I am almost completely booked up prior to then and the first fortnight back.

So if you haven't been booking ahead and know you will be due please get in touch!
As always I highly recommend pre booking a few at the time of your appointment, or where possible booking the year in advance.

Something a little different......
Some of you may have been aware I have been interstate for a few days.
I went to Canberra to help my best mate start treating, and learn to continue treating her horses chronic skin issue.
In a few days of treatment there is already a big difference. And a big difference in the horses comfort levels in being treated.

Horses need their skin cared for just as much as dogs! Most horses are exposed constantly to the elements so their skin and coat takes a beating!

I can't wait to see an update each week as she continues to help the skin as it goes through it's keratinization cycle and we reach healthy new skin free from the icky stuff!

Not long now till Christmas!!

Reminder I am closed from Saturday 23rd to Tuesday 2nd January.

January is getting close to booked up, so please book ahead as much in advance as possible, some of you are already booked for the whole year which is fantastic!!

Dont forget to touch base as soon as possible if you may need to reschedule any Christmas appointments.
As I am working long days and 6 day weeks to fit everyone in, I do not have any room for movement unless I can find people willing to swap appointments.

Thank you to everyone for being so understanding and respectful during this crazy time of year. I am really feeling very special that I have such amazing clients who do treat me with such kindness!

After months of anticipation, I finally got to spend a weekend learning from an awesome groomer from America! Blake Hernandez has made many a groomers day by coming to Australia and being so incredibly helpful in such a fun and easy way to understand. Many laughs were had and many tips and pointers!
I am so grateful for this weekend and for being able to gain a better understanding of my poodle grooming and as always to strive to do better! Thank you so very much Blake! Will be looking forward to you coming back in the future, shout out if you run out of chicken salt.

My old girl did well, just enough hair to help me learn the start of what I wanted to learn, though there was a few things I wanted to try I almost couldn't decide........now, which poodles are wanting some fun new trims.🤣

One of my absolute favourite breeds! They really are such characters! If I didn't have some in my family as a kid and still do, I'd never have met any to know how much of a fun dog they are.
I think I've come across one WFT client in my grooming years. Only others I know are through breeders/show world.

It's nearly Christmas time!!!
Please note, I'm closed from Saturday 23rd December and back at it again on Tuesday 2nd January!

Please check in with me if you cannot remember your appointment/s prior to Christmas or you now can't make any of the appointments between now and new year.

I currently have no room to move between now and new years, so please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or want to try to reschedule. This gives me time to fill your spots or offer someone to swap who may be wanting earlier!

Hey lovely people!! Long time no post...I do apologize, I have had a lot on my plate outside of working! It's that crazy time of year!

To help reduce the insane amount of heat from the afternoon soon, and keep your dogs and myself cooler, I have just had my windows tinted by Matt Bull Window Tinting.
Sadly you won't be able to see in when you arrive now (never fear, we can see you), just come on in as usual!!! I will lock the door if I have a suspected or known pen climber/jumper.

Day 2 of a weekend of learning!
It has been amazing learning from the masters! I absolutely love understanding science behind things, so this has been incredible to be able to listen and have it all explained by people who have studied the science.

I am excited to be able to do my part and help make a difference to as many dogs as possible, be that purely by prevention or educating owners or groomers.

(I'm in the front row!! Soaking up as much info as possible....Of course 😁)

Important reminder

Heading into what is the busiest time of year for groomers, and for many others too, please be mindful that...

* I have very little wriggle room to make changes between now and new year.
* Last minute changes may result in your dog having to wait till their next scheduled appointment.
* Try, if possible, to give me at least 24hrs notice of changes, this gives me time to fill your spot, or offer a swap to someone waiting for an earlier time!
* I can put you on a cancellation list for last minute spots, but I always strongly suggest booking ahead to secure your preferred days and times..... including booking into the new year!

