Shirley Heights HT.
Ev80
Much improved weekend. A nice consistent test for 5th place. Clear SJ moved us to 3rd.
Apparently the XC warm up jumps were scary then a kangaroo hopped through the warm up. Pattie Does. Not. Do. Kangaroos. I was lucky to get plaits in her when she spotted them in the car park on Saturday. The snorting was very loud and very funny!
So she was super spooky early in the course waiting for a sabre tooth skippy to jump out but she settled and jumped her best round in a long time.

Video of jumps 12-15. The trotting was to look at the drummer boy statues either side π€¦ββοΈ
August.
Plenty more training and then on to Friends of Werribee HT in Ev80
Ok Dressage but it seems Werribee is not her preferred venue. Clear SJ. Left us in about 10th overnight so I went out bold XC as we got time faults a couple of times last season. Clear and under time pulled us up to 4th place. Here's a snippet of Pattie refusing to pick up canter in the water π€¦ββοΈπ€£
Somewhere in a box is the rug I won at FoW HT 25 years ago in the PC grade 2 π€£

Bennison ARC Dressage & SJ Weekend.
Our next stop. Level 2 Dressage. π₯ in 2.1 and then hot tired pony in deepish sand who lost her bounce, 5th place. 3rd Jackpot.
Sunday Level 2 jumping. π₯ in 2 rounder with 1 down in jump off coz she thought the bushes were scary π€¦ββοΈ. Video below. 1 down in AM7 for 3rd and 3rd in Highpoint.
She was the only horse to compete over level 3 on both days. Versatile critter she is.
First Horse Trials in 18 months last weekend...Ev80 at Spring HT.
Typical Pattie test and clear SJ had us 6th overall and 1st in pony section.
XC was wet but she went super until the water when a big jump in, tears from the wind, long reins and the jumping over the wet stones meant we ran past the B element. Bugger.
Was great to back back at it!
Found the perfect fitness hill in the nearby pine forest. This ones about 1.5km long and gradient of 4%.
Today we had to contend with Emu's hiding in the unlogged part at the start!
She travelled up well given she was reluctant to follow the emus! The tap was to ensure she remembered to stay out in front of the leg going past. Brains can turn off on tired horses.
So what do you do when your pony is repeatedly very very naughty?
Lock it off grass and wet saddle blanket rides 4 days running.
End result...perfect pony
Gee its a long road back after significant time off
Went to a Three Phase Equitation lesson today. Interesting to put all the Dressage, trail riding, games & handy mount skills gathered over the years into one discipline. Pattie enjoyed it.
After a last minute message from a friend Friday arvo today Pattie & I went 'Team Penning'
If you've never heard of it.. 3 people have to cut out 3 beasts of the same colour and pen them...sounds easy...it isnt!
She had a fair few small 'moments' when kicked in the guts to chase down recalcitrant xbreds π€£ but proved that a well trained responsive horse can turn a hoof to anything!
Interestingly her grandsire was dual registered NFP and Australian Stock Horse!!!
Here's our first run where our job was to get the correct animal out of the mob...the cows were not co-operating!
