Happy Birthday Greater Bendigo Snake Control !

On this day 1 year ago I decided to take the plunge and fly solo with my snake catching.

It's been a really great year and has far outweighed my expectations.

In this time I developed a strong social media following, a website, merchandise, interviews, workshops, networks and caught around 70 snakes during the season.

When I first started this journey I was extremely stressed about what would lie ahead, and if I would even get a snake call at all!

During this time I also lost my full time job, which was funding the setup of my business.

So far I have managed to survive, pay bills and provide a full time snake removal and wildlife education service to the Bendigo region and beyond.

There were a few tough moments when I was the victim of bullying, but I soldiered on and persevered.

I want to extend a huge heart felt thankyou to everyone I have met , and those who have supported me along the way.

This 1 year anniversary also considers with myself being accepted into the next stage of the NEIS scheme, and I now have a fantastic mentor behind me to help make my business dreams come true.

With so much unexpected growth and success in the first 12 months I'm very excited to see what 2022 has in store for me and my little business.

This is what fishing line can do!!
Photo was taken at Goulburn Park in 2020 by myself and I saw him swimming two nights before,I pulled him out of the water. He was trapped in 3 different lines that where in the water.
The lines did not have any sinkers or hooks on them.
I constantly pick up fishing lines that has been discarded on the banks

~Goulburn River Cow Rescue 🐮🐄~
The R.M.F Wildlife family received a call last night from a member of the public who came across a cow that was stuck and unable to move in the middle of the Goulburn River between Mitchellstown and Seymour. The member of public managed to get her out of the water and back onto the embankment. Unfortunately, it became quite apparent that she had broken her legs. After taking the call an receiving all the details, it became very clear that it was going to be challenging to track her down and get her help. However, we got working on finding the cows location alongside the Seymour Police officers and two skilled volunteers who helped us find the property owners and navigate us to the cows where abouts.

Once arriving and observing what had happened, the serious injuries the cow sustained were caused by her falling off a steep embarkment into the river. We were able to gain further access with the police officers onto the neighbouring private property that led down to the bank where she was laying and after receiving the owner's permission, she is now at peace from pain and suffering.