I do my absolute best to be flexible and helpful as I know life happens, but there is only so much I can physically cope with in a day!
I would love to be able to fit everyone when they want it or need it, sadly there is just not enough hours in a day.

I really appreciate how kind and respectful you all are towards me, especially when making changes.
I will continue to try my absolute hardest to make things work for you.
You are all very much appreciated and valued!

What is the difference between Basic grooms and Style grooms?

Basic grooms:
Done with a clipper blade.
Body and legs same length.
Some call this "shaved"
Head shaped to style, teddy or shaved like the body.

Style grooms:
Done with comb attachments.
Gives a fluffier look.
Usually teddy bear style, or breed standard grooms.
Coat must be nearly completely tangle free to get the comb attachment through.
Must be scissor finished to achieve neat results.

Pictures show a black dog, groomed in a style groom length. Then an apricot dog of similar size and build in the longest Basic groom length.
Second pictures show the difference of Basic vs Style. The difference in lengths of the longest Basic blade, and a short/mid range Comb attachment!!
Can you see the difference?? Especially in how the legs look!

Service Restructure!!!
After much re-evaluating, I have come to the decision I need to restructure my pricing of services.

Basic grooms start from $85
These are short and simple cuts, body and legs same length, typically done with a "blade", 4F or shorter.

Style grooms start from $95
These are the longer styles, the fluffier look, done with comb attachments. May include short body but longer legs and breed standard grooms. These take longer, involve more coat preparation, sc******ng and skill.

Tidy ups from $60
Bath, dry, brush out. Face feet and hygiene tidy. No length off body.

Baths from $35. Bath, dry and brush.

Desheds and Handstripping contact for a rough quote.

This adjustment will allow me to continue to offer top quality service, using the highest quality products whilst still allowing me to spend a comfortable amount of time with your fur babies.

This decision has not been made lightly given the current economic situation, but this same economy is making everything I use to work with, so much more expensive.

Please bear in mind, when you are paying for a groom with me, your money supports a small family business that can boast;

*A very high level of education & knowledge

*A stylist that is always learning to better herself for the benefit of your fur baby

Let's talk dog skin!

Facts:
*They have a different PH to us, so human products...including baby products, are not ideal.
*Dog skin produces sebum. Sebum is needed to help protect the skin from external allergens and toxins. Bathing removes some sebum, and if not provided with quality conditioner to put back the moisture and oils, can lead to skin irritations (because the protection is not there and allergens have direct contact).
*Different coat types have different shaped follicles and different needs to remain healthy.
*Dry skin is itchy skin! Conditioner should be used in some form (rinse off after a shampoo, leave in conditioners, sprays) EVERY time a dog is bathed.
*A dogs skin regenerates (keratinization) approximately every 21-23 days. This means a layer dies and needs to shed.
Which means ideally a dog getting a bath once a month, in the correct way, using quality products, will have dead skin and build up removed, and have nourishing conditioners put back to help maintain optimum skin health.

Can I bath more than once a month?
Of course! As long as your dog is having correct oils, proteins and minerals replaced during their bathing regime!
A weekly bathing regime for approximately 4 weeks is actually needed for skin therapies, to stay on top of bacterial and fungal imbalances while the skin is going through a full change!

What do I recommend? For optimal coat and skin health a professional bath with top quality products, once every 3-4 weeks.
Please make sure if regularly bathing, your groomer is putting back moisture into your dog's coat, or you are using a quality conditioner and letting it sit a few minutes to absorb!

Who doesn't love the feeling of being clean and fresh after a bath or shower?

Whose dogs are happy and zoomy and strut their stuff after a bath or groom??
I'd hazard a guess they love the feel too! And they love our response to them being clean and fresh too!

Don't let cooler weather put off having your pooch feeling and looking great!
You can be sure I have the heaters going in the salon (oh yes it IS heated!!!). And the hot water system is brand new and working perfectly! 😊 No cold water here, and no cold rooms for my awesome furry friends.
