👀 Eyes 👀
….Red eyes, closed eyes, weepy eyes, cloudy eyes, puffy eyes…..
From trauma from something in the garden, to rouge eyelashes, to congenital or breed-specific life long issues lots can go wrong with our pet’s eyes. And disease may often present in similar ways - a red, weepy or sore eye. These symptoms shouldn’t be ignored.
In a consult, we can test the pressure of the eyeball to rule out glaucoma (first photo), we can stain the cornea to check for ulcers/scratches (second photo) and check for eyelid disease that can be improved with surgery (third photo - our lower eyelid has rolled inward resulting in the eyelashes rubbing on the surface of the eye). And these are just a few quick eye checks!
Eye disease shouldn’t be ignored - they only have 👀

If you have any eye concerns…..don’t keep an eye on it!

With a few of these signs popping up at local dog parks, it reiterates the importance of vaccination. Parvovirus is a severe and life threatening virus but there is a very effective vaccine. Parvovirus is completely preventable.
Take time to check your dog’s parvovirus vaccination is up to date - either C3 or C5 vaccination. If you are unsure, get a booster!
If you have a puppy, best to avoid dog parks and beaches until after your third puppy vaccination.
We shouldn’t lose dogs to Parvo 😞

Exciting News !

We’re thrilled to announce some wonderful additions to our team! Please join us in welcoming:

🐾 Dr. Andi and Dr. Jen – Two experienced veterinarians with 30+ years of expertise each. They are both delightful and their dedication to compassionate care is unmatched.

🐾 Tori and Ashleigh – Our new veterinary technician and veterinary nurse who bring enthusiasm, skill, and a love for animals to our practice.

As they settle into our clinic and get familiar with the flow (and the quirks of our computer system!), we kindly ask for your patience and continued kindness.

Help us give them a warm welcome—they’re looking forward to meeting all of you.

(And don’t worry…..Dr Dan and Dr Erin aren’t going anywhere! You can still request to see them when you need. But with more vets in the hospital we can ensure emergency consults are treated faster, high quality inpatient care is maintained , more surgical spots available, and we can provide routine patient care with shorter wait times 😁😁)

We can’t wait for you to meet our new additions 🤩

Thanks to the Samford Potters Collective - Brisbane our team was able to come together, be festive and get messy last weekend. In their gorgeous space we let our (mostly unused!) creative sides come out, creating some pretty awesome pottery gnomes! Stay tuned to the finished product 😍 I think they’ll need to be displayed in reception for a bit 🤣🤣😍 photos by Belinda Dorman Photo and Film

Too cute not to share! Ghost getting some cuddles during his final puppy vaccination appointment with Dr Dan. Being a Siberian Husky that is likely to mature about 25kgs, we won’t be able to pick him up and cuddle him for long!

Dog vaccinations are more important now than ever before. Queensland is currently experiencing an outbreak of Parvovirus in South East Queensland and more recently North Queensland. This highly contagious and life threatening disease is preventable with vaccination. If you are unsure if your dog is up to date with their C3 (parvovirus, distemper and hepatitis) vaccination please ASK!
Call us ☎️ 3521 3422 or book an appointment online to get their vaccination up to date ✅
