The weather has decided to heat up just as I have returned to work and caught up. I am pleased to announce that I am now able to reopen my books to NEW clients - I have a few spots open for two and four weekly appointments.

Have I mentioned I love being back? I was given the opportunity to have Bella in my trailer for her first ever groom - She was an absolute dream! I have very high hopes she will adjust to grooming well since her parents booked her in at a great young age. Isn't she adorable 🥹

Let's bust some myths🛁

Lots of people think that there's no harm in using their own shampoos on their dogs. While certain shampoos will work well on human hair, dog hair has different needs. It's important to use shampoo that addresses their coat needs and skin conditions. Your Groomer knows best! Don't forget to have that conversation with them during their next visit.

-Update! -

‼️I AM BACK‼️

It has been a LONG four weeks - But I have FINALLY gotten clearance to return to work (I do have to wear some pretty fabulous goggles though 🥽). I will be starting off slowly as to not risk over doing it and I will also have a driver with me - huge thanks to my Dad for this!

I am spending the afternoon going through bookings and will be in touch confirming your next appointments. Please reach out later on tonight if you haven't heard from me or are unsure when your next booking is.

Thank you for all your patience during this horrible time, I am so lucky to have such understanding and caring customers. I've recieved numerous messages checking in on me and wishing me well and I truely appreciate everyone of you!

Just another update--

The ophthalmology team tells me I'm at the stage of it being a bit like watching grass grow while my eye heals up. Which is an ironic thing to say to someone who can't actually SEE the grass grow 🤔

Things I can do is let you all know that I will be off until at LEAST my next appointment on Thursday. If you are unable to wait a few weeks for me to fit everyone back in - please reach out to other groomers. We have some fabulous groomers around us and they are all being amazing at helping me out. Please don't feel like you are being disloyal to me - I completely understand and in all honesty am at a bit of a loss as to how I will get everyone back in and or when I will actually be back.

If you do not want to go elsewhere that is fine too - just remember slicker brush and combs are what will get you through this!

The moment I return I'll be sure to post it here. I cannot wait to be back pampering your best friends. 🐩

Eye update!

Hi all,
I still have no return date set - my eye IS improving, but it's SLOW and still not at a level where I could drive or handle scissors with moving dogs ✂️.
I'm doing everything in my power to get this sorted, but ophthalmology team at the JHH have said it will take some time.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their support over this awful time - anyone whose been a customer for a while knows I am not one to take sick days. I genuinely miss all my doggie clients and can't wait to be back behind the tools 💕
Also a huge thank you to all the groomers around who have stepped up and taken on some of my clients while I've been away - it's so wonderful having a community of groomers around to help eachother out. Forever thankful!

Just a friendly reminder of the policies I have here at Dash DogWash Rutherford! If you would all just take a moment to have a refresher of them it would be greatly appreciated!

❌CANCELLATION Policy ❌-
Any appointment cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment time will be charged a 50% cancellation fee via square invoice. Once this invoice is paid I will be able to rebook you. Clients with outstanding invoices will no longer be rescheduled.

When making an appointment with me I schedule 1+ hours out of my diary to provide you a service and am turning other potential clients away. Please place your appointments in your Calender just as you would for any other appointment you make.

💵PAYMENT💵-
Payment must be made via cash or card at the time of the appointment unless already organised by myself. If you require an invoice please let me know and I will invoice you PRIOR to your appointment to ensure payment is made. I do not enjoy chasing people for payments so this is no longer an option.

All of you are pretty amazing and I am blessed with some of the best clients in the Hunter - but just a quick note that abuse of any sort will not be tolerated. I respect you all and ask for the same. If you do not like my policies that is fine, there are many other fabulous service providers out there for you.

🐩 Oodle care! 🐩

It's that time of year again where I need to make a post on best grooming practice for your best friends growing coat!

So often I hear of oodle owners wanting to push grooms back because they want their oodles to have longer hair over winter. This is the OPPOSITE of what we should be doing! Long hair requires more frequent grooms to ensure that knots and matting do not occur.

Winter length (often combined with jackets) is the leading reason to why so many dogs are shaved off come spring time. Often the groomers get the blame - but how can we possibly take responsibility if we are not there frequently to care for your dogs coat? Longer coats require daily brushing AND combing. If a metal comb can not get through your dog's coat it means our clipper combs will not be able to get through, either. If our clippers can't get through we will have to go down to a blade and this results in a shorter, less desirable, haircut.

If your oodle is not on a four weekly groom schedule at minimum it is very hard to maintain a longer coat and will require much more at home care in between. Please ask me for equipment recommendations and best brushing techniques - I am more then happy to assist to make sure that your best friend has the look you are going for year round.
