Did you know that Peter Dutton voted against keeping the NBN in public hands? Make no mistake, he will drive up internet prices and leave us all worse off.

We know that families and businesses need high speed internet at an affordable price. A Labor Government will deliver that as we build Australia’s future. That’s one of the many reasons to vote Labor at the next election.

I was at a local pub last night and listening to a Territorian trying to explain Peter Dutton’s Nuclear plan based on something he’d read online.

To be clear - for the Territory the future is cheap reliable power through renewables and gas. Any future nuclear scheme, even if it did stack up, will be Territory taxpayers subsidising the building of nuclear power plants down South (they will no doubt want to bury the nuclear waste in NT though but thats it.)

As far as down South and East Coast & WA goes, State governments are listening to the warnings from independent energy experts at the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial (IEEFA) that say nuclear could hike household power bills by up to $1,200.

Peter Dutton is still pushing this expensive and risky story even if his own home state of QLD isn’t buying it.

It was great to come together to enjoy some beautiful food, some fun trivia and good company, and reflect on what was a big year with 3 elections and lots of local issues. While 2024 didn’t see us achieve the election outcomes we’d have liked, we will keep standing up for the community and the values of Labor. 2025 is set to be another year of doing just that, as we head towards a Federal election.

How awesome is the early childhood announcement!!

Anthony Albanese has promised a guaranteed 3 days of subsidised childcare per week, with $1 billion going towards expanding quality and access by building 160 child care centres across the country.

This is great news not just for families, but more importantly children who come from vulnerable and disadvantaged families who will benefit so much from greater access to quality early learning and care.

We’re scrapping the Activity Test for subsidised child care, to give families more options and kids the best possible start in life.

Because we want to make sure every child can access quality early education.
