Big thanks to Dr. Amelia, Han, Stephanie, Mandy, Cat O'Leary, and Matt Hollindale for making it all happen!

🌟We are so proud of our new AEA blood bank members and the fantastic work they're doing!🌟

Pet blood donations can mean the difference between life and death. Blood transfusions are crucial in treating illnesses, trauma, surgery, snake bites, or poisoning. Since blood can only be stored for 1 month, regular donations from generous fur donors are essential.

With medicine, surgery, and advanced diagnostics all in one location, our patients receive the highest standard of care. Our team is dedicated to ensuring each pet's comfort and care.

New donors can be directed to our nurses for a detailed explanation of the donation process. We conduct a complete physical examination and health check to ensure pets are fit for donation.

We work as a team to maintain a steady supply of blood products that benefit all our patients. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

Here at Animal Emergency Australia we believe that healthy animals need a healthy climate, so our practice is excited to announce that we are taking part in the Climate Care Program. Developed by our friends at Vets for Climate Action, the program will help us to learn how we can make our practice environmentally sustainable.

Over the next few months, we’ll be learning about:
• better recycling practises to minimise our landfill
• protecting our precious water resource
• energy use and efficiency
• renewable energy
• how to make better buying decisions, and
• chemicals, toxins and pharmaceuticals.

This is one way we are doing our bit to be more sustainable and help to halt climate change.

We’re looking forward to sharing our Climate Care journey with you and our Climate Champions are happy to answer any questions. In the meantime, we’d love to hear about actions you take in your own home and everyday life to be more environmentally friendly. Share below in the comments.

Our Animal Emergency Service Tanawha team are no strangers to dogs eating odd items - but 30 pieces of wire is something we don't often see!

Thanks to very clever thinking by the AES Tanawha team, all pieces of wire were rapidly removed before they could cause any damage to this playful pup.

So how did they do it? Find out here thanks to Sunshine Coast News: https://loom.ly/MmSRWbU

18/03/2024

With heavy hearts, we pay respects to a true pioneer in veterinary science: Adj. Prof. Philip Moses. Phil passed away on Saturday morning after a valiant battle with cancer, marking the end of an era for the veterinary community in Australia and beyond.

For over three decades, Phil was not just a colleague, but a mentor, friend, and inspiration to all across the veterinary profession. As a past president of the College of Vet Scientists, a dedicated member of the QLD Vet Surgeons Board, and a cherished teacher to countless veterinary students.

Phil was a beacon of knowledge and expertise in the care of brachycephalic dogs, guiding both the veterinary field and pet owners towards better understanding and patient care. Recently recognised for his service to veterinary science and animal welfare, Phil was awarded an Order of Australia medal last year. Truly a testament to his tireless dedication and impact.

Phil's legacy is not only in his achievements but in the countless lives—both human and animal—he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and constant commitment to veterinary care. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Phil's family, his wife Maryanne and children, friends, colleagues, and everyone whose life was bettered by knowing him.

Though we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual, we also celebrate his vast contributions throughout the veterinary world. Phil's passion will continue to inspire us all to strive for excellence in our care for animals and each other.

Rest in peace, Adj. Prof. Phil Moses. Your profound impact on the lives of all animals will leave a lasting legacy across the veterinary profession.

This March, the team at Animal Emergency Service are joining the fight against childhood cancer alongside the Children's Cancer Institute by running or walking 86km for a cure. 👟 Donate to our team here: https://loom.ly/iCMfX6E

Why 86km?

That's how many children across Australia are diagnosed with cancer every single month. So support this worthy cause, make a donation, or lace up your running shoes and let's put an end to children's cancer.
