My cat is my Valentine π»β€οΈ - if your pet is yours, we'd love to know about it - please share!!
Sweet little "Tofu" - now named "Rhett" has recently been officially adopted and settled into his wonderful home - and now best friends with another CQASI past adoptee Bruce (formerly "Hat" when in our care).
Their new mum says "In 2023 we adopted Bruce, a big old gentle soul who quickly became a part of our family.
Bruce loves to cuddle and would try and pair up with our other cat Pierre. Pierre only tolerates this sometimes and we felt bad for old Brucie, so decided to adopt another cat to be a companion for him.
Enter Rhett. We couldnβt have found a better match. Rhett has seamlessly blended into our family and we couldnβt be happier for both him and Bruce."
All of us at CQASI couldn't be happier too!! Congratulations to Rhett and Bruce and we are so happy that you have found your wonderful and loving furever home π»

Our gorgeous old boy Chocko, enjoying the lowkey life π»
So floofy!
Chocko sleeps with his carer all night in bed and is very much adored.
Iβve come a long way from my tough beginnings. I was found emaciated and was fed by 2 young girls who took care of me, now , Iβm Felix, the charming companion everyone loves to be around!
My days are filled with joy as I eagerly welcome friends and family into my space although I can still be a bit jumpy with certain things so a calm household would be best for me π±
The moment someone steps through the door, my heart races with excitementβI canβt resist the urge to greet them! I dart over with a playful roll on the floor, rubbing against their legs, hoping for some affection in return.
Itβs such a delight to connect with people. I thrive on their attention, basking in the warmth of their love. But I must admit, not everything is easy for me. I still feel a twinge of apprehension when smaller dogs or cats are nearby. Their energy is a bit overwhelming, and I can't help but be cautious around them.
Despite that, I know I have a loving heart and a world of potential. Each day is a new opportunity to learn and grow, and Iβm ready for every bit of it. With each interaction, I feel myself becoming more confident, and I canβt wait to embrace the adventures that lie ahead!

πΎπ Hi there, I'm Vera ππΎ
I'm such an affectionate and loving girl I've made quick friends with all I meet cats, dogs and people, a friend is a friend and a new opportunity for a snuggle!
My favourite place to be is as close to humans as I can be, purring on their laps or sleeping in their bed.
I have a love of food so much so that I'm always first to finish my bowl wet or dry and think I'm super stealthy as I try and climb towards the people's food. I may even venture into the bin chasing leftovers so will need one with a secure lid or is in a location I cant access... what can I say I'm a fan of food.
I am presently 10 months old (February 2025) and still have the curious, loving, adaptable nature of a kitten and the soft quiet meow of one too making now the perfect time to move in with a forever family.
PLEASE NOTE: ALL OUR CATS ARE STRICTLY INDOOR ONLY UNLESS ON A PROPERTY.
I'm an energetic, playful little busybody with personality plus. I'm super inquisitive...love getting in the litter box to watch mum scooping out the lumps.
Haha! Soooo interesting. Unlike most cats, I am fascinated by water but please don't leave me alone near water. I don't know how to 'Do the five to stay alive'. Recently, I tried to stand in a bucket of water!
When I'm not trying to walk on water, I will biff and stalk my toys or play with my siblings or mama. Untested with dogs or kids, but having fellow cat friends would be great!
I'm a good eater and very fond of wet food. I'm a good girl and use my litter tray. So if you're looking for a happy youngster to hang with and entertain you with her antics, please pop in and meet me.
Love, Holly Happy Cat
PLEASE NOTE: ALL OUR CATS ARE STRICTLY INDOOR ONLY UNLESS ON A PROPERTY.

A little message and update from Maple, previously 'Hope' who was adopted through us in December! π
"Hi, I'm Maple, although the CQASI family and friends will know me as Hope. As you've probably guessed I was adopted by my very own forever family and I've settled in very well. My new family comes with mum, dad and hooman siblings, cat and chooks as well as lots of visiting wildlife. I love going for walks, water play, zoomies and helping make the bed. I'd like to thank all of the CQASI supporters and especially my foster carers for loving on me until I was adopted, love Maple πΎ"

We Solemnly Swear We Are Up To All Good - Our Story
CQ Animal Society Inc (CQASI) started off as just two local gals in Rockhampton wanting to make a difference to the animals impounded at the Rockhampton Animal Management Centre. We became registered as an animal rescue group in 2019, but have been coordinating the safety of animals on death row, and in need, from the Central Queensland region since 2017.
CQAS is not a shelter but is a small foster care based rescue in Rockhampton. Every single one of our animals is placed into a loving, caring environment while they receive their vet work to become adoption ready. We are run by very dedicated and passionate volunteers that work around the clock, mostly having to work in very short time frame due to the urgency of the pound system, to get these animals into loving lasting homes.
Not only do we take animals into our care for our own rescue organisation, we also provide short term care for other like minded rescue organisations that save animals from the Rockhampton region. Our aim is to also bring awareness and education to the Central Queensland area on the benefits of adoption vs buying, desexing to prevent unwanted litters, vaccinations and microchipping.
All cats and dogs in our care are microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, flea and worm treated and given a full health check before they are put up for adoption. We always send them off with a bit of our love as well. The latter is free of charge.
We also help rehome livestock, fowl and other small animals if we have the room and funds, and occasionally will help with assisted rehoming if the animal is desexed.
We are nothing without our foster carers and volunteers. If you are wanting to assist us by becoming a foster carer or volunteer, please email us at [email protected]
CQAS is not subsided and rely on donations to keep our little rescue going, so all donations - big or small - are kindly welcomed.
