We didn't think he would make it but once we untangled him and removed the barbed wire fence , treated his wounds and he had a nights rest and some food , he is looking really good ...
We will give him a test flight tonight and go from there ...

What a perfect day πŸ’œπŸ¦˜πŸ¦˜πŸ’œ

A beautiful release crew , 7 happy chubby wallabies and a perfect peice of paradise for our joeys to call home.

Some of these babies have been in our care for 18mths , right from tiny little pinky joeys the size of your palm upto strong , confident teens ready to start their real wild life ..

Huge thanks again to Stephen and Nyree of Mena Creek Reserve for not only always providing our precious babies a safe forever peice of paradise and also for helping us make ends meet , We really do appreciate you πŸ’œπŸ¦˜πŸ•πŸπŸ¨πŸ•ŠπŸ¦…πŸ¦πŸΈπŸŠπŸ’πŸ¦ŽπŸπŸ’œ

Good Morning Wildlife lovers ...
Today we are swallowing our pride and reaching out to our amazing community and all Aussies everywhere for help.

Unfortunately Wild Woman Wildlife Rescue is struggling to make ends meet , with no donations or grants received in the over 12 months we really are in dire straights .

Our 4-6mthly bills are aprox.-

β€’Wallaby/Kangaroo Formula $730
β€’Rescue costs ie. Petrol , Rescue packs, hanging bags etc of $1200
β€’ Bird formulas $400
β€’Small Mammal formulas $210
β€’ Fruit , Veg , seed etc $800

And thats without all those occasional extra like Vet bills ,Portacots ,pouches , bottles , teats , fencing , gates , shelters, straw , kanga mix , blankets , heat pads , syringes and medications ..

We really need your help right now to be able to continue to rescue and care for the hundreds of animals we have come into care each year...

We have been relying solely on our Wild Woman tins and our presidents ,carers/members pockets/bank accounts, which is very quickly depleted..

If you are in a position to help , even something as small as $5 ;the wildlife will be very grateful and you would be taking alot of the stress and pressure off of our carers.

Our organisation have always committed to taking in any animal that has nowhere else to go , Even when we are full we make room so they get a chance at life ... It would break our hearts to have to start turning babies in need away due to lack of funding/money. ..😭😭
But if things keep going the way they are,we may be forced to close our doors competely .

We do not receive any government funding or assistance ,we dont get a wage for what we do ,every dollar (and more) we get from our tins and use to get from donations goes directly on the wildlife in care ..

Please consider giving us a hand , our wildlife really needs you right now

Lots of wonderful things happening at the moment.
Very few calls for wildlife in need is always a good thing ..
The babies of the mob ,Tom-Tom and June-Bug are doing extremely well and the big kids are almost ready for release . We have had some lovely visitors to one of our release properties ( Cassowary family) and had to remove a rather large water python off the property so he didn't cause us too much drama... Lovely gentle snake ..
NOT SO WONDERFUL - we have had this poor lil male wallaby handed in today, completely emaciated, with no muscle tone, scruffy fur , dull eyes and no will to fight to live in him .
Only handed in after the member of the public ;who found him over a month ago and attempted to raise him without proper knowledge , milk formulas or any supplements noticed he was going down hill quickly.
The only hard feed he has been offered over the last month is grass and he has been fed mostly almond milk , he has now lost the ability to hop/walk or even stand ... due to lack of correct care .. PLEASE don't try and raise these guys without experience, Im sure many people mean well but you need to do what's right by the joey , how you feel should never come into it.
The member of the public who handed him in has also made us aware of 2 other joeys in our local area that are also being raised by members of the public, it is a $40,000 ++ fine if you are caught with native wildlife without the relevant permits , we have names , its a small town , it wont take long or much investigation into these people to find addresses , soif this is you and you read this ,it is in your best interests to hand them in now , not later ..
Our local police are very happy to confiscate these animals and make sure they end up in the right hands .
We would much rather give you a day to say your goodbyes and have you hand them over yourself ;than have us and the police knocking on your door .
Please call 0474205500 , I will personally come and pick them up , I will even meet you somewhere other than your property if that makes you more comfortable but please DO THE RIGHT THING .. By this time tomorrow we will be handing this matter over to the police ..
Caring means doing what is right for them ...

