At Willow Park, our foals are given basic handling from about a week old, learning about head pressure, leading, picking up their hooves and of course plenty of scratches! πŸ₯°

This process helps the foals have a stress-free experience whenever they are handled by farriers, vets or our staff. They also have a head start come weaning time, already having their basic life skills down pat.

Team Sedgwick Equine Vet Services came out to x-ray our Magic Millions yearlings this week, with Ned Sedgwick on the tools. 🩻

Every thoroughbred yearling presented at auction in Australia has a full set of 36 x-ray shots taken a few weeks before the sale, which are then lodged in a repository for registered vets to view on buyers' behalf.

The process provides potential buyers with greater transparency when evaluating yearlings on their short lists at the sales.

Enjoy some throwback footage of Babylon Berlin, who added further black type to her name with a second πŸ₯ˆ in today's Gr3 Counties Bowl.

Having her final race start before the Gr1 Sistema Railway on New Year's Day, with the top weight of 59kg, the tough mare was run down in the concluding stages to finish just 0.8L second, giving the winner 6kg. πŸ‘€

Babylon Berlin (All Too Hard x You Can't Say That) has an envious record of 26 starts for eight wins and 13 placings and we're all hoping she can add a Group 1 to her tally in the New Year! 🀞🏻

The stakes winners keep on coming for WP-sold broodmares! πŸ’₯ Parmalove produced a very smart two-year-old filly in Velocious (Written Tycoon), who showed an explosive turn of foot to win today's Listed Counties Challenge Stakes, cementing favourtism for January's Karaka Million.

Parmalove (Snitzel) was sold to Inglewood Stud at the 2018 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale for $230,000 and has already produced stakes placed Penvose Lad (NZ) and dual winner Mozzarella (Capitalist), who was also fourth at Listed level.

Congratulations to Inglewood Stud, who are enjoying a fantastic start to Parmalove's breeding career, with these being her first three foals! πŸ‘πŸΌ

The team at Willow Park were saddened by the recent passing of Fergus Doyle, a wonderful character who was a great contributor to the thoroughbred industry in Australia.

From a small band of broodmares, Fergus bred many great horses, including stakes winners Long Jack, Tawteen, Triple Elegance, Vupline (pictured) and Well Sprung. Perhaps a sentimental favourite was also his stakes-placed homebred mare, Connemara.

Fergus was also a keen racehorse owner, with interests in the likes of Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist and top c**ts Capitalist, King's Legacy, Pariah, etc.

Fergus' legacy as a breeder is sure to be felt for many more years, with a number of young horses coming through, including his very last foal, a beautiful Stay Inside filly from Exclusive Lass.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends and the team at James Harron Bloodstock.

Rest in Peace Fergus. ☘️

What an incredible two days of selling at the Karaka Ready to Run Sale! πŸŽ‡

A highlight was watching lot 381, the Deep Field x Criquette c**t from Ohukia Lodge, sell for $750,000 - the third top priced lot of the sale. The c**t is the third foal from Criquette (I Am Invincible), who was sold off the track through our 2018 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale draft for $220,000 to Scone Bloodstock Services. πŸ‘πŸΌ

Another great result was lot 333, a Capitalist c**t out of Arrowette (Not A Single Doubt), that made $450,000. Arrowette was sold by WP at Magic Millions in 2015 for $180,000 and she has since had five to race for four winners.

Finally, lot 19 was the All Too Hard c**t from Elusive Valley (Equiano), sold for $280,000. Elusive Valley was sold at the 2021 Inglis Broodmare Sale carrying this c**t, her first foal, for just $42,500. ✨

Fantastic to see WP-sold mares producing such great results in the sale ring, we look forward to watching these c**ts on the track!

Black type for Uncorked in North America! πŸ—½

Fantastic to see Uncorked (Pierro x Piaf (NZ)) get some black type on her page this morning, with a fast-finishing third in the Listed Forever Together Stakes at Aqueduct in New York. ⭐️

Trained by BTR Racing Stable / Brittany T Russell, Uncorked has now had seven starts in the States for two wins and four placings, adding to a win and two placings in Australia.

The beautifully-bred four-year-old was sold at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale for $130,000 to G*i Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing and Kestrel Thoroughbreds.

The seventh Willow Park sold broodmare to produce a stakes winner this season is the beautiful Godiva Rock, dam of Flag of Honour - Gr2 Kennedy Road Stakes winner at Woodbine πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ this morning.

