Odin's dinner gourmet chicken frame, I also give these to him frozen on a hot day, he loves it. Dogs love chewing, licking and sniffing, so making his dinner last longer and getting him to put a bit of effort in to eating it makes him a lot more satisfied with his meal!

It's a dog's breakfast 😉 This is what Odin had for breakfast this morning after a long run and pretend hunt!

Poor nutrition can contribute to behaviour issues in dog's, much the same as humans! So when we do behaviour consults, health and nutrition is a very important area to cover.

🐕 Little Bro 🐶 Environmental enrichment is changing the environment to provide mental and physical challenges. Anything that makes a dog lick, sniff or chew will help to tire them out. Buried treats in a sandpit, marrow bone, frozen tubs of broth and treats, scatter feeding, lick mats are just a few things that provide enrichment to a dog. Nothing beats breed specific exercise, however environmental enrichment is very complimentary 👌

If your dog frequently stops to urinate while you’re walking with him or her, it doesn’t mean they’re having a bladder problem. They’re doing what dogs do: communicating with other dogs by leaving urine marks.

Believe it or not, a dog’s urine marking is serious business for dogs. It’s an instinctual behavior going back thousands of years.

By urine marking, your dog is leaving a message for other dogs, so to speak. When other dogs come along and sniff the area, they will know your dog has been there and they will most likely leave their own message by urinating in the same or adjacent spot. This unique form of communication can even tell other dogs if they sense danger or are available sexually. Urine marking sends messages to other dogs about where they’ve been and what they’ve been doing. So when you’re out walking with your dog, be sure to slow down and let them sniff the messages left by other dogs and catch up on the local “news”.

Titer test results to show if a dog needs vaccination. This dog was last vaccinated at 14 weeks old, he is now 2 years and 5 months old and shows he still has immunity for Parvo and distemper. If you are worried about over vaccination, ask your vet about doing this test instead. Pet friendly holiday parks like big 4 accept titer test results in place of vaccination certificate!

Out for breakfast after Odin's titer test at the vets 😋

A titer test is a laboratory analysis that measures the level of antibodies in the blood, as well as the presence of bacteria or disease. It is used to determine if a dog is immune to a virus or whether they require vaccination for protection.

We are checking today for Parvo and distemper.

Reactivity is a common challenge, it is overlooked in smaller breeds often because it doesn't look as scary in small dogs as it does in larger dogs, but it's the same behaviour. The owners are putting in a lot of work to create a positive association to other dogs with counter-conditioning and desensitisation. It's a pleasure working with these guys and seeing the improvements 🙌
