Professional development is important for everyone. I just had the most amazing Easter weekend at a horsemanship/equitation and cattle working clinic (with Sue Frank and Linda Hingst). I took Xander and am so happy with how he behaved and improved over the 4 days. He really is a special horse ❤️.
Thankyou for the beautiful photos Adam Kemp from Snapped shots

What to do on a rainy day??? Lennie and Mack decided they would watch TV with darryl 😂. I think if the door was open they would have both walked inside and made themselves comfy on the couch.

What a generous and amazing Christmas present from one of my agistees, Zoe. How clever is Zoe, she makes these beautiful jump and cavaletti sets.

🌈 This set will brighten up the indoor arena at Savvy Stables for those rainy day riding lessons!

I found a few photos while recently cleaning at my family home. I think in the photos my age ranges from 2-4yo.
Learning to ride a horse might be done a bit differently nowadays. Back when I was younger it was no shoes, no helmets, doubling on a pony with my brother…. Even when my mum dressed me up in a lovely frock, I must have convinced my brother to let me ride his horse (it was at pony club - so I did put a helmet on).

Our holiday is nearing its end - we have had some amazing family horse rides.

Proof that Harvey does not consider himself a poodle but is truely a working cattle dog that is brave enough to muster bulls 😂.

My family and 8 of our horses have arrived in Guyra, NSW. Should be a fantastic 2 weeks.

Some trail riding fun

Lucky taking most of this mornings training in his stride 😊

This week we are trail riding as part of our lesson. It is also a great opportunity to ‘pony’ or ‘lead’ Lucky. This gets him out and about, accustomed to bigger areas (cows, kangaroos and other scary things). Well done Kenzie and cunxin successfully leading Lucky.

Ride 2 - great work ruby and Lucky

After 3 weeks of groundwork, long lining and leading from another horse the girls are riding Lucky. Well done lucky and Macy

Lucky to pony is our project for Term 4. My older riders will be learning (and participating) in the process of educating a young horse. This week is lots of ground work and getting Lucky responsive, respectful (of space) and used to all that goes on during our riding lessons.

Professional development day for my husband and I (along with Autumn and Georgina) yesterday. We attended a hoof trimming day hosted by Animal Biomechanical Solutions. Learning how to trim hooves for the orthopaedic balance and overall well being of our horse. I have been around horses my whole life, but still get blown away by how much there is to learn. I also get excited and want to know more to help the overall health of and relationship with my horses.

I’m so proud of Erin Morris, she recently competed at an event hosted by the rosewood pony club and came first in her dressage and jumping.
Erin was one of my original riding students. At savvy stables, I don’t focus on teaching a specific riding discipline, but introduce all styles of riding (dressage, jumping, sporting, cattle, horsemanship). My aim has to set my students up to correctly ride all types of horses and understand the importance of building a working relationship with your horse. This makes them ready to go out and compete in their chosen discipline. Well done Erin.

Congratulations to Alby and Roulette, representing NSW, competing at the junior polocross at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. They not only won, but also came home with best No.3.
Roulette is possibly one of the 3 remaining mares from my dads line of Australian Stock Horses. Her half sisters are Georgina and Yantala. Such a great breed, athletic, versatile and quiet.

This week we officially welcomed Monty to our family. Monty has big shoes to fill, but based on this week he is going to give it his best shot 💕. Monty is a quarter horse x Australian riding pony. He is super cute and has a friendly and cheeky nature.
Sarah has always wanted a pony (since she rode her cousins little Welsh pony over 5 years ago) and now she finally has her own little project pony. I may have left it a bit late as she has grown in the past few years 😂.

Another fun activity - moving water in a cup. With balance, rhythm and control Ruby can easily trot without spilling a drop of water.

While I hope most weeks are ‘fun’ lessons, this week we are playing games and fun challenges on the horses. Marissa and Chloe make the toilet paper challenge look easy. They have to hold a length of toilet paper (2m) between them and ride approximately 30m without the toilet papaler breaking. They did it in a very coordinated canter.

We are happy to welcome Mia to our team at Savvy Stables. Mia has experience in jumping, dressage and eventing. Along with this, she shares a love of horses and with her bright personality I am excited to have her join me to assist with riding lessons.

Mia has been riding horses before she could walk and as you can see from the photos horses have a special place in Mia’s life and heart. Mia has competed in jumping, dressage and eventing up to an international level. Mia has three beautiful ponies. Olli, who is a 16.3hh OTTB (liver chestnut) Sammy (grey) her ‘heart’pony, who is now retired, and Boots (bay with blaze) who is a 14.2 cob mix pony who she has had since the age of 4.

Mia is ‘very excited to connect and meet you all’.
