This is a message to our clients and members of the local community, on behalf of the entire
team at Romsey Veterinary Surgery. We wish to respond to a recent post on Facebook
pertaining to a very upsetting case that sadly we were unable to attend.
We have spoken to the dog’s owner and given our sincerest condolences and support at this
time. The loss of a loved pet can be one of life’s hardest and most upsetting challenges and this
is something that our nurses and vets deal with every day. We would like to acknowledge the
efforts that were made by members on the post to provide help to the client.
It is deeply unfortunate that we could not see the patient in question, and currently our entire
team is devastated by the outcome. We genuinely care about our clients and patients, and have
always gone above and beyond to carry out our work with utmost compassion and care.
Alongside our neighbouring clinics and emergency facilities, we work tirelessly and
collaboratively to serve our community, and we too often handle emergencies from other areas.
We do not always have capacity to attend to every animal in the most time effective manner,
and in these instances we offer alternatives. In this instance, we would like to thank Hamilton
Street clinic in Gisborne for seeing the dog when we were unable to.
We would also like to reassure our clients that we are still the same team of vets and nurses that
we have always been. The clinic ownership has changed, but our prioritisation in providing the
highest level of care and service is still the same as it always was. We understand that
economic circumstances are hard for a lot of people, and our costs have risen in recent years.
Every effort is made to keep fee increases as low as possible, yet without economizing on the
level of care and service we provide.
Our priority as a team is to provide the highest level of veterinary service to our clients and their
animals. Understandably at times outcomes don’t go the way we want them to, which provides
opportunity for review and feedback. We would like to thank our clients who support us and
help to make our role in the community rewarding and fulfilling. If ever there is a need to get in
