Ever wondered why your pup doesn't seem food motivated? It’s not because they’re fussy little divas! Here are a few reasons why your dog might turn their nose up at rewards:⁠
⁠
1️⃣ Value Not High Enough: Sometimes, the reward just isn't worth it! If your dog isn’t responding to the usual snacks, try something more awesome. Using their usual food might cut it.⁠
⁠
2️⃣ Environment is Too Hard: If the training environment is too challenging, your pup might feel like they’re trying to solve a Rubik's Cube blindfolded. Try moving to a quieter, less distracting space and see how you go.⁠
⁠
3️⃣ Distractions: The world is full of exciting (and distracting) things! Smells, cars, other dogs, that mysterious patch of grass... Make sure you're training where your dog can focus on you and those snacks.⁠

4️⃣ 'Poisoned' Food: If your dog has had a bad experience that started with being offered food, they might associate it with something negative. Don't be sneaky and trick your dog into .⁠

When I said I designed for all you Good Dogs, I meant it.

▪️ Boring science bit, but let me geek out for a minute.

▪️ Did you know that noise of your plastic collar clips can reach around 80-90dB?

▪️ Studies have shown that sudden sounds in this range can cause a startle reflex (Ladd et al, 2000). Bingo!

I believe the only startle your wardrobe should cause is the envy of all the other Dogs on the block.

Selecting a trainer is hard. Scrolling websites and trying to decipher the jargon and training terms, (often deliberate misleading so we believe that the training methods are kind.)⁠
⁠
🙄You shouldn’t need to have a degree in Behaviour to decipher a website and hire a trainer, if you did you have that degree in behaviour, you probably wouldn’t need me anyway!⁠
⁠

WTF is WAGD?

This guy AKA Big J was the real Founder! It's 4 months since I lost my him and my mission remains the same.

Big J, was my handsome AF former sidekick and bestie. No one wanted a wild teenage rescue dog, so he became the muse for my Dog Training business - Super Woofers.

Watching my Dog Training clients switch their dogs from their comfortable training kit to their 'nice' kit for a coffee shop visit, I had a revelation. Why wasn't there fashionable and functional Dog kit for our furry faced homies?

I've always believed in promoting kindness in training. "Bad behaviour" is often just misunderstood natural dog behaviour.

But I didn't want to be just another "Hey, Babes, we love dogs, buy our cute dog gear" brand.

WAGD was born with a simple mission on behalf of all the Good Dogs out there:

1. Create Fashionable + Functional Kit - Designed FOR Dogs: Our kit is not just fashion for the sake of it. It's designed by a dog trainer, with dogs in mind. We want dogs to be comfortable, safe, and look fire while on their adventures.

2. Rebranding the Good Dog - We Are Taking It Back: Every dog, like Big J, has their unique story, and they're all Good Dogs in their own way. WAGD is here to remind the world that All Dogs are Good Dogs.

3. Share Knowledge on Kind Training Methods - Ethics Over Ego: It's not about being the alpha; it's about being kind. We're here to spread the woof about gentle, ethical training methods, to normalise a culture of trust, choice and Good Dog vibes only.

Our products are designed for training, and will turn heads at the dog park. But WAGD goes beyond just products. Our WAGD Academy is designed to support the human end of the lead. This academy will provide valuable training tips and resources to help you and your dog level up your training game.

WAGD is more than just a brand; it's a Good Dog Revolution. Join me in celebrating the sniffer, the drooler and the amateur landscaper. Respecting all their quirks, and 100% Dog-ness.
