Amidst the whirlwind of yard work, mob rotations, and construction projects, we've found a moment of calm and excitement to welcome Young James (Myall Forest James Fischer-Harris - Buckling - P70.3%) to Dusty Rhodes.

James has already been with us for nearly a month, and in that time, he's proven to be a delightful addition. He has a gentle nature and a calming presence that we've all come to appreciate. We've enjoyed getting to know him, helping him settle in, and sharing his love for lucerne and hand-feeding.

Some of our other little ones were very curious upon James' arrival...of course.

We're incredibly grateful to Emma at Myall Forest Stud - Nigerian Dwarf & Pygmy Goats for entrusting us with James and for her continued support as he transitions into the Dusty Rhodes family.

We won't add to our Dusty Rhodes Miniatures family for one breeding season, we said 😒 ...just to be sure, we won't even look obsessively like a stalker at our trusted breeders socials, we said 😒 (as a goat lover this is reeeeealllly difficult)...at the end of kidding season and when we thought it was safe to come out from under the covers, we high-fived, we marveled at our will power🙄, we had resisted the temptation🙄 we all feel when our hearts are won over by a little adorable pygmy baby (or 5)!

And then...🥰😍🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐😍🥰

One would be forgiven to think the LaFamilia Pygmy Goats family had indulged in a fair amount of tv streaming during COVID lockdown with a particular theme threading through their babies this breeding season of binge-worthy TV series...and with that we welcome from LaFamilia with love and excitement:
LaFamilia Bonnie Bennett (The Vampire Diaries) P88.28% - from quads;
and twins:
LaFamilia Carol & LaFamilia Maggie P78.90% (The Walking Dead)...cannot tell them apart yet! Maggie is very shy but curious and Carol seems to be just as brave as her namesake (or is it the other way around?).

Carol, Maggie and Bonnie are all incredibly well adjusted and have slotted themselves into the family with ease just as with our previous LaFamilia babies. A credit to Mel & Linc! Your care for your pygmy's is evident!

We also welcome the delightful (and wonderfully vocal 😉)
Claybank Elvie P83.20% & Claybank Sylvie P74.21% to our Dusty Rhodes family.
Elvie is just the sweetest and will leave food to follow you everywhere and Sylvie gives the most amazing snuggles and kisses. Our Claybank Boer Goats babies from last year are so affectionate and it's no surprise these bebe's are too. It is easy to tell how loved Claybank kids are before they come to you.

Our beautiful boys are maturing delightfully! Otis Redding (wether), Axl Rose and Jimmy Hendrix (bucklings). 🥰🥰🥰.
Our other lovely wether Floyd refuses to leave the girls paddock 🙄 and we don't have the heart to move him and has been dubbed the princess of Dusty Rhodes Miniatures 👑. More pictures with the princess to come.

Just in time for the holiday season and rounding out our final little additions at Dusty Rhodes Miniatures for 2023 is the delightful young LaFamilia Axl Rose P83.59%.
Axl settled in right away with his other LaFamilia paddock mates Jimmy and Otis and likes to let us know very loudly every morning that he made it through the night. 😄
He definitely got the attention of all the girls upon arrival! Not yet girls, not yet! 🛑

Back in early September '23 we found and fell in love with baby Lilah and stumbled upon the irresistible baby Floyd.

Lilah and Floyd were absolute champions enduring a very long journey from Victoria to near the Northern Rivers of NSW and settled right into their new home with ease.
Floyd loves his cuddles and Lilah is brave and trusting and has made fast friends with LaFamilia Karen Carpenter.

A special thanks for all those photo's of Lilah's rear end over the past couple of months, She's the first one I recognise when all the heads are down in the feed trough and bums are up. 🤣🤣

14 days ago we picked up the beautiful Ebony and Ivory from The Woolshed Mini’s
Although we had welcomed them in our hearts months ago they were finally right before our eyes!!

Poor Ebony and Ivory have had a tumultuous introduction to our family as the following day we were evacuated due to bushfires for the following 12 days.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to all of the residents of Rocky River, RFS and the state fire brigade for doing everything to save our home. While 90% of our property is burnt out some in our community have lost a lot more and are still fighting. We still have our dwelling area and 2 paddocks.
An overwhelming thank you to Nadine Albutt of Karinga Motel Lismore (https://karingamotel.com/) who not only took us in, but our 3 dogs, 2 cats and 6 adorable Pygmy goats. Nadine also had a makeshift pen built with fencing, feeders, a playground, artificial grass, bedding and shade cloth.
Thank you also to LaFamilia Pygmy Goats, Claybank Pygmy & Miniature Goats, Nicholson River Soaps and The Woolshed Mini’s for consistently checking in on us and our welfare.

PS. If you are a camper, be responsible and know that surrounding you are isolated properties with limited access to emergency services. Put your fire out properly and make sure your coals are cold to the touch before you leave behind a trail of devastation...also, if there is a state wide fire ban, how about you just don't light a fire at all.
