Elite Equine Vets has a strong focus on quality preventative and therapeutic equine dentistry. All our vets have completed postgraduate training in equine dentistry to ensure the best care for your horse.
🌟Our Elite Equine difference is that all horses are sedated and examined in our portable crush, we believe this is imperative to allow identification and management of pathology. We collect any relevant history and perform an external examination of the head, jaw and incisors. A dental speculum is placed to safely hold the mouth open, and the mouth is rinsed thoroughly. A thorough intra-oral examination is performed using a dental light and mirror, which allows assessment of all soft tissue and dental structures. Recommendations for any further investigation(s) or imaging are then discussed prior to treatment. Routine treatment involves rasping of sharp enamel points (odontoplasty) to optimise balance and function of your horse's mouth, however additional treatment is often required if other abnormalities are identified. All findings, treatments and recommendations are recorded on a comprehensive dental chart and emailed to you directly. Additionally, all horses are weighed and all geldings receive a free sheath clean🌟
Early recognition of pathology allows management of lesions before they progress, which optimises function and longevity of the teeth, and often saves on cost overall!