Dawn of the Wallaby πŸ˜†
Its been a Wallaby Week πŸ˜†
With 4 of our older kids heading off to start their real wild lives on Saturday, they took afew seconds to suss out their new homes before literally sprinting off to explore .
Sunday we had 5 new babies come into care to join Baby Madi and Joe Simmons and former our next mob , even if Joe Simmons is having abit if a sulk , Lil guy is a Wallaby that doesn't like other wallabies πŸ˜† Don't worry Joe you'll get use to them πŸ’œ
Today we made an early morning trip to the vet with an Injured fence hanger who unfortunately had to be euthanised due to her injuries and Lil Wombat tagged along for an xray , we were able to work out she isnt in any pain and that there is nothing wrong with her legs , spine or tail so we will continue with her physio and hopefully she will be walking in no time ...

It's been a very busy 72 hours but we do love to be busy .

~Pheasant Coucal~

This little ball of cuteness arrived this morning, looks like our wildlife is having abit of a hard time again as we have been inundated with calls compared to very few over the last few months .

Unfortunately he got separated from his parents , he is in good condition but as you can tell he was super hungry .
Very proud Mumma moment when he ate a whole pinkie mouse all by himself πŸ’œ
Now to come up with a fitting name for him .

While we may have been a little bit slack on updating our socials , we certainly haven't been slacking off with the wildlife or home life . It's been a very busy 5 months and with this rain set in , I'm sure we will be run off our feet just trying to keep the yards tended for the next few months aswell but here are some photos of our latest rescues .
Quite the mixed bunch , all are doing extremely well and we are looking forward to another release next weekend πŸ’œπŸ¦˜πŸ¦ŽπŸπŸ¦œπŸπŸ¦‡πŸ’πŸ¦‹πŸŠπŸ’œ Will update again after the release..

Lovely day for afew releases .
Lil Minnow is now a very confident big Minnow who does whatever a Pheasant Coucal does each day and only comes home for Breakfast and Dinner .

And April our first black cockatoo is feeling much more like herself after afew days in care recovering from a nasty concussion , she was able to hit the trees for a little while today..
But was still abit unsure and has maybe decided its quite nice to be looked after for awhile as she didn't want me to leave and kept flying back to the car with me , I couldn't just leave her there confused and unfortunately her parents seem to have moved on so we will do practise releases for the next few days until she is really confident enough to be on her own again or we find her parents 🀞🀞🀞 ...

And they just keep coming .
With 4 pinkies in care (2 padmelons and 2 agiles ) our carers are up every 3 hours night and day .
Hard times but well worth it at the end .

Wish us luck .

We are also looking at taking on afew new local carers over the next month or so , prior experience preferred but not essential .

The last few weeks have been super tough on us , We are stretched incredibly thin with many of our carers having so many in care that we just can't take anymore in right now ..😭. It absolutely breaks our heart to have to say No or ask people to call another organisation but we can only do so much .
We want to apoligise to everyone that we haven't been able to help lately and hope they understand that it truly does break our hearts...We think about these animals forever ,going over and over it in our head , wondering if we should have done something differently ..
So sending us a text saying "Oh well I'll just shoot/kill it then" doesn't help anyone ...
Anyway gere are some pics and quick report of just some of the babies that have come into care over the last few days ...

Minnow- a tiny little Pheasant Coucal found alone in a shed in Euramo, he's very skinny so we think he mustve been without Mum for at least afew days..

Flip- A clearly human raised male joey weighing 3.6kgs found alone sitting under someones letterbox across from Mission Beach Resort with an injury to his ear that has caused quite a large possible access *yet to be assessed by the vet.
Please don't try and raise wildlife without a permit guys, there is so much more to raising them than just sticking a bottle in their mouth and you can't just chuck them out when something goes wrong, Call us !! This poor baby isn't even weaned and he was starving .
For me I don't care where these babies come from or why just call so we can help ..

Cranky- 1 rainbow lorikeet who decided to play with a little doggy and hurt his beak but is doing well and will be released later on today.

Chelsea and Casper- 2 Little Gliders believed to be Mum and Son found attached to a barb wire fence within meters of each other , now doing extremely well and will be released sometime over the next few weeks ..

Baby Madi- 1.4kg Female joey who's Mumma unfortunately ran straight out in front of a car and didnt survive but left this little girl orphaned , thank you so much to Luke for his quick thinking , pulling over , scooping up baby and bringing her into care straight away .. We appreciate you πŸ’œπŸ¦˜πŸ’œ

We have many others in care but we are so busy caring that we are finding it hard to find the time to post them all ...

With the holidays now started we want to ask everyone to please slow down , watch the side of the road aswell as the road and just be aware of your surroundings , Our wildlife really need us right now and we can't do it without you all ...

Happy Holidays ,Stay Safe and Enjoy your families πŸ’œπŸ¦˜πŸ¨πŸ•πŸ¦ŽπŸ¦…πŸŠπŸ¦‰πŸ’πŸ¦‡πŸπŸ¦‹πŸπŸ’œ
