’t aware they are suffering until it is already too late.
They don't cool down as easily as us and unlike us they can’t just take their coat off or sweat it out! Dogs regulate their body temperatures by panting and releasing heat through their paw pads and as a consequence, there aren’t a great deal of options for your pet if you’re walking them on hot cement and the days temperatures are already high. Despite the sun setting late and the afternoons extended light time, dogs shouldn’t be walking or exercising for several hours after the night has set in or after the sun is up in the morning. They should also not be on the back of the ute or left in cars without air-conditioning on.
Your dogs (and other pets) NEED to have fresh, cool water available – some might like to lay in a small pool if you have the means to facilitate this. Shade is a MUST and if it is within your means, bring them inside in the air conditioning.
Brachycephallic breeds are also more susceptible to heat stress. So those with Frenchies, Staffy's, Pug's and Bulldogs etc should be taking extra care during the sweaty season.
Clinically, what we see:
Excessive panting
- Body temps >40’C
- Inability to move (collapse)
- Seizures
- Prolonged coagulation times

PLEASE, we are begging you, make sure your pets are safe during this time of year.

What a cute breed it is!

What a cute breed it is!

BREED SPOTLIGHT: Welsh Corgi 🐾👑

A favourite of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Corgis are known for their quick intelligence and forceful will. They are active, hardy and want to be part of the family. In their own minds, they are big dogs in small bodies!

Corgis have weatherproof coats — double but short. The color ranges from a rich red or fawn to black or sable with white markings.

Corgis can be prone to excessive alarm barking and to digging or chewing if left alone too much or not exercised enough. They want to be part of the family and do not do well left in kennels. Most corgis are fine with other pets and children if they have been raised with them. Beware that they will sometimes chase and nip at the heels of small running children because of their herding instincts.

Exercise is a must, both for mental health and to keep the weight under control. Corgis are people oriented and thus love to work with them and enjoy training. Despite their appearance, these are athletic little dogs that excel in herding and agility competitions. They are quick to learn tricks and seem to have a sense of humor. They are excellent watchdogs, if anything prone to unnecessary alarm barking.

Welsh Corgis live on average from 11-13 years. 💓

We will always be missed by our best friends - the Queens best friends are no exception. RIP Queen Elizabeth II.
