We have had quite a lot of snake bites in the last week! Even with the cooler temperatures snakes are still out and about-

Symptoms of a brown snake bite include:

Weakness: Sudden weakness, especially in the back legs, that may progress to collapse.

Shaking or twitching: Shaking or twitching of the muscles.

Vomiting: sometimes with blood.

Blood in urine: Blood in the urine, which may be brown or red.

Paralysis: Generalized paralysis, which can occur in later stages.

Drooling.

Diarrhoea: sometimes with blood.

Temperature change: Increased body temperature early on, or decreased body temperature later on.

Voice change: A change in the dog's bark.

Loss of bladder and bowel control.

If you suspect your pet has been bitten by a snake, you should seek urgent veterinary care.

The speed at which symptoms appear depends on the amount of venom the dog was exposed to.
