Rosings Performance Horses & Working Dogs

Rosings Performance Horses & Working Dogs Rosings/Hoaths Performance Horses Rosings Performance Stock Horses is located at "Coralyn" Hivesville in the beautiful South Burnett between Murgon & Proston.
(4)

We are situated on 10 acres of beautiful rich chocolate soil country. I breed mainly to Hoaths Peter, who we sold through Nutrien 2021 for $125,000.00. We also breed to well performed outside stallions each year to produce horses that are competitive in a wide range of horse events including Challenges, Working/show horse classe's, Polocrosse and Campdrafting. We have young stock and trained horse

s available throughout the year. My partner John Hoath & I bred Hoaths Peter by Warrenbri Romeo x Creswood Expression in 2010. Peter is a fine example of quality heritage and sought after bloodlines. He carries the magic cross of Romeo & Comet. Peter (named after Peter Knight, owner/breeder of Warrenbri Romeo)shows all the great attributes from his heritage background. He has the beautiful dappled bay colouring of his sire Romeo and the magnificent head of Rivoli Ray and showing ability & a cool, calm nature that will make him another great sire of the future. Conceived from semen that was declared lifeless our miracle was born. This c**t was to be Johns own c**t to make great but unfortunately he lost his battle with cancer in 2012 and never got to ride his c**t. It was both our wishes that I carry on his/our legacy and continue to breed and compete on our horses. Sadly also I made the heart breaking decision to sell him on to help me to find my own security in once again opening a place to call home. Peter is an Open Campdraft and Challenge winner with very little opportunity due to work demands. I also breed Kelpies and Border Collies going back to P***y Hoaths lines and 60 years of selective breeding. I have pups and started dogs for sale throughout the year. Please don’t hesitate to call or message.

Lucerne hay import to Tas Update 16/7/24

I finally have obtained a permit to import Lucerne hay small square bales. It has taken about twice as long as I had hoped but here we are.

I will now be waiting on freight arrangements but hope to see Lucerne hay in the next fortnight 🤞.

There is plenty of supply available to me while ever there is demand so don’t feel you could miss out.
The small bales are in packs of 21 and I will not be breaking packs so it is up to you to buy in a group if you don’t need that many.

Delivery of larger quantities will be possible - poa.
Otherwise pick up will be from our storage at Longford.
I will post further information when I have a firm arrival date.
Pricing is also not locked in yet until I see my final expenses but expect it to be in the $30-32 / bale range.
This is not a cheap or simple exercise by any means and I appreciate the understanding being shown about this.

I know there has been plenty of interest but I would like to keep everyone informed without taking orders at this stage.
Once it’s sitting in my shed I am comfortable to start distributing.

OLD SCHOOL HORSEMANSHIP

If horse is too fat…… feed it less

If horse is too skinny ………….. feed it more

If horse looks good………. feed it the same

If the saddle doesn’t fit….. try a different one

If the saddle fits ……….. use it

If horse is sick……. Ring the vet

If horse is well…… leave it alone and don’t go looking for trouble

If horse is too cold …….. add a rug

If horse is too warm …….. take off a rug

If the horse is sweating and warm….. clip it

If horse isn’t sweating and doing little work….. don’t clip it

Horse needs to be shod…… shoe the horse

Horse doesn’t need to be shod….. leave it until it does need it.

Horses ears are forward ….. it suspects you have treats or it likes you

Horses ears are back and teeth bared……. It doesn’t like you, it’s a narky sod or its going to eat you.

NEW SCHOOL HORSEMANSHIP

If horse is too fat…… either convince yourself that round is a shape and ignore all suggestions that horse is fat (he is just big b***d!) or panic and try to starve horse in four weeks while spending a fortune on horse nutritionalist to help you do so.

If horse is too skinny ………….. Panic buy every weight gaining supplement on the planet. Put horse on expensive diet recommended by an internet randomer. Expect results in 2-3 weeks time.

If horse looks good………. fret and worry every five minutes that it might not be or stay the perfect size, buy endless supplements to keep it exactly how it is.

If the saddle doesn’t fit….. pay someone a fortune to come out and tell you that you need a custom made $3000 saddle that they will provide you with so that they can then charge you for fixing it every few months too. Constantly fret about muscle wastage and ill-fitting saddles

If the saddle fits ……….. get someone to check it just in case. Pay them a fortune to come out and tell you that you need a custom made $3000 saddle that they will provide you with so that they can then charge you for fixing it every few months too. Constantly fret about muscle wastage and ill-fitting saddles

If horse is sick……. Panic, ask advice of randomers on the internet, panic again, watch horse get worse, eventually call the vet, second guess vets opinion, ask internet randomers again, eventually follow vets advice.

