Much improved weekend. A nice consistent test for 5th place. Clear SJ moved us to 3rd.
Apparently the XC warm up jumps were scary then a kangaroo hopped through the warm up. Pattie Does. Not. Do. Kangaroos. I was lucky to get plaits in her when she spotted them in the car park on Saturday. The snorting was very loud and very funny!
So she was super spooky early in the course waiting for a sabre tooth skippy to jump out but she settled and jumped her best round in a long time.

Spring HT.
Back to Werribee to run around a similar course. I find this a very valuable experience for comparison purposes.
Dressage- not our best test. We're in a learning phase so in the "1 step back" bit.
SJ- 1 uncharacteristic rail but it was sticky hot for September anf she'll often have rails in that weather.
XC- bit spookier than last time but travelled and jumped better. Clear time.

What are the other Shadyoak ponies doing?
Ash- is on a Winter holiday whilst we calve cows. He'll come back in soon.
Floyd- is growing. Guess he's about 14.3 and still only 20months old. I must take some new photos.
Black- getting fatter. Still 8 weeks off foaling.
Lewis- is off to boarding school shortly to learn how the world works before his hormones kick in. Pictured learning some life lessons!
Broodmares will be fired up in another couple of months as we dont like Aug/Sept foals (clashes with calving cows!)

August.
Plenty more training and then on to Friends of Werribee HT in Ev80
Ok Dressage but it seems Werribee is not her preferred venue. Clear SJ. Left us in about 10th overnight so I went out bold XC as we got time faults a couple of times last season. Clear and under time pulled us up to 4th place. Here's a snippet of Pattie refusing to pick up canter in the water 🤦‍♀️🤣
Somewhere in a box is the rug I won at FoW HT 25 years ago in the PC grade 2 🤣

Argh!
Another 3 months passed between updates. Life gets busy!
Over Winter Pattie has been busy doing lots of things...dressage lessons, jumping, fitness, poles and we even tried our hand at 3PE at July at Rosedale. 2nd in Level 1. Won the dressage. The bridge was super scary so we were 2nd in Style and in the Speed we conquered the bridge after a good look at it in the way into the arena but I did too many laps of the stock pen so second again. But we nailed the stabby stick 😆

Mi3DE Pony Challenge.
A dressage test judged normally then the % was halved and converted to a score out of 50. Then a SJ/XC hybrid under lights indoors at night in cross country attire judged young horse style out of 70.
Pattie did a nice enough test but was distracted by the puddles for 67% and 11th.
Jumping. Oh what a star she is, she gave me an awesome ride. Even though I was sitting 11th I hung around (in the dark and cold wind) in case we got a ribbon coz I thought it would score well...it did! 3rd place in the jumping section 💪
Moved up to take 4th place from 25 starters. My aim was to get a ribbon. Pattie is so super consistent for me its nice to know she can match it with some of the best ponies going around.
All in all it was a great competition and representative of the depth and quality of ponies competing EA eventing. Here's hoping we're invited back next year to showcase our little athletes.

Ash Update.
May has been a busy month getting him going again after having all of April off coz life got busy.
We had a lesson at Longford with Toni Webb (highly recommend her)
And today he did his first public outing at ARC, taking it all in his stride.

Bit of quiet one this month.
Pattie had another outing at Level 1, Rosedale DHRC Dressage. Rider was not on her game in the first test (got lost twice) but we got our act together for 6th in 1.4.
Finished the month off wit a hit out at our club Training day.
We're off to Mi3DE this week for the Pony Challenge (Dressage Friday & combined SJ/XC Indoors Friday night).

April Catch Up 😆
Won Wron HRCAV Dressage. Our first level 1.
We held up the field in both tests. The counter canters which we've been working so hard on was awesome. The laterals were crap and simple changes were ace...in the warm up. Lots to work on but we scored 65% zone. To be fair I haven't ridden that work in the ring for about 8 years.

EGZHT at Orbost.
75% Dressage, clear SJ, clear XC with a few time faults in the tight bush course.

Awww man 🤦‍♀️ I'm wayyy behind on updates...again. I'll do March first 😆
Lots of cancelled scratched comps in Feb/March. Crook kids and that HOT weekend!
Eagle Point HRCAV Dressage Level 2.
Two wins with her two best tests ever.
Sale ARC HRCAV Dressage Level 2.
2nd & 3rd (would have won this test but the pilot got lost twice 🤦‍♀️). But we were overall weekend Champion and Best Performed Sale ARC member.
On to Wandin Horse Trials.
The weekend befores dressage rooster turned to a feather duster. Crap test 14th place. Clear SJ and an awesome XC with a few time. But it was nice to be back playing EA again.

Shadyoak Sterling (Lewis) was assessed by ACE on their annual tour.
Scoring "ELITE" and being declared a Stallion Prospect.

Bennison ARC Dressage & SJ Weekend.
Our next stop. Level 2 Dressage. 🥇 in 2.1 and then hot tired pony in deepish sand who lost her bounce, 5th place. 3rd Jackpot.
Sunday Level 2 jumping. 🥈 in 2 rounder with 1 down in jump off coz she thought the bushes were scary 🤦‍♀️. Video below. 1 down in AM7 for 3rd and 3rd in Highpoint.
She was the only horse to compete over level 3 on both days. Versatile critter she is.

Event update- Rosedale & Sale PC HT.
The week after the ARC HT we ventured back for Grade 3 PC HT. Much improved in all phases for another 🥇
Here's our XC. Still a bit 'lookier' than I'd like, hence some determined riding, but thats Pattie.
