Applications open for grooms and/or riders!
Location: Somersby NSW 2250
The team at DPR focus on the early education and training of horses. We are seeking new members to join our growing team at our new location of Somersby, NSW.
The ideal candidate will have a real passion for working with horses, as we are looking for individuals that want to progress and improve their horsemanship knowledge. If you are looking to build and showcase your equine skill set, this is the place for you.
We work with thoroughbreds, warmbloods and many other types of horses. This is not a track work position and riders from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Daily tasks and duties involve the following:
• Educate horses in their groundwork using our taught and/or preferred methods.
• Educate horses in their ridden work using our taught and/or preferred methods.
• Assist farrier, vets, chiropractor etc. with horses’ requirements/treatments
• Provide an exceptional level of care to all horses residing with us.
• Feeding, grooming, ensuring horses living areas are clean e.g., stables and yards.
• Assist with general farm duties as required
Hours of work -
This position is full-time.
Desired Experience/Attributes:
• A background or prior work experience with horses
• Confidence and calmness in your approach to horses
• Able to work well in a team environment
• Quick learner and able to take direction
• Reliable, punctual, and motivated
Renumeration - Salary will be dependent on applicants age and level of experience.
Appropriate rates paid for weekends when required.

First rides Don’t you get nervous? 😱How long does it take? What do you do? Whats involved? Here’s a little insight on what we look for - 1. Confidence - Build a horses confidence up to your feel and movement, and the feel of the saddle before taking the next step. 2. Understanding - Make sure their responses are soft and show clear understanding so you have a baseline to refer back to if they become insecure at any point. 3. Simplicity - Apply as little pressure as possible to get the result, the experience is a lot to absorb and giving too many cues or aids is just confusing. 4. Trust - Allow forward movement and go with the horse as much as your ability and seat allows. 5. Patience - take plenty of pause to reward and allow the horse to reflect on the experience. 6. Enjoy the ride! If you can get this right, the road stays a whole lot smoother from here 👌🏻