If horse is well…… look endlessly for things that might be wrong and spend a fortune trying to find out what they are

If horse is too cold …….. fret and worry about how many rugs the horse should be wearing, what weights they should be and who is going to take them on and off every few hours because the temperature went up or down a degree.

If horse is too warm …….. fret and worry about how many rugs the horse should be wearing, what weights they should be and who is going to take them on and off every few hours because the temperature went up or down a degree.

If the horse is sweating and warm….. over analyse for days on what type and shape of clip to give the horse because how on earth will you make sure he is not too warm or not too cold and now after clipping how on earth will you know what rugs to put on him!?

If horse isn’t sweating and doing little work….. but he will look nice clipped won’t he?

Horse needs to be shod…… what type of shoes? How often will everyone else’s horse get shod? Ask advice of randomers on the internet

Horse doesn’t need to be shod….. panic about whether it needs to be shod

Horses ears are forward ….. the horse loves you dearly and has a deep Bella and Edward twilight-esque relationship with you that is rare and wonderful
Horses ears are back and teeth bared……. Horses aura has changed color and he is trying to convey an important message…. and he might eat you.

🐴🐴Flashback Friday🐴🐴.

Warrenbri Clancy by Romeo and out of a Thoroughbred mare.

Clancy came to Puss as a two year old. He done a lot of mustering and long days which made him the horse he became.

Puss started him in the Novice at Paradise Lagoons in 2004 and finaled him.

He never looked back and went onto win many Campdrafts and Challenges. He won the Nat Buchanan trophy for Campdrafting and also the highest aggregate for the Gold Cup & Canning Downs at Warwick which were the highlights.

Between Puss & Maz they combined their talents and trained a great Stallion for the owners.

She is the Dam of Hoaths Peter and sadly laid to rest as a 6yo when Peter was only a few months old.
We trained and campaigned her for the Young family. She came to us as a green breaker and she went on to win in Campdrafting, Challenges & ASHS Futurities & shows.

Scott Pape-The Barefoot Investor
🐑 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑

Today I’m going to tell you about the time I crushed my eight-year-old’s dream … on purpose.

It all began when I gave him a very expensive present:

I cordoned off a 20-acre paddock on the farm, and gave it to him. Yet this was no regular paddock, it had lush rye grass, a large dam, and brand-new fences. It was sheep heaven!

And then, to start him off in his little business, I loaned him 20 ewes and one extremely happy daddy ram. (My aim was to teach him financial education and s*x education all rolled into one.)

Now my son has never walked past a five cent piece that he hasn’t bent over and picked up. And so it didn’t take long for him to come up with what he thought was a pearler of a way of growing his business:

“Dad, each year, I’ll take some of the money I make from selling the lambs and buy five more sheep”, he said enthusiastically, already mentally counting the money he’d be making.

Talk about compound interest!

And so, around the family dinner table, it was time for me … to burst his bubble.

Here’s the conversation we had:

“OK, mate, let’s cast our minds forward five years.

“You’ve done really well. Each year you make more money than the last, even accounting for buying more sheep. Your business is growing, and you’re a success!

“Now let’s take a walk out to your paddock.

“There are now double the number of sheep crammed in. It looks like a bowling green – there’s not a blade of grass in the entire paddock. It’s all been eaten down. The dam is now a puddle. It’s been drunk dry. Worse, your sheep are dirty and they … stink.

“Why?

“Because there are so many of them packed in, they’re forced to stand and sleep in their wee and poo.

“So you’re doing really well, mate … but what about the lives of your sheep?”

Silence.

On a broader level, this ‘growth at any cost’ mentality is what permeates much of modern-day politics.

Our politicians like to crow about how we’re the ‘lucky country’ that hasn’t had a recession for a record-breaking 34 years. Yet we’ve largely achieved it by bringing more people into our paddock.

Please don’t get me wrong: I am not anti-immigration, and I am absolutely not xenophobic. What I am questioning is the unrelenting, unconstrained goal of ‘economic growth’.

Now at this point you’re probably thinking: “Old Barefoot has finally stopped pretending and is now chowing down a Chiko Roll at Pauline Hanson’s fish’n’chip shop.”

Please explain?

