A huge thankyou to all those who purchased a raffle ticket at our stand last weekend at the big day out for dogs. We raised $180 for pets in the park, a charity close to my heart, which provides much needed veterinary care for pets of the homeless.

Meet Loki!

It's fair to say Loki is not a fan of needles and vet clinics and I'm sure he's had many who have come before cowering in their boots with his fierceness.

There was no convincing Loki, so after bundling him up in a fluffy blanket we quickly gave him his check up and his his needle with a few grumbles along the way, but with far less stress than a carrier, car ride and clinic.

Minutes later we were friends again and he happily accepted treats and tummy rubs.

If you have a kitty who hates trips to the vet and is happier at home give us a call or book online via the link below

Meet Otto!

He may looked relaxed in this photo but Otto is usually full of beans and doesn't just wag his tail, he wags his whole body!

Otto has an itchy paw after coming into contact with a plant called Trad (more commonly known as Wandering Jew). This invasive plant can be a real pain to deal with in the garden, but even more of a pain for your dog when they develop contact dermatitis because of it.

Keep a look out for this pesky plant when out walking and do your best to eradicate it from your garden!

It feels like Christmas has snuck up on us year!
Thankyou all for your support again this year.

We have some hot days coming up so be sure not to walk your dog in the heat to avoid heat stroke and burnt paws.

If you think your pet is heat stressed wet them down and place a fan on them until a vet can assess them. Avoid placing anything over them including wet towels which can trap heat and avoid ice blocks which can divert heat internally to vital organs.

A reminder about all those tasty Christmas treats.

The following are toxic to your pet!

Chocolate ๐Ÿซ
Grapes, sultanas and raisins ๐Ÿ‡
Xylitol (sweetener in many lollies) ๐Ÿฌ
Macadamias
Lillies (toxic if your cat ingests any part of the plant)๐Ÿฑ
Onions and garlic ๐ŸŒฐ
Cooked bones ๐Ÿฆด
Avocado ๐Ÿฅ‘

Your dog WILL smell those choccies wrapped up under the tree and eat them when you're sleeping! ๐ŸŽ

NO to Christmas cake or pudding!

NO to shortbread with macadamias in them.

Be very CAREFUL with leftovers

If you suspect your dog has eaten something they shouldnโ€™t, seek veterinary attention ASAP. A wait and see approach can be fatal.

Most importantly have a wonderful holiday season and I will see you again in the New Year! ๐ŸŽ„

โ„๏ธ It's getting chilly out there! As the weather cools down our older pets can start to suffer with arthritis moreso than any other time of year.

Some of the warning signs include;

- Struggling on walks
- Hesitating to jump
- Slow to rise after rest

It's easy to see these symptoms of pain and think, they're just getting old.
However, old age doesn't have to mean painful joints!

There is a wide range of medications, supplements and diets that can help to not only alleviate your pets pain but to slow the progression of arthritis ๐Ÿ’Š๐Ÿ’‰

If you think your pet may be struggling with arthritis, make an appointment for a check up in the comfort of your home to arrange a pain management plan today and get your pet moving again. ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿˆ

February is here! Summer has well and truely kicked in, and although this brings plenty of fun in the sun with our furry family members it can also mean a rise in heat stroke cases in the clinic.

Remember to walk your dogs in the early morning or evening on hot days, ensure they have plenty of cool water and shade, and ideally inside in air conditioning where possible. Definitely avoid hot pavements and asphalt which can cause significant burns to paw pads. Take extra care with brachycephalic (squish-nose breeds) and rabbits as these animals are especially prone.

If you suspect your pet is heat stressed cool them by wetting them down and providing air flow with a fan and seek veterinary attention straight away. Placing wet towels or ice packs on them can make the problem worse by trapping excess heat and shunting hot blood to vital organs.

Have fun and stay safe everyone!

2021 is fully booked!

I'd like to take this opportunity to say a huge thankyou to all my wonderful clients old and new this year. It's been a rocky one for us all but it is so comforting to know that you all are ensuring your pet's health remains a priority during hard times.

I'll still be available for telehealth where possible so do not hesitate to call and as always I will endeavour to help in any way I can.

Some Christmas wisdom to leave you with for now,