A Moonee Valley winner who ran third in the Gr1 Blue Diamond at her second start, Godiva Rock (Stratum) was offered off the track at the 2015 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale, where she was knocked down for $150,000 to the bid of Baramul Stud.

After a tumultuous start to her breeding career, Flag of Honour (American Pharoah) is her second foal and the first to be offered as a yearling, selling for $425,000 at the Gold Coast.

Flag of Honour won three of his six starts in Australia for Kris Lees Racing, with two fourth placings in stakes races taking his earnings here to $250,000. The Gr2 Kennedy Road Stakes win comes at just his second start in Canada, where is he still raced by his Australian owners Ron and Judy Wanless.

Congrats to all involved, Godiva Rock had many admirers on our team and we're thrilled to see her produce a fast one! πŸ’«

A super ride from James Orman today gave Kapakiri his second consecutive metro win for Chris Waller Racing, taking his earnings over the $100,000 mark. πŸ€‘ Kapakiri (Kermadec) is out of Listed winner Oriental Lady (GER), who produced a full brother this week.

Lightly raced five-year-old Henestrosa (Written Tycoon x La Llorona) added a fourth win to his name today, at start 21 for Clarke Racing Stables. A beast of a foal, he spent some time at WP as a foal with his gorgeous dam. 🩢

On the broodmare front, Gr1 winner In Style (NZ) produced her second stakes horse when Brazen Style (Brazen Beau) scored in the Gr3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes at Caulfield. πŸ’« Already the dam of Gr3 placed Total Babe (I Am Invincible), In Style was sold off the track for $440,000 to attunga stud at the 2016 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale.

Finally, it was great to see Tulsi (The Autumn Sun) record another placing at the top level at start eight, finishing third in the Gr1 NZ 1000 Guineas. The filly was purchased by Glenn on behalf of Gary Harding at the Inglis Classic Sale, for $550,000 from Valiant Stud. πŸ‘πŸΌ

Big day for WP graduates! πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

πŸ”ΉBabylon Berlin (All Too Hard x You Can't Say That (NZ)) has some unfinished business to attend to this summer in New Zealand's Gr1 sprints and kicked off her prep in style, with a Listed win at Te Rapa Racing. Foaled and raised at WP, she now has eight wins to her name, five at stakes level.

πŸ”ΉFinepoint (Pins x Zarzuela (NZ)) found the line well after an unlucky run, to finish third in the Gr2 Hot Danish Stakes at Rosehill first-up. With four wins and three stakes placings under her belt before today's run, the Chris Waller Racing trained mare looks set for another lucrative campaign.

πŸ”ΉFeel The Magic πŸͺ„ (Rubick x Dream Genie (NZ)) was too good for his rivals, making it back-to-back wins today from just three starts for Stephen O'Halloran. The three-year-old was sold to Pinhook Bloodstock International and Pulse Racing Thoroughbreds for $40,000 at Magic Millions Adelaide last year.

19-year-old Largo Lad looking super in retirement at Lindsay Park Racing! 😍

Foaled at WP and sold at Inglis Easter 2006 for $75,000, the gentle giant by Encosta de Lago was a Group 2 winner of six races and $618,000, before retiring to a life of luxury.

There are many careers a racehorse can embark on post-racing. Some involve re-education into equestrian pursuits, some become much-loved family pets and some take on the very special role of a loyal friend.

For the third consecutive week, we're celebrating a Willow Park-sold broodmare producing a stakes winner… two in fact! πŸŽ‰

The latest star producer is Chaquinta [NZ] (High Chaparral), the dam of today's Gr3 Gold Trail Stakes winner, unbeaten filly Quintessa [NZ] (Shamus Award). Five-time winner Chaquinta was sold to Rosemont Stud at the 2018 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale for $120,000.

Sunshine in Paris (Invader) returned with a bang taking out the Gr2 Sheraco Stakes, her first run since selling for $3.9mil at this year’s MM Broodmare Sale. Her dam, Zenaida [NZ] (Zabeel), was sold through our 2021 MM Broodmare draft on behalf of Aquis Farm for $240,000 to Paul Willetts Bloodstock.

Following Sunshine in Paris' Gr1 win in February, Zenaida was re-sold by Three Bridges Thoroughbreds this year for $1.4mill, not a bad investment! πŸ‘πŸΌ