Look, the dude who created the definition of a recession (‘two quarters of declining economic growth’) pleaded for us not to use it as a yardstick for growth.

Yet we do.

So let’s take a look at how all this manufactured growth affects housing.

The rental market in this country is fundamentally broken. “Rental affordability is officially the worst on record”, according to a report last week from REA Group.

The report found that there are “almost zero rental properties that are considered affordable for the lowest-income 30% of households”.

So, a decent question to ask our politicians would be:

“Why are we currently bringing in 2,000 new migrants a day – 659,800 in the last year – when the rental market is in crisis?”

Yes, there’s more to solving the property crisis than immigration: there’s the tax breaks that favour investors, a genuine lack of supply, and more social housing that needs to be built. Yet the fact remains that, as it stands, overseas arrivals are outpacing the construction of new homes at a rate of almost four to one.

Bah! Let’s think of the sheep!

Flashback Friday

College Shaka

Bought as a green 12yo and trained by Marilyn this boy was pretty special. Sharks as he was called was sold to Marilyn because he bucked his owner off. He came around quickly and become a force in ASHS Futurities and shows from 2000-2007

He competed sussecfully until he was 18yo and sadly developed an infection on his kidneys that couldn’t be cured.

He was sent on agistment while Marilyn was away working on the road Droving with some young horses. Sadly after being under lights & fully rugged he was turned out in the middle of winter without rugs on and he died in the paddock in 2007. Not sure why the agistment facility would do that to him and that he would have suffered due to his condition. Very heartbreaking & unforgivable ❤️‍🩹

RIP beautiful sharks ❤️❤️

Flashback Friday

The beautiful and talented

🐎🐴🦄Hoaths Peter🐎🐴🦄

Bred from Semen declared lifeless Puss & Marilyn got their Romeo c**t in 2010.

Peter was 20 months old when Puss passed so he never got to ride his dream c**t.

Marilyn & Peter went onto win many Campdrafts, Cutouts and Challenges.
They had a bond that is hard to find.

The real story,

Puss had made sure that Peter was to be Marilyn’s in his Will as he had whispers of his family attempting to do the wrong thing in his last week. He wrote that Marilyn would find the horses full potential and that his family had no claim over the c**t. The whispers were true and Marilyn fought long and hard to keep him and all that was left to Marilyn in his Will.

A friend/solicitor wrote the Will and unfortunately the firm and family robbed the estate underhandedly.

The family couldn’t get Peter and proceeded to damage Marilyn & Peters credibility and reputation which in tern made it hard to continue on with the legacy/plans Puss & Marilyn had made.

She said going to Campdrafts with people glaring, snearing, bullying and bagging out the c**t with all sorts of untrue stories was to hard to bear in the end. People she has never met carrying absolute lies the family had purposely spun.

Unfortunately due to the above, money, time, health and some desperate wrong life decisions Peter was never campaigned properly and was sent to a few different Riders/trainers that done wrong by the horse & Marilyn.

Getting into Campdrafts to promote him was extremely hard after Puss was gone. Also not been left with the property she was supposed to get in the will, she had to rely on others to do the right thing and only had the opportunity to breed 4 foals by him.

Marilyn being left with no home or job (ohh boy that’s another unbelievable story in itself!!)after Puss passed she made the hardest decision of her life to sell the beloved C**t & Puss’s legacy.

Eventually sold in 2021 at the Nutrien Classic sale for $125,000.00 which at the time was the highest priced C**t /Stallion to be sold. He still holds the record for the HSH Stallion/C**t. It was bitter sweet but has set her up to finally again own her own farm a long way from the horrible scene and disgusting treatment that the cut throat horse industry/Campdraftdrafting can be.

Unfortunately the horse hasn’t gone on to reach his full potential or be cared for like he should and has disappeared from competition in the last couple of years.

It’s so good to see Marilyn picking up the peices of her life after a long 12 years and to continue on and use her incredible ability with horses. Go Maz!!
❤️

Flashback Friday for my beautiful Satosa California. We enjoyed much success in Challenge, Campdraft and ASHS Futurities. I bought her as a green 3yo in 2012 and trained her after Puss passed. By Warrenbri Clancy who we campaigned for his owners from a 2yo in 2002 until that fateful day in 2012. I sold her through the Nutrien Classic before the covid boom for $24K. Unfortunately due to Covid she never got campaigned and was turned into a broodmare for the new owners. You always hope that the goods ones go on and do something more.
