🐴 Jax, australian riding pony cross TB 6 year old gelding. At Hilltop Horsemanship for further education under saddle.
Jax has been with us for approaching 2 weeks of ridden education with a focus on the canter transition (including him getting his correct lead) and traverling forward. A huge success for Jax has been establishing leadership - starting with him being responsive and engaged with movements on the ground.

🐴 Jimmy (gelding by Village Jasper) unraced stb at Hilltop Horsemanship to be started under saddle.
Jimmy is in the conclusion stages of his education with us - he is progressing well and spending time out of the arena building valuable confidence and exposure. We use farm rides (solo and in company) for our horses to also ensure that they do not loose interest in their work - a good and engaged mind as they are educated is important.

🐴 Frank - raced stb as Brallos Pass at Hilltop Horsemanship for further education under saddle.
Further education under saddle for Frank is now including exposure - farm rides and obstacle sessions have been utilised to build his confidence and add vaulable time under saddle.

🐴 Rosco - raced as Roll with Rosco, 2016 gelding.
Roscos retraining undersaddle has progressed to included hacking out. Rides around the farm allow for valuable time in the saddle but also give opportunities for exposure to new things - including different terrains, other animals and obstacles.

One of our main focus has always been to produce confident and relaxed horses as they begin their ridden life. This often means that each horse requires a different approach and time frame spent with us.
Toto Sunrise known as Tully (2021 w'blood gelding) is with us to be started under saddle.

His personality along with always being with his owner and with minimal outings from his home property meant that he has taken a slower approach to his training as he presented worried and at times anxious.
Sessions have remained short - not to overwhelm his mind and allowing him to still learn. They have included a mixture of approaches - including long reining and using a lead horse to build his confidence.
The video below (first ride with a different rider) shows how important investing in relaxation and confidence is - what a lovely moment to see this kind horse grow and now be ready to further his ridden education.
We are thankful to his owner for trusting us with her special horse and believing in our training approach.

🐎 Mercedes 9yr old
Warmblood mare who was started in october at Hilltop Horsemanship.
Mercedes was a lovely mare to start - willing and kind. She has gone onto be ridden by a lovely youth rider - and the updates we have revieved truely bring a smile to our face. It is lovely to see horses we have started accepting a new rider and remain confident in their ridden life.

🐴 Kid - unraced stb 6yr old gelding - at Hilltop Horsemanship for starting undersaddle.
Kid is a well put together horse (we get comments all the time of "is he a stb?") and has arrived to be started under saddle so that his family can hit the trails and have him as an all round riding horse. Kid struggled with above the eye exercises - can be a training area that needs specific training in stb horse. Above the eye exercises allows for them to confidently accept a rider. One exercise utilised to build his confidence is ponying off our lead horse Boomarang.

🐴 Kingy - unraced stb trotting breed gelding - are Hilltop Horsemanship for starting under saddle.
To allow for exposure and to gain valuable time under saddle Kingy has begun farm rides/hacking out. These rides are introduced once the horse has a understanding of ridden life in the arena. Kingys owner will be using him to hack out - on the trail so these rides are important to build his confidence in new areas. In coming rides he will be exposed to farm abunals, open spaces, water and more.

🐴 Kingy - unraced stb trotting breed gelding - are Hilltop Horsemanship for starting under saddle.
Kingy has had education on the ground over his intial time in work with these learnings now progressing to his ridden education. A big focus has been on nose control and bend - a common area stb horses require as they transition to saddle. Kingy is keen to learn and engaged with exercises - even when become unsure and worried.

🐎 Buttons - 3yr old WB x Welsh C Mare at Hilltop Horsemanship to be started under saddle.
Buttons has been kind and accepting of her education towards being an all round ridden horse. A focus at Hilltop Horsemanship is to help each horse build confidence on the ground and under saddle setting them up with a foundation to pursue a variety of ridden careers.

Ruby-rose has been with us for early education and confidence building focusing on handling of her feet and groundskills. She has progressed nicely accepting all new aspects of education asked of her. She will now be allowed time to process her new teachings before her starting under saddle is completed.
Included in her stay has been bodywork sessions and turn out in day paddocks allowing her to remain engaged.

🐎 Scooter (registered paint bred - DMB Statutory Declaration) at Hilltop Horsemanship for return to ridden work in preparation for sale.
Scooter was started under saddle as a young horse and then had an extended spell. He has been brought back into work starting from the groundwork. His progressed significantly in the last handful of rides and has now progressed to farm rides.
