Paddy the 14 month old beagle/spaniel mix was recently adopted and he and his new family had a consult today to get some strategies on helping him adjust to his new home. He needed a nap towards the end of the consult after working hard using his brain. Mental stimulation and enrichment is SO important. 💕

Be your dog’s advocate
• Never force your dog to accept a stranger’s touch.
• Stand up for your dog if they seem uncomfortable.
• Pay attention to your dog’s body language, signs and signals.
• Be your dog’s advocate or wingman, and keep them safe.
Your dog will quickly learn that you will always be there to help them be comfortable and keep them safe from harm.

Today beautiful Nell the standard poodle and I progressed her Drop/down training to adding in more duration, distance and distractions before being released. I started behaving differently; doing things such as dropping the lead, turning my back, walking away, jumping, crouching down etc. Doing these things helps us to build a strong behaviour that isn’t reliant on being in a specific place at a specific time.
